Crazy! Crazy! Crazy!
The Duff family drama that unfolded this week is fit for a TV movie…. or an episode of Living Lohan!
On Wednesday, Hilary and Haylie's millionaire dad, Bob, and 'crying poor' mother, Susan, duked it out in divorce court over Hillary's 21st birthday gift.
Hil's bday is coming up soon — September 28th.
The Wednesday battle is the latest chapter in the 18 months long, bitter divorce proceedings between the Duffster's parents.
Susan went to court to ask for $25,000 from daddy big bucks to fund a present and party for Hilary's 21st.
Duff's mom said it's the same sum she and her husband spent on a ring and a party for older sister Haylie when she turned 21 a few years ago.
Apparently, the $10,000 her husband pays her in interim support each month is "not even enough to pay my own bills" and certainly not enough to afford such expensive birthday treats. She went on to say she relies on Hilary for financial help to pay all her bills (including her pricey lawyer fees).
During cross-examination, Daddy Duff's lawyer asked Mommy Duff if her "adult millionaire daughter" would be upset if she did not receive an expensive gift and party for her birthday.
Mommy sure had a pretty dramatic answer.
She said, her daughter "is emotionally upset by the abandonment of her father" and deserves "to have some kind of recognition for a young life well-lived."
Ouch!
AND, check out the zinger Mom throws when asked where Daddy Duff would get the $25,000 to fund Hil's 21st bday gift — she said he could get it from the same place he got money to buy presents for his girlfriend's sons and "I know he's a millionaire, and he's got the funds."
Lawyers should be careful what they ask sometimes!
When Daddy Duff was asked if he wanted Hilary to receive a comparable gift to Haylie for her 21st birthday, he replied with a simple "Yes."
BUT, when he was asked if he was mad at Hilary, he hesitated and the question was withdrawn!!!!
Looks like Daddy's mad that Hil's on mom's side?!!!?!!
Well, at the end of the hearing, Susan Duff pretty much won the day in dramatic style.
First of all, millionaire Bob was ordered to pay $12,500 to Susan for Hilary's birthday.
Secondly, Bob was sentenced to spend 10 days in jail for contempt of court!!!!
He's accused of violating a court injunction against selling assets without approval and must pay $367,537 he earned from selling stocks last month into a court repository.
When mom of the Duffs saw the deputies cuffs her soon to be ex-husband, she gasped, put her hand over her mouth and said, "This isn't what I wanted."
As the cops were hauling him away, big bucks Daddy told a reporter that he wanted to talk, "I wish I could, I've got a lot to say," but refrained because of gag order that's in place.
Haylie and Hilary were not spotted in the courtroom.

Ok, yeah, this is all sad and terrible, that these girls are going thru this crazy circus with their parents' divorce. But the REAL pathetic part, is Haylie! What the fuck must she think every day of her life when she sees herself CONSTANTLY being in the shadow of Hilary? That must suck. She truly is the little engine that NEVER COULD. I swear, she's tried so hard at everything…putting out a record that never took off, all her movie roles have been as relevant to Hollywood, as the wax in my ear is to the person reading this, and if it weren't for Hilary, that bitch would've never walked on a red carpet, other than the one at her local Red Roof Inn. I don't think Hillary Duff deserves such a party. I remember spotting pictures of her stumbling out of a bar, drunk out of her mind. ….. tisk tisk…. As far as her parents go, I haven't heard all of the details on their divorce, so I can't say much for that.
$10k and she 'can't even pay her own bills'? Time for mommy dearest to downsize her life style. And I don't care what Haylie received, it does not make it manditory for hillary to get the same. This is another family where parents brought the kids into the story. Why is a judge even entertaining the party idea? since when does a parent have to fund a party for a grown child?
