Daddy Yankee: "The Democrats Are Lying!"

As we mentioned yesterday, Presidential hopeful John McCain has an endorsement from Puerto Rican Reggaeton musician Daddy Yankee.
Though we've since come to find out that the McCain lover had originally offered to endorse and perform for Barack Obama.
Now, Daddy Yankee's rep is denying the reports of any initial Obama support.
Mayna Nevarez says that the story "is completely false. Our camp never approached the Obama camp. The Obama and Clinton camps were calling our office before the Puerto Rican primary, trying to get Yankee to endorse them. The McCain camp approached us, as well."
We find it hard to believe that Obama's people would want to be associated with Daddy Yankee!
Nevarez adds, "Yankee considered all the proposals and he liked McCain's. That's why he decided to endorse him. There was never an offer to endorse Obama. That never happened."

Honestly, I would consider Obama more likely than McCain to approach Daddy Yankee about an endorsement. Republicans tend to be a lot more harsh on people with criminal records, in general, and they also have that whole "not appealing to the younger generation" thing. They just said that there was a primary in PR, so there WOULD be a logical reason to seek out a Puerto Rican figure to support either candidate. And shit, there aren't just people under 18 that are fans of Daddy Yankee. I was a freshman in high school when his music was getting really popular, and of voting age now– and I considered myself on the younger edge of Yankee's fan spectrum. Not everyone that is associated with Republicans or McCain is shady, Perez! Your bias is showing, like, hugely.
I love when self-important celebrities think that their political leanings should/will influence the thinking of anybody else. I wish I could be that self-involved and clueless about my place in society.

And, Obama launched his political career at the home of former terrorist William Ayers who exploded a bomb in a women's restroom at the Pentagon and later bombed a NYC Police police station. Sounds like Daddy Yankee would fit the mold. So why is it hard to believe Obama would seek the support of Yank-Diddy in the run-up to the Puerto Rico primary held June 1? The race was still hotly contested at the time and the help of a popular entertainer would go along way. Don't be naive Miss Pee.
