Do not read on if you don't want to know the result of the USA vs. Spain gold medal basketball game.

SPOILER ALERT!

It was a nail biter!

It was also more than just USA vs. Spain.

There was a Lakers showdown!

Kobe Bryant (USA) vs. Pau Gasol (Spain).

Well, basketball powerhouse Spain played a monster game against the boys of the USA. They kept it close the last two quarters. Sometimes a little too close for comfort!

After leading by double digits, the US lead was cut to 2 at one point.

But, the Lakers' Kobe made some key plays in the fourth quarter and lead the USA to gold!

What a year for Bryant! NBA MVP and gold medal winner!

Team USA is officially redeemed.

Oh, and scrumptious basketball fan David Beckham was spotted at the game looking as divine as ever.

    On Saturday, hasbeen R&B jammers K-Ci and JoJo gave fans in Australia an utterly crackalicious performance. Perezcious reader Jordan was there and here's his eyewitness account:
    So last night some friends and I went to see a Jodeci "reunion tour" at the Enmore theater in Sydney. Mate, the whole thing was a disaster. First, one of the guys (Devante I think) didn't even show up, so it became a K-ci and JoJo concert. JoJo came on stage and right away you could tell he was messed right up- he kept forgetting the words to songs and just was a general weirdo. But then, after about 40 minutes into the "show" he decided to sit right down on the floor. His brother, the other crackhead K-ci was trying his best to carry the show on his own. By far, the best part of the evening was when JoJo walked off stage for about 5 minutes, then came back out to sing "All My Life"- and PASSED OUT mid song. His brother told the audience that they were tired after their 24-hour flight and that JoJo had gotten dizzy.

      They had to win to keep people interested in the sport of basketball and keep their millions flowing in. Another gold for USA though.

      Nope, I'm sorry but for me they didn't redeem themselves. Bunch of spoiled pro bball players who bailed on US when we needed them the most. You can't be part of the national team when you FEEL like it.

      I am talking about most of them bailing out on USA in 2004 olympics. The only reason they manned up and played for the team is because of the heat they got in 2004.

      Coach K deserves a lot of credit for keeping everyone's ego in check. They played with class (with the exception of Kobe a couple times) and to see their reaction after winning was priceless. They have grown a lot since the 2004 games and deserved to win. Go LeBron and go USA!

      those refs sucked and spain played like a bunch of dirty racist pieces of shit and I'm glad they lost. The USA team hung together and executed better down the stretch.

      …and some people want to say that this new dream team is better than the original dream team. How many nail-biters did the original dream team put people through? None, every single game was a complete blowout. The new team has some great players, but no team will compare to the original dream team.

      Damn. Pau can't play in the U.S. and he can't play in Spain either… interesting. I can not understand why some players live, eat, work, and go to college, in the U.S. but then go play for their home country. I find that a little hypocritical. Just a thought…

      Re: S_M_G – In 2004, there were 12 team spots available, for the Olympics. 2 were already spoken for…Greece, because they were the 'Home Country'…and Yugoslavia, because they were the 2002 World Champions.
      How, exactly, did the US 'bail out', when there were only 10 other spots, to fill?
      I am curious to know.

      Re: hyde30 – When it comes to Beckham and basketball…there is no connection, nor hoopla. Beckham is a soccer/futbol athlete….NOT basketball. For the networks to show Beck's sitting on the bleachers, while watching the 'gold game'….thereby, ignoring the actual athletes, is reprehensible.

CUTOOS to him… the face on team USA players were priceless when they found out they got the gold medal!.. and for beijing to applaud kobe and only kobe when he left the court made my heart smile real biG!.. they treat him better than the U.S they see his amazing game rather than his personal life

      My 'time' is up, on this site…so, I would like to thank all of you for helping me, with my thesis.
      I can't suggest/prescribe psychiatric help (since, I haven't received my license, yet)…but I highly recommend that most of you 'earmark funds' (if your insurance doesn't cover it) and check into the nearest facility.
