Such A Cheap Ploy
As we mentioned last week, former One Day at a Time star Mackenzie Phillips was arrested at the Los Angeles International Airport for allegedly possessing heroin and cocaine.
The D.A. has since charged Phillips with two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, heroin and cocaine.
And now, the drug-loving actress has entered into rehab.
That's one good note at least.
And a really smart publicity move!
Her attorneys can now argue that she's taking the right steps to dealing with her drug problem.
There's one thing that might hurt her, though. That's the fact that this is her TENTH time in rehab!
If at first you don't succeed….
Hope she gets a frequent visitor discount!

wow 10 times…I used to love heroin to but i finally learned enough is enough…i wasn't truely living now i am clean and have been for 3 years… i feel so much better.

I wish her luck..I dated a heroin addict, there's nothing they won't do to get their shit…he was into the coke/heroin concoction too!! nasty shit!! They do that when heroin isn't enough to get you high anymore….it's such a disgusting disease…. it's ironic that it preys on weak people and they have to be the strongest to fight it!! so sad for her and those that love her.

You are a complete and utter cunt, Mario. Being a drug addict who is having one hell of a time kicking her habit is hardly a publicity move. How can you even think that? Do you eat, breathe and shit money/fame? Drugs can have crippling effects on people and not everyone is able to bounce back from it no matter how hard they try. So get the fuck off her ass and worry about your own pork loin fat ass.
After writing on a previous post about andyaber and his friends, I said they lacked self-respect, and then I started thinking that this person is to be pitied.
What a horrible childhood he must have had, his parents probably beat him sensless, and most likely there was abuse of other kinds. Someone so pathetic had to have had an horrible life, so I will try my hardest to just not read his comments or to not comment on them myself, I do not want to add to this troubled young mans woes, lest he moves on to something worse. You now have my sympathy instead of my scorn.
I'm going to give her a thumbs up for keeping at it, even if 10th time.

Kind of an issue when it 3,4,5 times in same year, but 10 times over the what - 20 yrs. since she first tried it? That's not all that bad. Most people can't diet for 2 weeks without cheating — its kind of the same deal on a certain level. Yep, more serious consequences - but cheating on a diet is still the same - you know better, you do it anyway.

Justice is sooo lenient when stardom is involved. What if it was the average guy/gal next door doing drugs for the 10th time and getting caught? A much stiffer penalty. CA seems to be the worst.

Re: kakeys – Andy's comments do show he is deeply disturbed. He can't write anything at all that makes sense. His need for attention by basically writing a porn movie tells me he has abuse issues of some sort. Instead of screaming for help on here, he should address his problems in a more appropriate environment.
Mackenzie is the only addict for whom I have sympathy as she's really battled her addiction and thus far lost. Maybe that's the only way she'll survive-bouncing back and forth between sobriety and addiction.
All me can says is "WOW". Why cant "child stars" end up normal, just once!

It does not matter how many times you go to rehab. As long as you get help. I am in recovery and it is so much easier to stay clean than to get clean, at least it is for me. She did it before and she will do it again, or not.

What's the point? I mean at least she knows her weeknesses. Maybe should should just save the rehab $$ and spend it on a majah binge session. Embrace your faults and go with it. Let's face it - no acting prospects on her horizon, no money coming in (I don't think the syndicate One Day At A Time anymore), lot's of free time…I have to say it, but sobriety isn't for everyone and neither is rehab. Maybe she should just cut her losses and slam smack till her veins collapse. I loved it when they were booking her and someone asked her if she was a diabetic and she said no, besides her drug problem she was a healthy woman - class act.
Don't you all remember her father was one of the worst junkies on planet Earth? He got her high as early as 10 years old! He did cocaine with his own 14 year old daughter! She was surrounded by drugs from the day she was born! REALLY hard to quit something that's so deeply ingrained in your physiology. I feel very sorry for her. It's been a lifelong battle for her.

I was watching that bio show behind the sitcom scandels last wednesday, the day she was arrested. I happened to watch the 'one day at a time' episode where she was in an old interview saying that she was clean for at least 6 years. If that was true, it is sad she went back. Unfortunately, she did not take total ownership in her problems. alot, but not total-like stabs at val bertanelli- I called Valerie every 6 months leaving a message that I was clean, she never called back, BUT THAT WAS OKAY. Why bring it up if it were okay. Over and over she would say something that Valerie did that was against her, BUT IT WAS OKAY. What is not okay is that she has a son and while he is over 18, his childhood must have been hell. Is he an addict or was he able to escape the family traits? Her half sister was the one trying to bail her out. I am truely surprised that she is still alive and it is only 10 times to rehab. It was 8 times by the time she was in her early 20's Only 2x since the end of the 80's???????

No surprise here. Her dad John Phillips of the Mamas and Papas was a career addict and had to go to rehab a dozen times before he finally went straight. Or maybe he got scared when he had to have a liver transplant? It's sad because I always liked Mackenzie Phillips - she's so funny in "American Graffiti."

Perez- your comments about drug use are routinely disturbing and innacurate. No matter how many times she's made these attempts in the past, rehabilitation efforts are far from "cheap ploys" or "publicity moves." Addiction is a lifelong condition- it doesn't go away after 70 days at a clinic. It is something a person battles for life, and some are more successful than others. Those who suffer relapses are not desperate for attention and to say so is to undermine their acknowledgement of their own problem. Also, your comments about the presidential and vice-presidential candidates' drug use is so harmful! I agree the Palin's hypocrisy is a problem- and that a woman who won't fund sex-ed programs in high schools should expect teen pregnancy to result, even if it's in her own family. But I don't agree the her or Obama's drug use should be paraded around like idle gossip. I think that we as a nation, and you as an individual should be past caring whether or not someone inhaled.
