The Gayest Of The Gay
Filed under: Gay Gay Gay > Personally Perez > Music Minute
Out Magazine has compiled their list of the 100 Gayest Albums Of All-Time for their new issue.
The mag asked over 100 musicians, writers, actors, performance artists, critics, and bloggers for their help in determining who made the list, and they asked us to submit our top ten list.
So….
Here is Perez Hilton's top 10 Greatest, Gayest Albums of All Time:
10. Britney Spears, …Baby One More Time: This seems like such a long time ago! These were the golden days.
9. Regina Spektor, Begin To Hope: The new Tori Amos, and that's a good thing! 'Nuff said.
8. Abba, Gold: It's amazing how well all these songs have held up! Abba is definitely pop. Pop is a good thing. Too many people are afraid of it, though. Thankfully, we'll always have Abba!
7. The Carpenters, Yesterday Once More: Barbara Streisand can kiss my butt. Her voice does nothing for me! Karen Carpenter, on the other hand, sounds like an angel. Her voice is so smooth and she makes it seem effortless. The Carpenters' songs are sweet, innocent and so melodic.
6. Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Original Motion Picture Soundtrack: My favorite musical of all time! A queer classic. John Cameron Mitchell & Steven Trask created something truly special. Every gay boy or girl or transgender youth can relate to this story of an outsider looking for love and acceptance. And the music elevates that story to beautiful and epic heights!
5. Aimee Mann, Magnolia (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack): This movie introduced me to the music of Aimee Mann, and I am so thankful for that. Both the film and the soundtrack are great works of art.
4. Mika, Life In Cartoon Motion: Every song on this record could have been a single! His music makes me happy. Mika may not have broken in America, but everywhere else in the world, he is huge. He's also gonna have great staying power!
3. Sarah McLachlan, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy: OK, I have a confession to make. Musically, I'm a bit of a lesbian. I went to all three Lilith Fairs. And I'm not ashamed! I listen to this album and hear something new every time. That's truly special!
2. Tori Amos, Little Earthquakes: This album opened my eyes to the power of music. A song has the ability to convey so many emotions, and that's exactly what this exquisite album does. It takes you on a very powerful journey. Her best album to date!
1. Madonna, The Immaculate Collection: Gayer than a rainbow flag! No fag's CD collection is complete without this one. To this day, Holiday has a chemical reaction over me. I hear it and instantly am in a better mood, no matter how crappy my day has been. Madonna is my ultimate icon, and this is her immaculate collection.

Madonna is the best!!
MIss carpenter is on the list! Congrats!
We have a Winner!
madonna is the queen.
Sarah McLachlan, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy IS ONE OF MY ABSOLUTE FAV'S!!! my favorite song is Fear
Loves it!
…7? wtf. "Only Yesterday" I was at the top of the charts. At least the gays keep me in the top ten. yay…
Re: Obsession – YES!! OUR BELOVED KAREN C. HAS MADE THE LIST!!!
WHAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND IS WHY PEREZ IS PLUGGING THE MADONNA TOUR, WHEN THIS IS ABOUT ALBUMS…NOT TOURS.
Re: Obsession – thanks.
Re: karencarpenter – CONGRATULATIONS, bitch!!! xoxo
Whoever picked these albums should be shot. David Bowie is number 1? I have never in my life owned a Bowie CD. The Smiths? Patti Smith? Nope. These aren't gay albums, these are Woodstock albums: granola.
wow, I'm actually amazed Kylie isn't on your list! She's the gay icon in Europe, and her music is sooooo pop….
hell yes Sarah McLachlan!!!!!!!!
KAREN CARPENTER YOU MADE THE LIST, GIRL! Take a bow
Why isn't the Jonas bros album on that list!!!
Nothing from Erasure or The Commutards. Greatest hits albums should not be included
Re: D-Bag – Sorry you were never introduced to good music. You should check back on the history of these artists and see how gay gay can be. Far from from Granola and heavy on the gay
Andy27 just got back from raping 27 little boys
Tori Amos' Little Earthquakes has always been one of my favorite albums. It helped through my awkward teen years and I still listen to it to this day. Go Tori
Madonna at number ONE…OOOOH SNAP!
Love your list.
Even better that you have some Carpenters there. I agree with you on that. Karen´s voice gives me chills to this date.
=]
David Guetta's album should be on the list.
Our own karencarpenter is in the top 10! You're "on the top of the world" and you've "only just begun." Congrats!!!
Tori Amos did the same thing for me many many years ago. Little Earthquakes made me see music differently.
haa…great choices! My husband calls me a lesbian too…and i've to 3 lillith fairs too!!!

I agree that Fumbling Towards Escstasy and Little Earthquakes are PHENOMENAL!!!! I discovered both albums in college when I was "finding myself" (I know that sounds cheesy). Even now I get goosebumps when I listen to them.
No Barry Manilow? Mandy, Weekend in New England, Could It Be Magic, Even Now, Looks Like We Made It…I could go on. I cry like a little baby when I listen to his music.
I carefully scrolled down your list in anticipation to see what you would have as number 1. i knew it would be Madonna, but which album? Like a Virgin? Erotica? Confessions…? I completely forgot about the ultimate greatest Hits that is The Immaculate Collection. It is perfection. But just one question Perez… where is Kylie on your list?
great list, but Perez, I have to say that Under the Pink is better than Little Earthquakes

WOAH SHES A REALLY BUFF OLD LADY! hahaha.
id hate to start a fight with her.
Don't insult Tori Amos by saying Regina Spektor is the new goddess.
~ Madonna, the Queen….I absolutely agree!
The very first CD I ever bought was the Immaculate Collection…..
Holiday, Celebration, Come Together in Every Nation…..
Wow. Y'no, growing up, people always said I had gay CDs. Now I know. Knowing is half the battle I hear. *shrug* that damn blue polka-dotted cd by Mads is by far the best. And I've been screaming for years that little earthquakes is totally Tori's best by far! Hand me my leather!
Wow, no Babs?! Or Supremes?
I love this list.
Hedwig is my favorite.
MIKA is the best !!!!!!!! c'est le meilleur
