Should we blame the Olympics for The Hills' dip in ratings?
When season 3 of the MTV show premiered it was up 40% from season 2's premiere.
But, according to the Hollywood Reporter, there was no such growth for the season 4 premiere on Monday night.
In fact, it was down 9% in its key 12-to-34 demo (2.1 million) and down 5% among total viewers (3.5 million) when compared to its one-hour debut last year.
Do you think the coming weeks without the Olympics will provide a better test?

I still love the show, but I have to admit the episode last night was kind of boring and it seemed really short with all the looooooong breaks.
well last time, we had an entire hour. this time it was only 30 minutes and it was only about audrina and lo fighting. i wanted more of the doug romance! and it would be better if stupid speidi wasnt there

YA, the Olympics are way better and WAY HOTTER … the athletes are super duper hot and going for it in real life. The Hills is contrived but an enjoyable tongue in cheek look inside life in the Hills I guess.
I did like the scene where Spencer and Heidi were driving through town and they showed the cars next to them. In the one car was a gapping, wide eyed child. That scene was the best shot in the entire show last night.
Hmm, yeah after Audrina admitted the Hills was fake (not like I didn't know in the first place) I lost interest… im sick of Laurens whining and Heidis horse jaw… Id rather watch the Olympics

well 1st of all that dang 1st commercial break was seriously like 10 min long so really the damn show was ab 14 min? it sucked it was a sucky premerie and i cant even explain how much i hate spencer i mean he doesnt have any likeable about him they seem so happy like when the paparazzi are around but he is such a doosh bag on the show. and the worst part is he knows it but still acts that way. heidi aint all that but he is lucky to have anyone!!!

The same shit is starting to happen every episode:
1. Spencer gets mad and acts like a douchebag. Heidi gets annoyed.
2. A random sibling of one of the stars shows up that we didn't know existed
3. Justin bobby makes an appearance
4. Lauren cries about her friends

maybe it's a bit of both, however, everyone knows its a scripted show now and not everyone wants to view the same bullshit that goes on every season.
but i still love the show and will always watch it:D

Last night's episode was really predictable and boring because ITS FAKE!!!! I did watch some of it last night. At the rate the show is going, I won't be watching the rest of the episodes.
i'm not sure if i'm going to watch it anymore after last night. seriously, the whole thing with heidi's sister was so damn fake. it's mtv, they can afford to hire people who can actually act.
Dude, here are my thoughts.
By now we know Speidi's fights are staged, but the way Spencer treats Heidi is a TERRIBLE depiction for young women.
I cringe when he talks to her like that.
Also, the way they have Whitney set up questions for Lauren is soooo fake and forced it's not even fun to pretend we know it's fake.
I'm not tired of the hills at all. I do however think that this season premier was pretty dull. Maybe it's because it was a half hour, but maybe because the only thing that really happened was the whole Lauren, Lo, Audrina ordeal and then Heidi's sister moving in soon. I think they should have had more packed in the half hour. It was kinda boring.

I watched it and it's not any different than all the other seasons. It probably was the olympics or people are just getting tired of them.
Of course it's the Olympics. Who wouldn't rather watch young people who are focused, dedicated and the best in the world at what they do, rather than a bunch of skanks wearing too much cosmetics and pretending to be upset about shit no one cares about.
i still love the hills. but i think they didnt show enough . to many advertisements.
