Jessica Simpson's career as a singer is really tanking these days!

Hey Perez! I work across the street from GMA. Jessica Simpson gave a concert on 44th Street this morning, and there had to be less than 50 people there. It was pretty embarrassing. The whole street was closed off for such a small, dismal crowd. If there are any pictures of her performing on the wire, I'm sure they wont' show the crowd.
Anyone have pictures to share with the rest of us?
Updates: Another reader - also named John - tells us that Jessica stopped her performance of With You because she couldn't hear herself, she claimed..
"It was a disaster," he tells us.

I flipped through the channel and saw a lot of people there. She did choose an interesting outfit for summer though.
She made an odd comment about saying she was happy about being herself by performing country and went then sang the with you song. She asked the band to start over again and they just seemed to play louder to her approval. I changed the channel because I am simply not a fan. good luck with that though.
I really thought she looked pregnant. Not just the cut of the dress that made her tummy appear pregnant, either.

wasnt a huge deal at all….your emailer didn't mention that she started right back up when the problem was apparently fixed. she stopped, then restarted and it was fine. not sure that constitutes a distaster!!

I am surprised you did not cover her debut appearance at the Grand Ole Opry this past weekend! It was big news down here in Nashville, and was aired live on CMT.
Jessica opened the show to thunderous applause from a crowd of about 3,000 tourists and Nashville natives. She did a good job on the songs she picked, tho they were belted out with a bit more bounce than the Opry is used to, and got a very warm response from the audience.
Her beautiful dress was extremely low-cut, and she performed quite energetically… so I was worried for her. A nipslip can ruin a country career. But the double-sided tape held fast and her performance was an unequivocal success.
I think her most winning moment for me was when the CMT cameraman caught her in the wings while Loretta Lynn was performing - Jessica was snapping pics with her digital camera just like any starstruck fan.
I'm not a Jessica Simpson fan, as I tend to like either heavy metal or classic country, and she is pure pop no matter what she sings. But she did a great job at the Opry on Saturday. Props to her, Perez! And post a pic of that hawt dress if you can snag one off CMT legally.
Re: Sammy – I didn't say her 15 minutes were up. Simply put that there was a time when anything she touched turned to gold. Now it mostly turns into a charred mess. She's talked about more for whom she's dating, what she's flubbed up, or what another *famous* person has said about her. Not because she's doing a bang up job at something and singing her ass off. She really wore out her welcome because she was overexposed and it hasn't occurred to her or her manager to take a few years off, lay low and try for a come back. She's a joke. I don't care what she's blogging about, who really reads what she writes (although chances are it isn't her doing the writing).
She should pose for Playboy, take the million dollars and call it a career.

She may not be bright, but I must admit– I loved the two songs that I've heard off of her new album. I can't wait to hear more. I might even pick up her cd. And for all her other flaws, at least the girl has good taste in men!

I think Jessica should count her blessings and "retire." Her shelf life has expired. I predicted two years ago that she would not last. She has a following, a small one, but still…I think she should be a "product endorsement" celebrity stuff, and do fashion and jewelry, handbags, skin care, etc. for Home Shopping Network. She could also write a "spiritual autobiography" and "find God." Then in a couple of years, she can release a CD of spirituals and classic country…on the Home Shopping Network. She should marry that football player and get pregnant ASAP, too. She can be on the cover of all those second tier magazines for fat gurls who live in trailer parks. Having a baby would get her the cover of Family Circle Magazine…if they still publish.
P.S. Why would you feel sad for somebody who has very little talent! It has carried her very far and she is worth millions. She is sad bcz she gets no attention. This wasn't about splitting with Nick…her idea. This is since she had that meltdown at that thing for Dolly Parton and ran off the stage. She will be fine as soon as she accepts that she can't get all that attention. The public is fickle. They moved on and so should she.

I WAS AT THE CONCERT!!!! THERE WERE DEF. MORE THAN 50 PEOPLE THERE..ARE YOU KIDDING? THERE WERE PEOPLE TRYING TO WATCH AND THERE WAS A SECTION WHERE THEY WOULDNT EVEN LET YOU STOP SO PEOPLE JUST KEPT WALKING AROUND!!!!
PLUS. THE WEATHER IS SO BAD RIGHT NOW. THUNDERSTORMS AND STUFF, SO I'M SURE PEOPLE WEREN'T VERY WILLING TO COME OUT AND STAND IN THE RAIN!

I thought she handled that really well guys! She can't hear her band, so she halts her crew and gets them started again. That's how a real musician does it…a luxury that the over-produced concert "shows" don't have the option of because they are so pre-programmed. And say what you want about her personal life - but she can sing a lot better than other popgirls.

Sometimes you have to start over…it's part of being a performer. Her first old song was great, but the new country song needs a little work. She is not a county singer. That's the problem with the country son.

I think she has a GREAT voice!! That didn't sound bad, it was live…. She just needs the right song and she would sound awesome… Maybe something more upbeat…. She has been bashed a lot and for no reason… What a bummer! GL Jessica! It will come for you!
Wow..ok I just saw this little segment and let me just say…No.1 She looked like she was hiding a pregnancy.. she wearing some kind of giant bag dress with frouf on the front and she cut her hair up to her shoulders…either that or she is using her hair-do product in the wrong way. No.2 She was singing strangely…over pronunciating every word and it sounded like stank nuts, she does better with the traditional breathy sound that she does, guess she was trying to get the country twang? Fail!
They only paned to the same 2 girls as far as the crowd, and they were very into it despite Jessica having to start over in the middle of With You. She stated " Woah, I can't hear a thing, ready? ( to the drummer) one..two..three..uhhgggg…and there was a pause from the band like …"wtf?" and then they started over.
Hey, it's difficult to sing well at 8:30 in the morning. There are more than 50 people there. And she looks matronly as hell. This is some awful shit!

I don't feel too bad for Jessica. I normally watch The Today Show, but once or twice I've changed it over to Good Morning America and I don't know if it's always like that but they hardly have anyone outside. The Today Show always has a good crowd outside and for their concerts. I don't think Good Morning America does.
not that i love her music but I thought it would be fair to mention the monsoon NYC experienced right around the time JS was performing.
I saw it. It was bad!!!!! She did stop the band casue she couldn't hear herself. She dressed frumpy. Do I feel bad HELL NO… If you got it good if not whatever……………………. She is history.
She just did a concert in Northern NY on the Akwesasne reservation. They had a about 2 thousand seats available. Sold about 600 tickets and only around 200 showed. Must be the ticket holders had something better to do than watch a has been.
I just bought her new album today and its actually really good! I've never been a fan of Jessica's music, but I've always been a fan of her. I was nervous for her album but its actually good! I'm proud of her! People need to lay off of her.
