Phelps Is Playing Coy

With all the recent media attention surrounding Olympic swimmer and record breaker Michael Phelps, it was only a matter of time before people started asking about his personal life.
And now the world wants to know if he's dating anyone.
Like perhaps Olympic swimmer Amanda Beard?
When asked by TV's Extra if he was dating Amanda, Phelps responded, "No, I'm not dating Amanda Beard. I'll say that. I think she has a boyfriend."
Is he just being coy?
When directly asked if he's single, Phelps said, "Part of my life is kept to myself. I'm able to relax and be with my friends. Those pretty much are the only people who really know the answer to that question."
Looks like his friends will be getting interviewed pretty soon!
And when told that Carrie Underwood has a crush on him, all Phelps said was "That's the first I've heard of that. That's pretty cool."
As for his favorite female celeb, that would be Cameron Diaz.
When asked who would play his leading leading in a movie about his life, he responded, "Cameron Diaz seems pretty cool. She seems like she has a cool personality. "
With the amount of money he's going to be making soon, we doubt he'll have any problem picking up any girls. Or boys!
Phelps is said to be taking in an estimated $40-100 MILLION in endorsements thanks to his wins and popularity now.
But, he adds, "It's not about the money. I love what I do. The one thing I'm really looking forward to doing is raising the bar in the sport of swimming and promoting it…to get new faces involved in the sport."
The money doesn't hurt, though!

Amanda Beard is dating a photographer named Sacha Brown - they've been together for like two years now, and she's also like 27 years old
He formerly dated Caroline Blair in highschool, then went on to date Carrie Foster before, during, and after the 2004 Olympics. Both girls are from Timonium, Maryland.
One thing's for sure, anyone dating him would be after the money. He's butt ugly, with a personality to match. I love how the news media made him out to be something so special. Yeah, he's a good athlete and can swim and won a bunch of medals. And?

I heard he was not the nicest guy, but he seems pretty genuine in interviews. and since I will probably never really know him, I'll just assume he's ok. I just hate seeing people manically text, which I have seen him do a few times. his mom is cool. I wish she was my adviser in college. she seems like she'd be good at that.

Why do we always feel it is our God given right to know every aspect of a person's personal life? Who cares who he dates, celebrate his accomplishments and MYOB.
So, if Donkey-Face is true to his word, he will take all of his endorsement money and, except for paying for his living and training expenses, he will donate all of it to USA SWIMMING and the United States Olympic Committee in order to develop youth swimming programs, especially for disadvantaged kids who don't have access to pools and coaching, right?

Also, for Scott LaRock, the reason he's on so much now is that the general public forms opinions very quickly when someone becomes famous (in the first few days). His agents and their media partners are working overtime so that people's opinions are locked in, so that when the negative news starts coming in (like interviews with his previous girlfriends), the public won't notice.
the last time I heard of Amanda Beard was when I was watching Nascar either a year or two years ago. I heard she was dating Nascar driver, Carl Edwards.

i've heard a lot about him the past couple of days being arrogant. i don't think it's arrogance though.i think he's just reacting like anyone who was ever doubted would. seriously if someone walked up to you and said i'll pay you millions of dollars for doing what you love, you would probably say hell yea and the first thing you would do is rub it in the faces of everyone and anyone who ever doubted you. i just think he's reacting a normally to his new found fame, but eventually it will all sink in that from here on out his life becomes the medias life and that money is fun to spend but it can also destroy you.

Re: itsthesmile – I agree with part of what you are saying, however, the key factor is that he has been making millions of dollars for years now. He has been on Speedo's payroll since he was in high school, and in November 2003 he signed a 6-year extension for at least $1 million a year, plus bonuses. He also signed with Visa before the start of the Athens Games. So, whatever one might think of Phelps, I honestly don't think that he is new to the world of BIG money.

He's not conventionally gorgeous, but there is something about him that makes him really cute and attractive (no, not the money.). He seems like a really down to earth guy that I could totally see myself hanging out with.

Nothing to do with Phelps: my whole outlook on the word "celebrity" (may sound crazy to most,offend some, but sorry)…i just don't think its the life everyone who is labeled a celeb chooses. Some people do what they do because they love it or that want encourage others to think highly or higher of it. i absolutely love fashion. i would really like to become a designer, but i would much rather have some small boutique than to have the media create a frenzy and take my life away from me and swallow me whole.
