Scary.
British reality staple Jade Goody will undergo a hysterectomy next week, after doctors said she would have DIED within three months without urgent treatment for her cervical cancer, according to the UK's Sun.
Isn't cervical cancer one of the most treatable, though????
Specialists reportedly told her on Thursday that a large tumor in her womb may have spread to her blood stream — putting major organs such as her liver and kidneys at risk. If she hadn't left her post in the Big Brother India show immediately to receive treatment she could've been dead:
“She has serious second stage cancer and needs surgery as soon as possible. The cancer is in an advanced stage and was diagnosed in the nick of time. The bottom line is, if she’d stayed in India for the next three months, she wouldn’t be here.”
Jade also revealed to the Sun that she was wrongly given the all-clear at first after being rushed to hospital just three weeks ago. And, since doctors couldn't find anything wrong, she went on with participating in the Indian reality show:
“I just got on with my life. I thought about cancelling the Big Brother India trip. But they had offered me £100,000 (approx. USD $200,000), which will go towards bringing up my kids. People think I’m a multi-millionaire from telly, which couldn’t be further from the truth.”
She went on to say that she's "tortured" because people think her battle with cancer is a "stunt":
“Since Big Brother my life has been fashioned by publicity. But no way would I want anyone to be in my shoes now. I have to try and brush that sort of stuff aside and concentrate on living and getting well again.”
Seems like skepticism is an unfortunate child of the reality TV culture.

Obviously we don't have all the info, but a "large tumor" in her womb is not the same as cervical cancer. If the cancer is in an "advanced" stage and they think it may have spread into her blood, it would be stage four, the worst. All that aside, get well and best wishes on your recovery…..

well it is easy to treat, but it is very deadly, young women diagnosed, to the point where the only answer is a drastic measure like this is serious, i mean young women really need to be aware, and the more sexual prtners you have you risk factor goes up…
There are two types of cervical cancer. One is squamous cell carcinoma, which is caused by the virus HPV and tends to be very treatable. Another is cervical adenocarcinoma, which can form tumors and can be much more difficult to treat. It's more likely to metastasize, and often requires chemo and radiation! So, maybe her flak is blowing it all out of proportion, or maybe she is a very very sick lady….

Just because a specific type of cancer is said to be the "most treatable", doesn't mean that it can't often be deadly. F.Y.I.,- colon cancer is also said to be one of the "most treatable" forms of cancer.
i hope she gets better, because cancer's awful for anyone. but the fact that she's even "famous" doesn't make her a good person. she was an awful, trashy, racist, and extremely ignorant person on big brother. i can't stand her. and i won't say she deserves cancer… but karma sucks, doesn't it? what goes around comes around.

For the women to know yes cervical cancer is treatable if caught early! But, if not what is happening to her can happen. I have a couple of friends who had the same thing. It's no joke! I would not wish this on anyone. I hope she gets
through this.
I've worked in the medical field for many,many years. Cancer is horrible…but Stage 2 Cancer isn't that bad. Stage 4 is when you are a serious goner.

The most treatable if not caught soon like any cancer can and will kill you like the worst. She should of kept up on her pap smears! takes one a year to have caught it at a stage where it would of been nothing more than some in office treatment options in the first layers of BAD cells…. ah well hope she is feeling better.

I was treated for cervical cancer last year, it was a fairly simple surgery, did not involve taking out any organs. By "tumor" it sounds more like she has uterine cancer, not cervical. Perhaps just wrong information, either way, good luck with the surgery.

You have to know about it to treat it. It can spread very fast. Pap smears are not the perfect solution. I had the regular pap smears and everything was fine. 6 months later, during another procedure, it was discovered the cells were Class II. One month after that was a Class III. A complete hysterectomy took care of my problem, but if not for that other procedure, I think it would have been a very bad outcome.
I hope she can beat this. It sounds like she is in for the fight of her life.

It depends on when it's detected and how it has affected the surrounding tissues and organs. If it goes to the ovaries or spread beyond, it can be very agressive. Someone I know of was burried today after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer less than two months ago. Ladies it's important to get those PAPs (although it's hard to detect ovarian with them I know , but it can detect cervical cancer) and those pelvic exams can determine the size of the uterus incase there's a tumor. Also pay attention to pelvic pain that has no cause (i.e. no menses) Just saying…

It is only one of the most treatable if caught early! That is why it is so important for every woman out there to get a yearly pap test. My cousin passed away from cervical cancer last year. She was only 30 years old.
It is the most treatable if you go to your gynecologist regularly. Some dumb chicks never go.

actually cervical cancer isn't the easiest to treat. my mum died from it when i was 17 four years ago. it was a three year battle but she was in stage 3 the whole time. the four year anniversary is going to be august 28. very sad.

this is such an awful story, no one should be facing cancer at the age of 27. cervical cancer is usually thought of as one of the most preventable due to the exstensive screening programme but once abnormalities have progressed to cancer then your life is in as much danger as anyone who has cancer.
i don't understand all these kharma comments. did kylie have bad kharma?? or any of your relatives who have suffered from cancer??
and for god's sake Jades dad was black, i find it very difficult to believe she is in fact racist, i believe she's just unintelligent and doesn't know how to express anger without throwing hurtful comments towards people.

That's bullsh*t that you're being all nice about her now just because she has cancer. Cancer is horrible and I wouldn't wish it on anyone but Jade Goody is milking it in the worst possible way! She's such a spanner. Cancer doesn't change that.

Actually Cervical Cancer is not really the most treatable. Mainly because there are rarely any symptoms and by the time you catch it is already in its later stages. That is why it is very important to be an advocate of your own health
My money is on stunt to get out of the show.

You are confused with OVARIAN cancer
As someone who has survived cervical cancer, this doesn't sound quite right to me. As far as I know, the only way cervical cancer could get this advanced would be if you didn't go into get a checkup from the gyno for years… it's pretty detectable. Maybe there's some sort of very aggressive version? Or it's not cervical cancer, but uteran cancer, which is much deadlier?
