Uh oh!
Rose McGowan has been in Toronto promoting her new film, Fifty Dead Men Walking, an adaptation of IRA informer Martin McGartland's autobiography.
In a new interview, the fiery actress told reporters that she would have joined the extremist Irish group, the IRA, if she had lived in Belfast during the 'Troubles'. She also went on to say that her "heart just broke for the cause".
Boy, oh boy, has she caused a stir across the Pond!
A spokesperson who works with an organization that help victims of the IRA says, "She may as well add that she would have joined al-Qaeda and flew those planes into the twin towers had she been born a disgruntled Muslim."
Peace and love, y'all. Peace and love.

That situation goes both ways, she's not wrong for saying that! Dont like her hair tho
She should go black blue or blackish red
Just sit back, shut up, and look pretty.
All I know is that this girl has a sensational ass….. shes fucking hot.. so who cares what she has to say… nobody should give a shit about that… The importatnt thing is her amazing ass and tits… sweeet..
Wow… she really stepped in it. lol.
……..um, wasn't she married or at least engaged to marilyn manson? that'd explain ALOT!
OH C'MON!!! She obviously is making a reference to nature vs. nurture, ie. when one is born there… how can they believe otherwise?
Give Rose a break Perez, she's a very entertaining actress.
england can kiss my ass….how many years did it take to get the english army out of northern ireland…finally a prime minister who gets it. thanx mr. brown.
STALKER? STALKER? Where are you? Come, make me be scared and tingly in your bad boy way
there is a Youtube video of her talking about why she's voting for MCCAIN. she sucks!
stupid fucking bitch.
Re: kickyourass666 – stupidity has no limits in america.
it's fucking tragic.
Hey Rose! Awesome dress……BAD political views.
This is so stupid!! that girl needs to get her facts straight, the IRA caused nothing but trouble!! They were evil disgusting people!! No american will understand the damage they did!! I used to like her but now she can go to hell for what she said!! As part of a southern irish family i can just say you evil person you must be extremly stupid to even conder feeling sympathy for those foul people!!
Stupid ass bitch. IRA are terrorists, the man who works with victims of the IRA attacks makes a damn solid point. And to the moron who said the English army is out of Northern Ireland are you stupid? N. Ireland is a part of Britain it's not the English army it's the British army!
seperated at birth? her and hilary duff?
ireadtheblog4thecomments, get a fucking history book.
Her dress in that picture is fabulous, despite the idiotic comments she made!
two very different wars…….can't be compared.
Back in the early 1900's being a member of the IRA was something to be proud of - my Grandfather was a member, but by the late 1900's it was a group that brought shame to those who were members & were members to fight injustice - they were not terrorists like they are now & were during Martin McGartland's time. Have to wonder what era of the IRA McGowan sympathizes with ….
I think before people comment on what she says, they should research the IRA and Ireland. To outright say the IRA should be compared to Al-Qaeda is bullshit. Look at what hand the British had in it. There are no guys in white hats in this story.
Can't believe she said that…the comparison to Al-Qaeda is totally justified, they were glorified terrorists. Although, sad to say, I know a lot of people who support the IRA, which really irritates me as a Protestant living in a Catholic area. Thank God people are more accepting these days.
BTW, Firefox is the way to go if you want to post here. IE wouldn't work 4me.
.
Maybe that's why the comments are fewer now.
.
.
Did anyone else think she was Hillary Duff???? =/
good For her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the english invaded are you for getting that gezz people
Who is she wearing? Is that Prada? My god, it's gorgeous.
she looks like hilary duff there
Is that a dress or a bed spread from the movie desperately seeking susan?
OMG I can't believe how many people hink that dress is gorgous! LOL! Tragic! Maybe thats high fashion in Omaha but in my opinion that dress is a Dead on arrival train wreck okay!
i think she looks like LILY ALLEN here
Re: kickyourass666 – #10
Amen. And I don't ever pray unless I'm cramping horribly and afraid of death by gastrointestinal implosion but amen, lol
Oh, hun. Supporting the cause and supporting the IRA, two different ball games. The IRA willfully killed hundreds of people. Your heart "can just break for the cause" but that doesn't mean you should advocate an extremist group. I believe that Tony Blair was an idiot going into Iraq, but I also believe that the 7/7 bomber were murdering bastards, never mind if they called for the removal of troops. Get a clue!
The Mrs: "The Troubles" refers specifically to the 1960s onwards, when the IRA had definitely changed!
yeah, "toublemaker" … toublemaker…
She talks like a sausage! You are an American dumb ass!!
She looks great with red hair!
You mean she looks like Lindsay Lohan Hahaha
Re: M3chick – she's always had red hair
she's getting her acting mixed up with her real life… I wonder if she really thought she was a witch on Charmed!!!
I'm on her side.
Yea the IRA did kill people and use guerrilla tactics.
But thats all anyone ever focuses on.
No one focuses on how for hundreds of years the english were on the irish island inflicting oppression on the irish people and how that heightened during the irish revolution of the 1920s and during the troubles.
Maybe that spokesperson should review her history and remember that on bloody sunday in 1972 that it was the english troops in northern ireland that started the horrific murders of that day and the irish catholics being harmfully targeted were just fighting back the english. even though they were defending themselves against the english attackers, the catholics and IRA got blamed for bloody sunday.
the point is the troubles are a two way street.
rose has every right to express how she feels just as there are people who would express that they would have been one of the enlgish killing the irish catholics in northern ireland.
its unfair how one sided this issue is.
some may say this isnt a site that i should be talking about stuff like this on but its something i really care about and i would have said the same thing as rose. infact, i have.
It isn't wrong to identify with the IRA during the troubles. LATER the IRA was bad. Look at the history. England was TERRIBLE to Ireland. They pretty much caused the famine. There was plenty of food in Ireland during the famine. The poor just couldn't afford it as the English stole their land. MILLIONS died. Look up the atrocities of the black and tans. Both side were equally bloody. I would have joined the IRA during the troubles. It was a bloody war on both sides.
The major difference between the IRA and Al Queda, is that the IRA was fighting for their own right to exist on their own land. Al Queda, on the other hand was using terror to further their extremist ideals upon the U.S. and Western culture in general. One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.
I am with jupiter girl about how there are both sides of the situation here but I am going to take it a bit further~ In the beginning they were protecting that little thing we call rights.
Again two sides but I don't think what she said is that big of a deal.
Hey geniuses look it up.
Well, if the UK is offended, their ancestors should have thought long and hard before they stole part of someone else's country and CONTINUED to harass them for centuries later. People can only take so much. And just so you have some idea what she is talking about, the "orangemen" in Belfast STILL have over 100 parades a year where they march through the streets of Catholic neighborhoods celebrating how they took the homes and land away from these people. Ian Paisley himself was known to go right up to the windows of Catholic homes and make faces at the people inside. If you think her comments are off-base YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!! I hate to spread the rage, because the Irish Catholics (saints) have gone to great lengths to burry the hatchet for the good of all — Israel could take a lesson from them.
Re: getlostdancing – I felt bad speaking up here, too, because the only way of stopping this legacy of hate and war is to stop talking about it. In that vein I should say that a lot of Irish Catholics feel what Rose said and just don't speak it.
ughhhhh… this bitch doesn't know what she is talking about. she needs to shut her trap and just TRY to act.
I study Irish history. The brits have treated the Irish like total shit for over 800 years. The IRA was originally founded by Michael Collins, a true Irish patriot who spoke fluent Gaelic. Collins went on to secure the Irish Free state which is known as The Republic today. Granted the IRA did go too far later on in their existence with their theories on expanding collateral damage in order to achieve their goals and there were so many factions and splinter groups that eventually the IRA leadership could not possibly keep control over what these different factions were doing. We kicked the brits out of colonial america so I hardly think anyone should judge the Irish too harshly for wanting to do the same in their country especially in light of the savage treatment the Irish have suffered because of draconian british policies.
