He Screwed Himself!

Screen hog!
Star Trek movie director J.J. Abrams wrote William Shatner's Dr. Kirk into the upcoming new Trek film, but the actor's vanity effed it all up.
J.J. talked about the exclusion of Shatner in the new movie and revealed his side of the story in a recent interview:
It was very tricky. We actually had written a scene with him in it that was a flashback kind of thing, but the truth is, it didn't quite feel right. The bigger thing was that he was very vocal that he didn't want to do a cameo. We tried desperately to put him in the movie, but he was making it very clear that he wanted the movie to focus on him significantly, which, frankly, he deserves. The truth is, the story that we were telling required a certain adherence to the Trek canon and consistency of storytelling. It's funny — a lot of the people who were proclaiming that he must be in this movie were the same people saying it must adhere to canon. Well, his character died on screen. Maybe a smarter group of filmmakers could have figured out how to resolve that.
Shatner should know better!
It's Star Trek, not a soap opera!
Trekkies would never go for a return-from-the-dead story line! Would they????

huh?
what are u talkin bout?
love me?
Stick to Priceline Billy!
Shat is a DORK!!!
trekkies are weird. there's this chick here at work who adores anything and everything sci-fi and dresses up and goes to things. she's weird. she also brings a stuffed dog to work cuz it reminds her of her dead pooch. she loves star trek. yeah…never got into it.
blahhhh
Love you perez
nevermind. dont care
big fat douche.
I don't care if the guy acts like a jerk every now and then. He is still Captain Kirk. His head is like a meatball on top of a pile of mashed potatoes. A Star Trek remake without him would be just plain wrong. Rewrite the script. He is the original hot mess. Captain Kirk Now!!
It is CATAIN Kirk. Not Doctor. Small point, But Perez brother you need to get the little things right.
What a mess
Why would he want to come back? He is dead in the movie. Just do a little time on screen and call it a day. Then people will remember to watch Boston Legal! Times have changed buddy!
Its science fiction anything is possible…
Hey fucktard it's Captain Kirk and Dr Spock died and came back miraculously and those were monster hits at the box office. Why do you make a mockery of this shit? Our comments are more often correcting or chastising you? Don't even try to say it's your genuous. You eff it up.
Give us a Star Trek movie starring Shatner NOW!!
I never understood why William Shatner thinks he is all that, he is ugly and old!! I always did like Dr Spock better
Bill is the freakin' king of the world–he can do whatever he likes!
It's Captain Kirk (was an Admiral for a short time) and Mr. Spock.
I LOVE,LOVE Star Trek. but they are right one has to stick to the cannon. Just have to,I would have loved to see William Shatner as a young Kirk's father or something, that is the only thing that would work, because we all know the first captain of the Enterprise was Pike so….anyway William Shatner is a good actor and i want to see more of him in the movies. Also, Tekk Wars wasn't that bad
Re: karma13 – Well Spock came back from the dead, his person was inside Dr. McCoy and then Project Genesis helped to bring back or rebirth Spock so why can't Kirk come back from the Nexus all healed with only a scar in the chest?
You kid, you kid..lolz ..there is no plot twist to which the trekkies won't succumb..they will follow the mythologgy whereever it leads, and discard whatever doesn't suit..
Captain Kirk (NOT Doctor) and most serious Star Trek fans prefer Trekker not Trekkie — why? heck, who knows?! LOL!
Oh no, no, no, that is sacrilegious to try and "bring back" Captain Kirk. He was killed off in the Next Generations movie. He's dead. Move along.
Star Trek fans have already embraced the "back from the dead" thing once. Spock came back from the dead on one of the first movies!
Shatner RULES!
.
They've gone back in time hundreds of years to rescue whales for goodness sake.
.
They've had numerous characters/creatures with God-like powers.
.
Just have Q pop into a scene, snap his fingers, and bring Kirk back. You adhere to the canon that gave Q near omnipotent powers and get Kirk. It really is that easy, and any level III Trekkie geek could have told Abrams as much.
It was such a happy day when Spock returned as a result of the Genesis project… after the sadness caused by Khan! Bah! Never say never in Star Trek
Obvious your question was in jest Perez. Yes us Trek fans have embraced the back from the dead deal since the original.
However, exept for the hard-core "Trekkers", we Trekkies are getting tired of Shatners bullshit. Fuck him. If they want a cameo have one from one of the lesser characters who would embrace it.
Besides, Kirk would NEVER have let himself get so paunchy!!!! He ould look rediculous. They'd have to bring in Pixar to make that man look like Kirk.
He's too dang old to be Captain Kirk for this film! And PLEASE, no back-from-the-dead plot lines….
I thought you were a trekie? and why is that derogatory? This show has been a creative masterpiece from day one and believe me, in this day and age Hollywood wish they had people to write as such. The reason they are confused is because there is no "CREATIVITY" anymore. We're a Judd Apatow generation, don't get me wrong the guy is good in his own genre. But to get SCI-FI down requires skills.
Trekkie fans will definitely stand for a back from the dead story! Remember Star Trek 3: Search for Spock?!
Actually, Spock does die in one movie and returns in the next. I'm no trekkie but i know that much. However, spock was vulcan not human so whatevs.
Re: LisaK90210 –
.
Spock was half human. His mother was an earth girl and, presumably, easy.
