Gossip Girl Delivers
There's some good news for the execs at the CW.
After a really bad summer for the network, the second season premiere of Gossip Girl on Monday night got the show's highest ratings ever for them in all key demographics.
GG was able to return with a 6% increase in adult viewers since its premiere last yer. And it was also up 10% among the network's key demographics, people between 18-34.
It's also believed to have served as a strong lead-in to a show we're surprised is still on, One Tree Hill. Shockingly, its numbers were also up compared to its last season premiere.
But the big numbers for CW will come tonight with the premiere of its much talked about 90210.
We're still hoping it doesn't suck!
As for the other networks, Fox didn't do as well with its season premier of Prison Break. The show was down 21% from last year.
And NBC's Deal or No Deal came close in the ratings. They also finally managed to give away $1 million. Hope we didn't spoil it for you. If you even watch it.
With nothing else big going on tonight, it looks like 90210 will take the lead!

Re: cococouture – This show along with other "teen shows" are showing the people who lost touch with reality, that these things are happening not only in someplaces but, in our backyards. They sometimes seem to exagerate but, not really cause then you talk to the teens of today and they will tell you oh yeah that happens. I am older but, very open to hearing what younger people say and you know what these shows know what they are talking about, as a mom of a baby I am glad to know these things so I will never be blind sided thinking that my child is going to school and not hearing about sex, gossip and will at some point underage drink. Those are facts of life no matter if we think we are perfect parents, may a few get lucky and the kids actually turn out good.

One Tree Hill is an excellent show. I watched both last night and Gossip girl seems to be nothing but a show about over privileged, rich snobs. Maybe I have to see it more, but I'm just saying. It's no surprise to me that OTH is still on.
Missing from that group shot: the gorgeous and so sexy Taylor Momsen. Taylor is the only reason that I watch the show. Taylor is going to be a big star as she gets more beautiful and talented. I'm sure we will see her acting in an A-list movie soon.

Interesting that you say you are surprised that One Tree Hill is still on TV- Gossip Girl season 1 and One Tree Hill season 5 were released a week apart. I work at a DVD store, and we are completely sold out of One Tree Hill, and keep having people come in and ask for it, while we have only sold a few copies of Gossip Girl.

Love the way you didn't mention that in overall viewers though Gossip Girl was down. Considering it came in last year at around # 129 thats not too good.
I only watched gossip girl last night because it's now on before one tree hill. it's the only time i've ever watched it and it doesn't even come close to being as good as OTH. That being said, I'm surprised by your comment. You can't believe OTH is still on the air? That comment leads me to believe that you've never even taken the time to watch it. Their season DVD's usually sell out within days of being released, so obviously they have some sort of legitimate fan base which is why it's still on the air.
