With Oprah Winfrey not wanting to interview Sarah Palin, or any other candidate until after elections, the Republican Vice Presidential candidate will have to settle for Charles Gibson.
Palin has agreed to a sit down interview with ABC's Gibson later this week.
This will be Palin's first TV interview since John McCain publicly announced her as his running mate.
Gibson will fly to Alaska and interview her over two days.
Rick Davis, McCain's campaign manager, says of Palin, "She's not scared to answer questions. But you know what? We run our campaign, not the news media. And we'll do things on our timetable."
Gibson did interview McCain during the Republican National Convention, though he chose not to ask about Palin's personal life.
Later, he stated on his blog, "Once you know about her daughter's pregnancy, once you know about her husband's political interest in the Alaska Independent Party, once you know about the special nature of their latest child, I think that's enough."
Well, he BETTER ask her some good questions or the interview is going to suck!
As for Davis, he added, "Why would we want to throw Sarah Palin into a cycle of piranhas called the news media that have nothing better to ask questions about than her personal life and her children? So until at which point in time we feel like the news media is going to treat her with some level of respect and deference, I think it would be foolhardy to put her out into that kind of environment."
Boring! If it were any other candidate, you know they'd be asking all sorts of questions.

As for Democratic VP hopeful, Sen. Joe Biden, he's already challenged Palin to sit for interviews.
He said in a recent interview, "Eventually she's going to have to sit in front of you like I'm doing and have done. Eventually she's going to have to answer questions and not be sequestered. Eventually she's going to have to answer questions about her record. The difficult hurdles are to come, I think: The first interviews she'll face on issues; the first time she's closely questioned on positions she's taken in her state; and then, of course, the debate with Joe Biden."
Let's see what Gibson decides to ask Palin.

If her 'performance' at the convention is anything to go by, she'll only stretch the truth unitil it is unrecognizable or lie outright no matter who asks the questions.
Her handlers have been so careful about what questions interviewers are allowed to ask. They wouldn't even allow questions on foreign policy at one point. If she wants to swim with the sharks in politics, she'd better grow some teeth and learn to answer any question that comes along.
I am still undecided, but it worries me that they are keeping this woman on a short leash. No interviews, no press conferences, one debate. They only let her do scripted things and stand next to John McCain. I don't buy anything unless I can examine it. I am worried they know she can't answer the tough questions or has some extreme answers.
Watch they will let Limbaugh or Hannity interview her and then say - "See, she does interviews".
She wants to work for us and to get the job she needs to let us ask some tough questions in the interview process. You don't want to take a job interview with the American people - then fine DON'T INTERVIEW FOR THE JOB!

When the Wasilla librarian refused to ban the books, Mayor Palin tried to have her fired. The local community had to get together to protect her.

I'm sure the press will be much tougher on Palin than they have EVER been on Obama. Talk about the "kid gloves" treatment. Obama has benefited from a "look the other way" press that has tossed easy, under-hand questions since the beginning of his campaign. He refused to talk with the one news outlet that may have asked tough questions (Fox News) until he could use the compromise to get some headlines. That interview BTW will be on the next 3 nights and I hope all of you watch it.

I can understand McCain keeping Palin away from the cameras until they could get her up to speed on the issues. Let's not forget, her job up until two weeks ago was to run the state of Alaska, not preparing to be the next VP. Biden and Obama have been running for the top spot for almost 2 years. Obama neglected his Senate duties for 2 years while he campaigned. Palin has not and could not do that. She had a state to run. She had no immediate aspirations for national politics so no reason to immerse herself in national issues. But, when her country came calling, she responded and is now doing everything she can possibly do to get ready.

It is unquestionable that the McCain campaign will require ABC to submit the list of questions and approve them in advance as a condition to the interview. So, she will have scripted answers. She doesn't change the 2 most important things people need to remember: 1. John McCain is running for president and under his tax plan he cuts taxes for every income group by 3% BUT also intends to tax your medical benefits paid by your employer. Obama cuts taxes by 5% for 99% of Americans and only increases taxes on the super-wealthy and he doesn't tax our medical benefits. Can you afford to pay taxes on the medical benefits paid by your employer? and 2. John McCain says our troops can't come home until there is "victory" in Iraq. But he's never defined victory. What, specifically, is the finish line those brave troops are fighting to cross over? What do they need to accomplish to come home with honor? The reality is McCain wants some kind of glorious finish he never got in Viet Nam. Can our country (can YOU) really afford to keep fighting war after war after war after war?
I can't wait for her to make Biden lose his temper. He's a hothead who doesn't like to be pushed and guess what? She's going to push !!!!

I forgot to add that Obama's step-father who helped raise him was Muslim as is his half brother (who claimed that Obama is Muslim, this is also on video and easily accessible to anyone with a computer!) Obama was also registered as a Muslim at school in Indoneisa. So if BHO isn't Muslim, then at the very least, he has significant exposure to the Muslim religion at a very young and impressionable age. Like I said, I have no problem with Muslims per say…freedom of religion and all that…but I don't want one for president. Remember Sept. 11, 2001? I do and I'd rather not take any chances on having a terrorist/Muslim sympathizer in the nation's highest office. No more lies, Barry! There a many things I want to hear hear thoughts on but I'm especially interested to hear her to tell Amercian women and their daughters that she believes that abortion should be illegal even if a woman was raped. If she answers yes then I would like the follow up to be even if it were a family member? So many of her 19th century views are appalling but this one is completely unacceptable.
