Former Cokehead Helen Mirren's Controversial Take on Date Rape

We think the publicist for Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren must have had the day off when the thesp recently opened up to GQ magazine.
We're not used to someone being so candid!

Dame Helen revealed she did all types of drugs, loved coke but stopped doing the drug because of a Nazi war criminal:
"I loved coke. I never did a lot, just a little bit at parties. What ended it for me was when they caught Klaus Barbie, the Butcher of Lyons, in the early 80s. He was in South America and living off the proceeds as a cocaine baron. I never touched it again. I grasped the full horrifying structure of what brings coke to our parties in Britain….I hated marijuana. It made me paranoid and unhappy."
There was also a horrifying experience after taking the hallucinogenic drug LSD in her 20s with a group of bohemian friends. She vowed: "Never again."
Sadly, she also revealed that she was date raped a few times. BUT, her views on date rape are surely going to kick up a storm.
The actress said date-rape was a "tricky area" and something men and women had to work out between themselves.

Though she did say it wasn't rape if a guy engages in sex with a woman if she says 'no' at the last second, she thinks a guy shouldn't be brought into court for rape if the couple were engaged in sexual activity:
"I don't think she can have that man into court under those circumstances. I guess it is one of the subtle parts of the men/women relationship that has to be negotiated and worked out between them."
"It's such a tricky area, isn't it? Especially if there is no violence."
"If a woman voluntarily ends up in a man's bedroom with her clothes off… Look at Mike Tyson. I don't think he was a rapist."
The actress who played Queen Elizabeth II has been cast as brothel madam in her next flick and went on to say her looks have been a 'disadvantage' for her:

Well, if she has been repeatly date-raped (as she stated in her interview), something's off. I am date-rape victim, and as a result of that rape, got pregnant. I went through with the pregnancy and now have a 2 year old. But I will never get over that "date-rape"….rape or date rape…it's the same thing. Tramatic…..envading…..horrible. I think what she is saying is that there is a difference between a violent rape and one when a woman is being taken advantage of. I know when I was in my teens I had a few nights where I got too drunk and went too far by letting someone talk me into it. Some females take that mistake as a personal lapse of judgment, and others cry rape. Like she said, it depends on the situation and what the guy and girl agree really happened.

Actually, I agree with her. Date rape is, mostly, about women and girls not asserting themselves and communicating clearly about what they want and don't want. It is a tricky area that deals with being raised to be polite as opposed to stating your needs in a clear way. Women were trained to say, "Gosh, I don't really know that I want to do this," as opposed to saying, "Get the fuck off me." It's a lesson that you learn as you get older and wiser.
Plus, there is also that whole thing about worrying you were slutty - a word Perez loves to throw around when a girl misbehaves.
Love Helen Mirren and I love the fact that she has an intelligent opinion to offer.

I think Perez did a poor job of editing this interview down. If you read what HE wrote, he says that Helen agrees that "if a guy engages in sex with a woman if she says 'no' at the last second" then it is STILL rape. I think the point that Perez was trying to make a big deal of is when she goes on to speak about if the couple are already having sex. I don't think its a question of the woman saying "no" and the man forcing her. It sounds more like she is referring to a lapse in judgment or the woman letting things go further then she wanted, without saying anything.
I love Helen Mirren. I would have to read the entire interview, but I find it hard to believe that Helen would not consider any kind of forcible sex as rape.

For example, when you are raped you do not secrete any fluids (or very little) making sex very very very painful and creating bruising and broken blood vessels within the vagina and outside the vagina.
