NBC must be so sad that Michael Phelps is done competing!
According to the Hollywood Reporter, NBC had its best Saturday night ratings since 1990, with almost 40 million tuning in around 11 p.m. ET to see Phelps and the U.S. team win in the 4×100m medley relay.
That's a lot of eyeballs!
Phelps withdrawl hasn't hit us yet.

Phelps was awesome to watch but I don't think he's the sole reason NBC hit ratings gold. There were a lot of other exciting competitions on as well.
I hope people will keep watching, there´s so much more to the Olympics than just 1 fantastic person.

The ratings will go down now. I don't think there's other sport that had the same excitement as Phelps swimming besides basketball with the NBA stars.
I've been an avid Olympic watcher this whole time but after Saturday, it was boring. I love to watch track but it doesn't have that same momentum. There's no other athlete that is close to winning as many medals as Phelps. Everybody watched the Olympics for him.
I do enjoy watching volleyball (mens and womens). At least there's excitement there.
Although I am still enthusiastically watching Olympic coverage, I'll bet their overall viewership has diminished.
He is SO CUTE!!! I just LOVE his ears!! Congrats to him on all his wonderful accomplishments. A great story of true triumph of the human spirit. GO USA!!!

Uhm the sole reason people are saying "He's so cute, he's so hot" is because of his achievements, which are impressive, yes. But people, come on, had he sucked at the olympics you would've been saying, "ew, he's so ugly, keep your mouth shut, eww such big ears"…So since I seem to be the only honest one around here, I'll say it.
