for those of you who "can't read that many words in one sitting" here's a summary.
The article is saying that Sarah Palin was not pregnant with a down syndrome baby which was born in April 2008 - there are photos of her when she would have been 5, 6, and 7 months pregnant and she is not showing at all.
But daughter Bristol (aged 17) was missing from high school for months due to mono during the same time Mom was supposedly preggers - and there are pics of Bristol looking more than a bit full in the tummy!!
So the article is suggesting that Bristol got knocked up and Sarah decided to make her grandson her son!!!
Sounds fishy… The media hesitated too much, I believe with John Edwards. They should bring this story up, even if just to say that we are all talking about this.
If it is true, she sounds crazy. Teenage pregnancy is one thing, but being a public figure and trying to push this scam is ridiculous.
If it's not true, she is crazy for travelling so much with a risky pregnancy and not telling people.

– On April 18, 2008, Trig was born one month premature. Sarah returned to work after three days. (Trig was diagnosed with Down’s syndrome while still in the womb.)
– Trig is not Sarah’s son, but grandson. It was her 16-year-old daughter Bristol (pictured right) who was carrying. (80% of the cases of Down’s Syndrome are in mothers under the age of 35.)
– Family had taken Bristol out of Anchorage High School due to contracting “infectious mononucleosis”. Reports say she was absent from school for five to eight months. Mono can last anywhere from two weeks to three months.

I'm not convinced. I'm 8 months pregnant and just now starting to show. And, in the pictures that evidence her not being pregnant by wearing "snug" clothes? She always has on a loose jacket or scarf or something to cover her abdomen. Plus, the situation about her leaking amniotic fluid is not that big a deal. It doesn't necessarily lead to infection, and if she wasn't having contractions, she wasn't in preterm labor. And, at 8 months/34 weeks, the baby is not treated like a preemie in the common sense. Her daughter does have a belly, but from late 2007 to March 2008 she does NOT look like she has become 7 months pregnant.

Hiding your daughter like she is some shameful slut is not only bad for the poor child's well being (especially during her pregnancy) but it sends a message that teen mothers SHOULD be ashamed and kept from the eyes of society. No one wants to encourage teen pregnancy, but that's not the way to put an end to it! She still made that baby, regardless of whether Palin claims it's hers or not.

Re: SK2002 – You can clearly tell that her daughter is not a fat teenager. In the picture in which she's wearing a green shirt she looks like she could be chubby, but in the picture with the black dress you can clearly see hip bones (fat is evenly distributed to the body, the belly looks like it very well could be carrying a fetus), amongst other places on the body where she would have fat if she were fat, rather than pregnant.

Something everyone needs to consider is although you might be eight months pregnant and huge, you are also not carrying a fetus with down syndrome. A fetus with down syndrome has fetal growth retardation. Women pregnant with a child with down syndrome will not be as big as a woman with a healthy fetus.

Re: eviancqa – Babies are treated like preemies at 34 weeks. Are you kidding me? Any baby 36 weeks and younger need to be watched closely because of the decreased amounts of surfactant that they have made at that time in utero. Even babies greater than 36 weeks can have decreased surfactant (which makes the lungs pliable and easier for a baby to breath). With out adequate surfactant babies are more than likely intubated and given artificial surfactant through an endo-tracheal tube.
If a woman is leaking amniotic fluid there is a greatly increased chance of infection to the baby because that barrier that was protecting it is now compromised and needs to be watched closely.
If she was really pregnant she would have went to a better equipped hospital where they can watch the baby closely and gave betamethasone which is a steroid used to try to increase the surfactant production of an premature baby in utero before delivered.
The baby probably wasn't delivered prematurely by her daughter. When the baby was born that is when Palin said she delivered which was early compared to the dates she gave the press. She never had a belly in any of the pictures. In one of the pictures she is wearing a loose blazer but has a tight belt around her waist underneath it.

…Her daughter does not look pregnant in either of those pics. My sister is pregnant with her second child and it looks totally different than that in that stage or other early stages. Also, Downs kids are generally born to older mothers not healthy 16-yr-olds. Weird article.

My mother is currently 8 months pregnant with her 5th child, I also watched her have her 4th child. In both cases, at 7 months, she was HOOOOOGE!!!!!1 Like a fookin house. By Pallin's age, the risk is 1:30 or higher. Under age 19, the risk is 1:1250. The people who believe this rumor without proof are waaayyyy too gullible. Especially the long post by the "Ash" person who uses the phrase "would have went". Wonder where that person went to school?? And surfactant does not make lungs more pliable as much as it keeps alveoli expanded- it's a detergent that breaks up surface tension to keep the alveoli from collapse.
