Almost all politicians have been infected by the liar bug. And, now, so have their families!
Cindy McCain has been hanging out in D.C. too much cause she's caught the bug.
Mrs. McCain has gone on and on about living life as an 'only child.'
One LITTLE problem!!!!
She has a half-sister who she's known about, according to National Public Radio. In fact, Cindy and her sister hung out from time to time when they were growing up.
NPR points out that Cindy routinely uses the phrase "only child," as she did on CNN last month. "I grew up with my dad," she said then. "I'm an only child. My father was a cowboy, and he really loved me very much, but I think he wanted a son occasionally."
The wannabe first lady has also been described that way by news organizations from The New Yorker and The New York Times to Newsweek and ABC.
Cindy's half-sis, Kathleen Hensley Portalski, has spoken out.
She tells NPR, "I'm upset. I'm angry. It makes me feel like a nonperson, kind of."
Kathleen says she'd like an acknowledgment and an apology.
When NPR asked the McCain campaign — specifically, Cindy McCain — to comment or respond, neither replied.
What's up with that????

I don't know the circumstances of her HALF-sibling, but my Dad left my Mom for another woman, married her and had 2 more kids.
The first new kid was born when I was 27 years old. The second a couple of years later. MY KIDS are older than his kids.
SO I do not claim those boys, in open or casual, conversation as brothers or even half brothers, they feel more like distant cousins.
I grew up with my sister so I have one sister. the end.
It isn't that big of a deal that Cindy doesn't proclaim for all that she a sister. She may have had hardly any contact with her and have no feelings for her as in my case.

okay now NEVER EVER did I think I would say ANYTHING to support this creepy creepy woman but I have to defend this statement. I was adopted at birth by a great family and I was their only child. I grew up with that mindset and when I met my birth-family at 25 years old I now know both of my biological half sisters. They are great people and I love them alot. However, that doesn't change the fact that I have to think twice about me having sisters. I grew up as an ONLY child with the family that raised me. I'm not trying to be mean when I say this, it's just how I identify. Maybe it's the same for creepy? just a thought
If they only "hung out from time to time when they were growing up" then yes, she was RAISED as an only child. She wasn't raised with the sister, clearly the sister lived somewhere else. This is really reading way more into something than there is.

My son has a brother he doesn´t know, he knows who he is and where he lives but he there is no contact between them. Would you say he "doesn´t give a shit about family" like leggymeggy says? Would he be wrong feeling like an only child?

Hate her but I don't think that makes her a liar. If you don't live with your siblings growing up, you are effectively an only child and can know your friends better than your 'family'. Unless she's trying to hide something about that woman or their relationship, I don't think it reflects badly on her.

Ya, I say I'm an only child too because I grew up with no siblings. Although I actually do have a sibling but who is a generation younger. I say this because in the house I grew up in all the way to college graduation, there was no one else. Maybe she feels the same way because in her house growing up she was the only child.

This is not that huge of a deal. Not really a deal at all, actually. She has a step sister, but she didn't grow up along side her. She grew up mainly without any siblings, thus an only child. I have two half brothers, but consider myself an only child… Technically I am. I am the ONLY child from my mother and my father. She did not live with her half sister, so she DID grow up as an only shild.
She grew up as an only child. That's true - the half sister didn't live with her, and they spent NO time together when they were kids. And very little time together as adults. I don't particularly like her, but I don't think this statement is a direct LIE like you are making it out to be…..

My daughter has an older half sister by her Dad. He never really knew the other child therefore my daughter doesn't really know her sister. They've met only 2 or 3 times in their lives. I bet if you asked my daughter she would say she is an only child too. I would also consider her an only child.
