OMG!!! Perez get real what is inspiring about this guy? That he is openly gay? He did not say that on the interview. He won a medal good for him and all the athlets that achieved that dream but, that is not an inspiring story! Inspiring is Obama being the first minority presidential canidate, Oprah for achieving what she has after all her childhood issues, even Mccains run for President after being a prisoner of war!

Matthew Mitcham is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. I met him last year when we were in the same diving circles and I don't have anything but good things to say about him. So hot. His boyfriend is really awesome too!
It is amazing what homosexuals will do to try to make themselves feel better and appear normal. You make up less than 1% of our population (Seattle Times), so get over yourselves.

Matthew was so much fun to watch during his dives, he always had a smile on his face and waved to the crowd, but then was extremely focused when he needed to be.

Saw his performance in Bejing. The Chinese favorite for the gold medal let the pressure get to him, but Matthew was determined and focused. Good on you, mate!
I think it's very inspiring that he is openly gay and I hope more athletes will come out!

I gave him props for winning the gold as well as all olympic athlets, I did not and will not take that from anyone, I just think there are more people that are more inspiring, maybe if he was born with cancer and struggled to win etc, no taking anything away from him but, if he is going to say this guy is inspiring because he is openly gay that to me is not a good enough reason to just focus on one athlet in that case metion all the other athlets from around the world male and female who achieved their dreams and goals to. I am not on this site to fight or offend anyone that is not my style I am just making a point that as much as it is great that this guy did what he did it is not someone I will personally look at say this guy inspired me!!!
