More American Idol Changes

Can you smell the desperation????
Judging isn't the only thing American Idol producers have tinkered with.
Sources say we're going to sell less of the crap auditions in the early rounds too.
But, we loved seeing the bad singers and people falling on their faces!
The audition episodes have supposedly become "too repetitive".
Instead, y'all will spend more time with the contestants once they arrive in Hollywood.
An insider is quoted as saying, "The strength of the show is that the audience wants to meet those 20 contestants. So we'll spend more time with them."
Also, with the departure of long-time show runner Nigel Lythgoe the music featured in the show will supposedly be more 'updated'.
A Fox insider says, "At one point, we had Neil Diamond on, and Andrew Lloyd Webber and Dolly Parton. Nigel wanted to be old school. But the show needs younger music."
Let's see if all these changes will help the show goose some ratings!

I agree!! Less of the crap, just the highlights of all the bad singers. More new music, it always bugged me that they didn't do a Britney Spears (hah) or newer singers show. Don't get me wrong, I love Neil Diamond, but it really didn't work so well, which is why David Archuleta made it so far. If he had to sing something current he would not have made it to the end.
This show needs to be cancelled out!
at least we've better eye candy than (pop another pill) Abdul!!

I'm so glad Australian Idol just started, because I'd so rather focus in it than American Idol, or rather Crap Idol. American Idol is such a joke compared to all the others.

I think it will, half the shit they sing puts me to sleep. Why can't they come up with some original stuff or at least some lesser known stuff that is new and exciting.

AI is stupid, I only watch the auditions because they're sometimes funny. Guess I won't be watching this season…
they are just doing what the uk X factor has done by useing 4 judges.. what copy cats….

This is all BS! My friend auditioned for Idol in NJ. They took them is groups of four the first round and each person sang a song. My friend and the two other girls did well, but the fourth was a a guy dressed up in a costume with a cape. He sang like shit and danced a stupid dance. Guess who was selected? Yes, he was. The best singers do not even get selected to audition for the judges. What a waste of all those people's time.

Yeah right, I only watch the first episodes to see the bad singers and the "Oh no you DIDN'T O:" type of people, I never follow through til the end. Only When Kurt Nilsen won.
Hell, I won tickets to the Norwegian finale when Aleksander With won, and I only cheered for him because He lives not far from me….He actually IS a good singer though…..

The American Idol ratings juggernaut is the reason Fox execs have felt comfortable being such dicks to the various Guilds. Their statements during the WGA strike were obnoxious beyond belief (matched only by those of the pathetic Ben Silverman at NBC). It's about time Fox realized that it can't keep shoveling the same old crap into the airwaves and getting big ratings in return. Hiring a fourth AI judge won't help. What they need to do is hire some professionals to create shows as good as what they used to develop. Don't forget, this is the network that launched The X-Files and House. Now they speak opening of wanting to rid of the kind of people who made those series possible.

Idol needs an overhaul. The auditions are ridiculous and were becoming the focus, instead of finding true hopefuls. I was ready to give up if they hadn't change that part of the show. Also, is good that they will do more current songs, but I think it would be a shame to do away with the classics completely. Now if they could replace everyone but Simon and all would be great! Paula is annoying, Randy adds NOTHING and Ryan is smug and unsympathetic. (Kat on So You Think You Can Dance? is much more charming). Simon is all the really need to keep the show going.
