The Prince of Scientology is trying real hard to get us to like him again!
Tom Cruise has just attached himself to the comic book movie Sleeper. The film is about an operative whose fusion with an alien artifact makes him impervious to pain. An intelligence agency places him undercover in a villainous organization and he falls for Miss Misery, a member of the group.
Hmm…fusion with an alien.

While, I watched a few of his movies, in the past…I was never really 'enamored' with his acting ability, and certainly never a fan. Keep in mind, though, that I was born in '65…so, I was old enough to know that there HAVE been better movies, in which he has not starred, and….better movies, since then, that he HASN'T.
Do I judge his career, simply by his 'religious beliefs' (if you can call Scientology a religion)? No.
What I DID take offense at, were his statements to Matt Lauer, his 'diatribe' about Brooke Shields (and post-partum depression) and his idiotic behavior on Oprah's show….hence, my boycott of ANY AND ALL Tom Cruise movies.
As far as I am concerned, he can proclaim his faith in Scientology, all that he wants. But, when he 'judges others', as he has done in the past…it's 'no holds barred'.

Re: Splooey – I don't boycott an actor, or movie, simply because of religious beliefs…but, by HOW those beliefs are conveyed to those outside of their 'circle', via public media. Know what I mean? Well, then…let me explain. I was ok with Tom's views on Scientology….UNTIL he 'chastised and humiliated' Brooke Shields regarding post-partum depression and until he downplayed meds for ADD/ADHD sufferers.
I had a MILD case of post-partum (which, THANK GOD, passed quickly), but, I have a 13yo son who needs to take meds daily for his ADD. I TRIED taking him off the meds, but after failing EVERY class in one school quarter, I put him back on the meds, and he achieved A's and B's. So, Scientology holds absolutely no credence, with me.
My point? As long as Tom Cruise stays OUT of MY medicine cabinet…..I will stay out of HIS life.

I've been watching Dawson's Creek and I see the transition of Katie Holmes then to now and it's awful. She deserves to much better…she looks miserable all the time. Tom Cruise is such a control freak.. I hate him! But Surri is the cutest!
I truly hope his career is beyond redemption. He has been the poster boy for a dangerous cult. He has chosen either, to willingly aid this cult in furthering their monetary exploitation of innocent ppl, or has, at the very least, irresponsibly chosen to turn a blind eye and deaf ear to the numerous and consistently similar horror stories voiced ppl involved in $cientology. He is an actor and he needs to stay an actor. He is not an intellectual. He is not well educated. If he is well read it does not show. I don't find him articulate nor well spoken. He is not a thinker. He does not know the history of psychiatry.
He cannot help mankind beyond a few hours of entertainment on screen to make us forget our daily lives good or bad. He is not an authority on addiction nor is his cult. When he opens his mouth he makes a fool of himself. When he makes a public appearance is a spectacle. When he makes a movie it becomes a failure. When he married a young woman he ruined her life and career. When he had a child he doomed it to servitude within a cult.
Now I have thoroughly depressed myself in contemplating this little tragedy of a man and his obsession with a his cult.
Miss Misery should be played by Posh. And I agree w/ Andy… they need to get Suri off that bottle though.
