Cindy McCain has been hanging out in D.C. too much cause she's caught the bug.
Mrs. McCain has gone on and on about living life as an 'only child.'
One LITTLE problem!!!!
She has a half-sister who she's known about, according to National Public Radio. In fact, Cindy and her sister hung out from time to time when they were growing up.
NPR points out that Cindy routinely uses the phrase "only child," as she did on CNN last month. "I grew up with my dad," she said then. "I'm an only child. My father was a cowboy, and he really loved me very much, but I think he wanted a son occasionally."
The wannabe first lady has also been described that way by news organizations from The New Yorker and The New York Times to Newsweek and ABC.
Cindy's half-sis, Kathleen Hensley Portalski, has spoken out.
She tells NPR, "I'm upset. I'm angry. It makes me feel like a nonperson, kind of."
Kathleen says she'd like an acknowledgment and an apology.
When NPR asked the McCain campaign — specifically, Cindy McCain — to comment or respond, neither replied.
What's up with that????

I don't know the circumstances of her HALF-sibling, but my Dad left my Mom for another woman, married her and had 2 more kids.
The first new kid was born when I was 27 years old. The second a couple of years later. MY KIDS are older than his kids.
SO I do not claim those boys, in open or casual, conversation as brothers or even half brothers, they feel more like distant cousins.
I grew up with my sister so I have one sister. the end.
It isn't that big of a deal that Cindy doesn't proclaim for all that she a sister. She may have had hardly any contact with her and have no feelings for her as in my case.

okay now NEVER EVER did I think I would say ANYTHING to support this creepy creepy woman but I have to defend this statement. I was adopted at birth by a great family and I was their only child. I grew up with that mindset and when I met my birth-family at 25 years old I now know both of my biological half sisters. They are great people and I love them alot. However, that doesn't change the fact that I have to think twice about me having sisters. I grew up as an ONLY child with the family that raised me. My daughter has an older half sister by her Dad. He never really knew the other child therefore my daughter doesn't really know her sister. They've met only 2 or 3 times in their lives. I bet if you asked my daughter she would say she is an only child too. I would also consider her an only child.

To be aware of a sibling is Not being an only child and if she hung out with her sister she was rasied with knowledge of her. She should have just said I lived alone w/ my dad despite having a half sister. As others have posted, I have always identified myself an only child, because quite simply I grew up without siblings. There was only me. So effectively, I was an only child. In reality, I have several half-siblings whom I've never met and another half-brother that I saw only occasionally as a child (just as Cindy McCain). I think that in modern times, this only child identity has more to do with one's day-to-day childhood experience. This propaganda is a non-story, Perez.

I have a half brother but he was older than me and lived in another state. I was raised in a one child household making me an only child. I saw my half brother quite a lot but that didn't mean we were raised together.

Being an ONLY CHILD is not necessarily a comment on how many siblings one has but a type of household one grows up in- You can have a half-sibling who lives in another state with another family and still grow up an ONLY CHILD because you are the ONLY CHILD in the household.
