We feel so bad for Elizabeth Edwards.
It's reported that she didn't leave her cheating husband, John Edwards, after he got caught confessed to having an affair because she was diagnosed with a relapse of cancer shortly after finding out.
Their friend, Hargrave McElroy, says, "She couldn't say, 'Well, maybe we'll work through this for years, or maybe we should separate for two years.'" The cancer "forced her to choose whether to move forward."
John, however, claims he ended the affair with money-seeking Rielle Hunter a year ago, though that doesn't explain why he was caught recently sneaking out to go visit her. And, as The National Enquirer is reporting, that's not the only time Edwards has visited the ho this year!
McElroy adds, "There was anguish — excruciating anguish — for her in dealing with this. She was angry and furious and everything, but at one point she had to make a choice: Do I kick him out, or do we have a 30-year marriage that can be rebuilt."
Edwards career is over, all thanks to his infidelity and his CONSTANT lying to the public about it.

I've yet to see what his affair has to do with his political life. His wife obviously knew about it, and they were dealing with it. To make it public like this is just disrespectful to HER. Has anyone thought of that? How embarrassing this is for her? I get sick of people saying "I don't trust him anymore" and "his political career is over." Last time I checked, one's marital status has zip to do with a person's ability to make positive changes as a politician.

I suspect that in the near future we'll find out that he is the baby's father, that he never stopped seeing that woman, and that he paid her and many others off countless times — including a hefty payment to say that she would "not now or ever" submit to a paternity test. Sad, because I think he'll end up in the slammer over taxes and that hush $, and I feel for those little kids and Elizabeth.

The woman is dying and has small children. She doesn't want to waste her time fighting their father over a divorce, afterall; he's the one that will be raising them once she's gone. We may not like him but we should respect her decisions. Secondly just b/c Edwards is in politics doesn't change the fact that he's a humanbeing tlike the rest of us. Fifty percent of marriages in this country fail for a reason and the number one reason is infedelity, number two: Financial stress. The point is many people have character flaws and may suck at being husbands and fathers while making great leaders. In matrilineal and matriarchical cultures, women can and do exercise greater sexual latitude. The fact that in western cultures women were traditional penalized if they were discovered to have sexual behavior that did not meet the norm does not mean that ALL women equate sex and love. In fact, much historical data shows just teh opposite.

That was the red flag that took down the career of a politician, and caused an audit of his financial business, to where he was found to be cheating there too; so of course it will be the central discussion.
