AHHHHH i'm so jealous that you're going to new york! i just came back from vacation from there and i saw all the musicals you mentioned, except the last one (i'm worried i'll spell it wrong)…and out of the ones you mentioned, i loved mary poppins the best! spring awakening is kind of bad (i really don't like things that are trying to be artistic and just come off as pretentious) but the music is beauitul. xandu is funny, especially if you've seen the movie.
i also suggest seeing (if you haven't already) hairspray! wicked (i'm sure you've seen that, though), avenue q, and the little mermaid…i don't care WHAT the reviews said, i LOVED it. i also saw legally blonde and title of show….which was very funny, but very small scale if you don't like those kinds of musicals. i did, though.
