Extending Her Olympic Moment
As we mentioned last month, U.S. athlete Nastia Liukin won the gold medal for all-around gymnastics at the Beijing Olympics.
Now it looks like it's Liukin's turn to take the spotlight and run with it!.
The young gymnast will soon be all over the place.
First up? She's set to appear in ads for Cover Girl this fall.
The gymnast will also have her own Nastia Liukin Gold jeans and tops produced by Vanilla Star Jeans. Those will be out for sale this winter.
Liukin will also get her image featured on a Wheaties box!
Looks like Michael Phelps isn't the only athlete pimping himself out.
And, as if all that weren't enough, Nastia will also be appearing on a future episode of Gossip Girl.
Oh, and there's also the possibility of her getting her own line of activewear with GK.
During a recent interview, Liukin said, “You work so hard for this, and you’re getting so many opportunities, and now is the time to take those things because they don’t last forever. Winning the Olympics can change your life, and nothing can prepare you for that. You can go with the flow and enjoy the ride.”
She's right. Enjoy it now while you can!
As for the fame she's receiving, Liukin says, “It’s weird. Now anywhere I go everyone notices me. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to it.”

But she does want to be a good role model, adding “I always looked up to the older girls, and I feel like the kids look up to me, so I feel I have to set a good example for them. I’ll do anything to inspire them and help them live their dreams.”
As for her futute, Liukin adds, “I feel I have more to do,” she says. “I have nine World Championship medals, and I’m tied with Shannon Miller, so I want to beat that. That’s the competitor in me. And I’d love to do some acting and modeling, but not as my career.”

What is your f*cking problem with this girl????? She's been working her ass off since she was four or five years old. She deserves all the recognition and all the good things that come her way. Gymnastics is not a very long career. You have to seize every single opportunity.
IMO she is the Bill Gates of gymnastics. She's accomplished in a little more over a decade what Gates has accomplished in over 30 years of hard work: being the best in their respective fields, fortune, respect, fame, recognition…
So keep on picking on the bristers, the avrils, the chens and the lezlos and leave this hard working girl ALONE.

HELLO! Nastia is the Women's All-Around Gold Medalist. The BEST in the world. Shannon Miller was never AA Champion. Obviously, the same fate does not await Nastia. You don't know what you're talking about when it comes to gymnastics. And OF COURSE people are going to be noticing her…for the rest of her life! That medal is the Hold Grail of the sport. Don't talk unless you know what you're talking about!

Nastia is an amazing person who worked incredibly hard to win the all-around, and she deserves every minute of her fame. Olympians typically have a pretty short shelf life, so she's smart to try and do a bunch of endorsements now….then she can be set forever! I love her. And I'm super excited to hear that she'll be on Gossip Girl…that is so frickin' awesome!!!!

Sorry kiddo. Normally I love your snarky attitude, but not this time. Nastia rules! She's toiled in a gym for 40 hours per week for most of her life (while most Americans barely walk farther than the distance from fridge to couch). Not only this, but she perfomed under pressure–when it counted. To win the biggest win that there is in the hardest sport in the world. She deserves all of the money and fame that comes her way. She is a great role model for hard work and dedication to one's goals. She shows that you don't just quit when the going gets tough. I'm not a gymnast but I'm a huge fan because I find these athetes' dedication to be extremely inspiring.
So put that in your pipe and smoke it, Perez!
I'm all for recognizing Nastia's hard work and amazing achievements, but…Cover Girl?!?!? uhh I don't think so.
That's great! These people are such good role models, I really respect all of them for thier hard work.

Too bad Shannon Miller came to Sacramento to visit the gym where i work last friday.
The Chinese athlete looks extremely fearful and completely exhausted… makes you wonder what the Chinese gymnasts were put through leading up to the Olympics… side note: Perez… must you have those offensive weightloss ads on your blog??? Since when is it ok to to imply that overweight people are gross and not to be tolerated? Very offensive advertising. Not sure (having been overweight yourself) why you wouldn't have perceived that about those ads…
Love Nastia! She's a great role model for young aspiring gymnasts and one of the few remaining ARTISTIC female gymnasts around. She was a complete breath of fresh air in Beijing.
I can't imagine the pressure she was under trying to emulate her Dad's feats 20 years earlier, so I think she should take everything she gets offered from her achievements and run with it.
I know if my little girl was old enough I'd much rather see her wear something that Nastia does than the likes of Lohan, Spears or Hannah Montana.
