……Roe v. Wade was successful based on the Due Process clause of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution. So now, McBush and PalinBush want to overturn that Decision, which is not demonstrating any loyalty to the Constitution. It is also not conducive of "change" but rather; more of the same. Americans are not concerning themselves with Roe v. Wade, so why is McBush making that a major aspect of his platform? Therein lies your first clue that giving power to McBush, will result in "his personal choices" not "your best interests".

So I've been reading these posts and this is what I think.
1)McCain choosing this woman was an act of strategic DESPERATION. If he was going up an "experienced" candidate, would she have made the cut? No! When he saw the "experience" argument wasn't enough to steer away Obama he calls for the ringer.
2) He LIES to the American people that he is going to find the most qualified Republican to be his VP, does she meet that criteria? NO! He only picks her b/c she's female… that's it. Since when does gender make you qualified for a position?

The reality is that the Constitution gives the Vice President exactly three duties: 1) Preside over the Senate; 2) Cast tie-breaking votes there; and 3) Help make the determination of whether the President is competent to remain as President.

The reality is that since about Eisenhower, the Vice President has been a Minister Without Portfolio, doing various jobs for the President–including attending foreign funerals that the President would rather not attend.

Starting with Jimmy Carter, the Vice Presidency was ramped up significantly. While Ford's Vice President, Nelson Rockefeller, was a former long-time governor of New York, Ford didn't use him for much. Mondale, for the first time, was assigned a West Wing office and no-appointment access to the President.

The Carter model has followed in most succeeding administrations, though Reagan apparently did not rely on G.H.W. Bush as much as Carter relied on Mondale. As President, Bush41 gave Quayle no-appointment access but few significant portfolios.

What Palin was saying, it seems to me, was "I don't want to be Vice President unless the President is going to give me significant policy roles. So I will want to see how the President-to-be defines the role of Vice President before I know whether I am interested."

That, to me, seems not only reasonable, but admirable as a statement that she isn't in politics for the titles.

just like I believe that if we judged our politicians on their personal lives we'd have to fire 99% of them, I also believe that I'm happy he even showed up for 143 days. Do you know how many Senators collect a check and skip work? Try pulling the ticker on attendance for your Senator and see how many days he/ she actually "clocked in". It amazes me they can skip out for whatever reason but mangae to all miraculously manage to be on the clock when it comes time to vote on whether they should get a salary increase or not. He was in shady deal with a convicted slum lord. He has time and time again refused to speak or clarify any of this. I remember when he said he'd bring the troops home in 6 months. I'm in the military and am telling you, there is no way he could do that even if he tried. I admit, Mr. McCain has also made mistakes, but has publicly said he screwed up. All i want to see is the debates, I think once and for all people will be able to more clearly see ALL the candidates.

We happen to disagree on the war and whether or not we are winning the battle. Probably a moot point for us to discuss. Neither of us will change the others mind. You're pregnant … you carry your child for weeks … you want a child. Everything seems fine and you feel great: you're gonna have a baby! At some point during your pregnancy your Ob/Gyn informs you that you've reached the stage where it's safe to perform a prenatal screening without endangering your unborn and you agree … the results come back: your child has DS.

What does that have to do with pro-choice and/or pro-life?

It's devastating news to any mother and a decision has to be made. You order a second test and that came back positive too … your kid is sick.

McCain on theother hand at 72 didn't weigh such decisions when he chose Palin. He did it for the good of McCain not the good of the country considering the criteria he said he would use to choose a VP. In essence McCain Lied to the American people… point blank.

DS is a terrible condition … don't assume that what you see on TV is the norm. It's the rare exception and that's why it's on TV. The cruel reality of DS is hidden and not in the public eye. Some suffer terribly and die as children, many are stricken by various life-threatening diseases, most are mentally challenged and can't live without constant care while hidden away in homes waiting to be adopted, and their life expectancy is cut in half … and there is more … DS is a terrible condition. What you see on TV does not reflect the norm … when you work with DS children you only work with the ones who are able to socially interact; you just don't get to see the ones who aren't. My heart goes out to all patients suffering from DS in its various forms.
Sarah Palin was well aware of the risks and 92% decided that this is too much to bear for a human being … Sarah Palin disagrees - she decided to have a child with DS and all that comes with it. He may go to high school one day, if he hasn't died from a failing heart … and his mother got one too.

Please research this for yourself. This is an over-statement by Obama and you are buying into his rhetoric. If you look deeper you will find that McCain only voted with Bush on key issues 21 out of 32 times. The figure gets inflated by meaningless legislation that everyone votes yea on. What is Obama's voting record with Bush?

Charles A. Dana, a New York City newspaper editor, gave it that name….when the 1893 Chicago World's Columbia Expo was used as city politicos to hype Chicago. The politicians' claims, regarding the Expo,… were so boastful and overblown that Dana nicknamed Chicago "the Windy City".
I was born and raised in Chicago. This was one story that one of my teachers loved to tell us…over and over and over. lol
