The Hollywood Reporter says that The Food Network is getting into the competitive eating genre with a new reality series tentatively titled Eat the Clock.
The show is described as a cross between an eating competition and The Amazing Race.
Two teams of contestants rush to various Los Angeles eateries and gorge themselves in face-stuffing challenges.
Eating contests are fun to watch at county fairs…but a whole TV show?

People actually eating food in Los Angeles…isn't that already a rare occurrence? Is it gonna be granola or some other health crap or will it be actual real food? If it's on the food network, I'll probably watch it once and then decide if it's crappy but it already sounds like it's going to be.
I won't watch, but hopefully it'll be broadcast in countries where food is scarce further perpetuating the bad conotation of the wasteful western world. They should film the show infront of starving people in Africa, or even the U.S. and Canada…it's shocking and usually I'm never this serious.

I think it is totally disrespectful to create such a program when there are so many places in the world suffering of hunger, this should not be broadcasted. I admire some of the chefs at Food Network, especially Giada, but this I would never watch!
Just what we need in the US….a show devoted to demonstrating what fat pigs some people in our country can be. I mean come on, the world already thinks of us as fat stupid idiots, we are the most obese country in the world…do we need a show that just proves that fact??? Eating contests are just nasty, who wants to see someone stuff their face until they throw up? I mean seriously, at a time like this in the world when kids in Darfur and other places are starving, we are going to air a show that proves what nasty gluttons we are. Lovely.
