Tori Amos is coming out with a new DVD that documents some of her very first professionally recorded live performances ever, from way back in 1991 and 1992.
The DVD documents the piano prodigy's two concerts at the Montreux music festival.
The first, from July 1991, was filmed a few months before the release of her breathtaking debut album, Little Earthquakes, and the second from July 1992 followed a few months after.
There is a fascinating progression from one year to the next as she grows in confidence and skill as a live performer, buoyed by the critical and commercial success of the album.

Fantastic! Tori is one of the sweetest, kindest, all around wonderful people I've ever met. I've been a fan from the beginning and I love how she keeps true to herself.
To the person that compared her to a 3rd rate Kate Bush wannabe….please. She may have been influenced by Kate, but if you've ever really sat down and listened to both of them, its clear that they are each very much doing their own thing. Everybody is influenced by somebody…stop being such a hater.

What a difference a year makes! In the first clip, a few months before the release, she really goes through the emotions of the song, so beautiful… in the clip a few months after her album release, she has already begun her slightly irritating tendency to manipulate the pacing of her song– which she continued to do more and more so for the rest of her career live through now. I still love her, but its as thought she became more impressed by toying with her audience than really connecting honestly. I love Tori and have been criticized for this viewpoint before, but play the first one all the way through and then the second… to me, no comparison.

Thank the Heavens Above!!. I have never had the pleasure of seeing Tori Live, I live in BFE West Virginia, and this period has not been documented on DVD. I almost miss this period in her career, When its fresh and your on fire. I hope they will go on to show the Pink and especially Pele eras. I am jumping up and down this got me so excited. Thanks for posting.
Re: KatieGhurl – Oh god , I love well let me say Like Kate Bush and I have to say AS A MUSICIAN, they are both very talented but to be honest the level of Tori's work on a compositional as well as lyrical basis is far more engaging and powerful and endearing. Hounds of love is a great piece of work, but if I had to range the consistency of both, Tori wins hands down. Kate has written so very beautiful songs . But Tori has a emotive quality that she can not touch with a ten foot pole
You all do realize Tori Amos is a genius. L-O-V-E her writing, her piano talent, her vocal talent, her philosophy, everything.

I'm been feeling really down for the past few months and I think I know now how to fix it: Get all my old Tori CDs and pack them in the car and drive around on this beautiful sunny day and let the cure come.
When is she touring again? I can't find tour info on her new site b/c of the comic book release dramz.
