De Niro The Diva

Robert De Niro was set to star alongside Mel Gibson in the new flick Edge of Darkness.
It's a dramatic movie directed by Martin Campbell which began shooting last month.
De Niro was cast to play an operative sent to clean up some evidence pertaining to the murder of a young woman. Blah blah. Another tough guy role for him. BORING!
As for Gibson, he's playing the victim's father and is also a homicide detective.
However, things change quickly in Hollywood and De Niro has dropped out!
De Niro actually arrived on set this week and apparently couldn't even last seven days.
A spokesman for De Niro simply said, "Sometimes things don't work out; it's called creative differences."
It's actually called being a Diva. If you've already signed on to the part, why would you drop out once filming started?
The movie will continue filming, though. They're just going to film around De Niro's scenes until they find a new actor.

This role is not just another "boring tough guy role. The movie is based on a TV miniseries from the 80s - at the time, it was quite simply one of the most amazing, exciting, thought-provoking things I've ever seen on the screen, large or small, and the role of Darius Jedburgh (that de Niro was going to play) is an absolute corker.
I just hope they do it justice!

Sorry, Perez. When you have accomplished all the stuff DeNiro has, you can criticize him. I don't think I ever read a bad thing about him. I never ever read he was a diva, so I'm thinking maybe he did the right thing to drop out. He knows movies better then we do. He has also directed them. If he was being a diva, which I doubt, no one has the right more then him. As far as I'm concerned I love Robert De Niro and he can do any damned thing he wants.
His new film with Pacino is getting bad buzz about being a paycheck film afnd not a serious "film" so maybe he decided this was too formulaic (it does sound just like a comeback vehicle for Gibson nothing more) and bailed. And this guy IS one of the best actors of all time. Maybe he knows a thing or two.
