$25M SUIT: HO-LOVIN' HUBBY GAVE ME STDS
A Manhattan woman has filed a $25 million lawsuit against her allegedly hooker-loving husband, charging he gave her sexually transmitted diseases that ruined her life.
In papers filed in state Supreme Court, Stephanie Lerner said she was infected with "several severe incurable strains of the human papilloma virus" as a result of the affairs conducted by her husband, Mark, a venture capitalist.
Stephanie, an author and former television producer, said her condition got so bad, she had to undergo several operations.
The suit accuses Lerner of failing to warn his wife of 16 years that he'd had "numerous encounters of unprotected sexual relations with commercial sex workers in China and Japan, as well as an ongoing affair with Jane Doe in New York."
Mark Lerner's lawyer, Allan Morofsky, said, "I know nothing of this lawsuit," adding his client is in the midst of a divorce.
The Lerners were married in 1991, and she first learned her husband was unfaithful in 1996, when she contracted a sexually transmitted disease, trichomoniasis, the suit says.
That's when Mark admitted that he'd had "unprotected sexual relations in China and Japan" while on business trips, the suit says. He then promised "he would resume being faithful."
But a 2005 visit to the gynecologist revealed Stephanie had since contracted HPV. She claims that as she got sicker, he coldly told her, "I wish you would just die already."
He later admitted to her and their marriage counselor that he'd continued having unprotected sex with hookers in Asia, as well as with a mistress in New York, the suit says.
She says she's in constant pain and no longer able to work.
Men can't be tested for HPV. Science really needs to get the ball rollin on that.

I can't get over the irony of this ad on the same page with this story. Men don't have to be pigs. You can choose to have self control. It's a matter of being selfish or selfless. If you choose to be selfless, you have greater love for your companion because you sacrificed for them. And that increased love makes the intimacy that more wonderful.
It all comes down to a matter of choice. Do you satisfy your selfish lusts? Or do you sacrifice it for something that is more worthwhile. That most worthwhile things in life come with time, patience and effort.

But I DID however contract HPV from my husband who had an affair; well at least ONE that I know of. Simple pelvis to pelvis contact between two sexually active people is enough to pass it from one to the other. The virus resides in the hair follicles. Chlamydia and HPV are the #1 and #2 most common STD's encountered by humans.

This is really too bad and if true she deserves compensation. If she wins it will change many things of what women can do to protect themselves. Everyone says use a condom, however when you are married you love, trust, and respect your partner and want to raise a family. Can't really do that with condoms. Plus most STD's are not preventable with condoms. Also, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO TESTING FOR HOV IN MEN! I married my high school sweet heart after a long seperation. Kning his exwife cheated on him I required prior to our dating a full STD work up for both of us.
We both had clean bills of health in the lower regions and for AIDS. Here we are 7 years later and I have severe level HPV with a schedule LEEP test in two weeks. My husband was not unfaithfull which I know to be true and we were told either of us could have been carrying it for years.
Went to the doctor and said what's up with this and she confirmed tha 80% get this sometime in their lifetime and there is no tests for men.
This is why there is an HPV vaccine for younger girls. So they can protect themselves. Since it is found to be one of the leading causes of cervical cancer it can also cause penile cancer in men.
Anyway back to the story, we are not technically designed to be monogomous but are smart enough to be for safety and security. This is just another disease that proves that we should be a species that has one partner for life.

ok… so HPV only turns into warts if someone's immunity is compromised. and unless she is referring to burning off warts, there is no surgery for HPV. HPV is HUGELY common and really not considered an STD anymore since its passed from mother to child, in addition to sexual contact among other ways. so, i don't know why i'm on an HPV educational bandwagon, but if this reaches anyone… i highly advocate the Gardasil (sp?) vaccination for all girls, starting now, to start slowly but surely reducing the amount of complications that come from the virus. it will take generations most likely for it to make a difference, but worth the effort since science has provided this new vaccination. my 2 cents…

I agree as a US citizen that most people are the way you say in this country, however I have noticed that many people from other countries are actually much worse. It is the culture they are used to I suppose. I wish everyone would treat others the way they want to be treated. That is how I am. What country are you from? I want to know what country it is where everyone treats others fairly and where everyone cares about their actions towards others and how it makes others feel.
I agree the guy is a pig and the ex wife should get the money if he is worth that. However, HPV will not cause pain like she says so it is extremely fishy there. I am sure that she has proven she has strains of HPV (there are like 100) but they either do nothing, create warts (which don't cause pain but are gross) or create cancer. The cancer is very treatable and cancer is not mentioned.
