My dear mother in law has Alzheimer's. My husband, myself and various family members have shared the load of caring for her for the past ten years. This is a brutally terrifying and soul sucking disease, both for the afflicted and the family members. God bless all those out there fighting this illness, their families, and thanks Perez for the "plug!" Love to all……
Yay Perez for using your website for good.
You are the non-orange Oprah.
Great cause. I just lost my Papa to Alzheimer's disease on 4/12/07. It is a heartbreaking and ruthless disease that rips away every bit of normalcy and dignity from the victims including natural functions like the ability to swallow foods and eventually breathing. I hope that more people will take notice of this horrible disease and that one day we will find a cure.
I met a lady in hospital with with this disease whilst visiting a relative, it was really heartbreaking to talk to her, she thought she knew me and got her coat on ready to "come home" with me - she looked really frightened when we left without her.
Unless you witness these things with your own eyes, it's hard to imagine how devastating it can be.
Perez,
Are you donating money?…just curious!
for my quinceanera the church i had my mass in, all the girls do community service and they took us to this nursing home especially for people that have dimentia. It's really sad to see some of the people forget what they were gonna do, going to do, or where they were going. One of the ladies we were talking to for like two minutes and statred walking to show us the place and we started following her and she turned around and told us what we were doing following her. it pretty sad.
thanks for posting this perez…my grandfather died of alzheimer's, it is a serious problem and it's on the rise in the u.s… donate if you can, volunteer at a nursing home or participate in alzheimer's memory walk.
THEY JUST DONT KNOW THEIR BUTT FROM
THEIR REAR END THATS ALL
Yeah Perez! Down with dementia!
This is a really crazy, yet interesting disease. I'm doing the Memory Walk on Saturday in Detroit for it to raise money & awareness. Everybody should look into doing it when it comes around to your town… you only have to walk for a couple hours & you'll raise money and awareness for the disease by doing so!
Thanks, Perez, for putting this up. I lost my Papaw to Alzheimer's in January 2007 after watching him steadily decline for six years. THANK YOU so much for bringing more light to this disease!
