      What a heartbreaking story. I'm familiar with his big hit, "Thank You" — a man used to sing it pretty frequently at our church — but how absolutely depressing, and a little insane, that concealing his identity drove him to the brink of suicide.

      Now that he's out and talking about it, he's going to get SO much backlash from the insular, rather petty Christian community. Thank God there are Christians who have already reached out to him. I also think it's pretty cool that Boltz's wife joined a gay Christian advocacy group. I wish him all the best.

      This is so refreshing. I'm glad that people can come out even though it goes against their religion. I am sure there a lot of closeted individuals who cannot come out because of their faith, yet they are still devoted to the religion. Good for this guy.

      God loves all people. Hell fire and brimstone radicals who point their fingers at others screaming they will go to hell need to look at their own lives. I am a christian and know what the bible says about homosexuality but it also has MANY other things listed in there as no-no's that almost every man, woman AND christian have disobeyed. When Billy Graham was asked what he would do if one of his sons were gay and his answer was "I'd love him even more" People need to answer to God and God alone.

      So, I guess you'd rather leave out the whole "Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone" thing, huh? Jesus sums up all God's laws into the two great commandments. One, love God. Two, love each other. That's it. Should be simple, yet somehow we still seem to screw it up by trying to tell others how to live their lives. It is between them and God…that's it. Just love God, love others, take care of your own walk with God…and that should keep you busy enough to not condemn others.

      Double Wow! On the one hand I'm so happy for him. And he's kinda hawt. On the other hand, I had to hear that "Thank You" song for so many offertories and special requests for money at church events in the early 90s (the first line of the chorus for those who don't know it is "Thank you for giving to the Lord") that I wanted to barf and it was my least favorite song ever from then up until the release of "Rollin'" by Limp Bizkit (which has recently been replaced by "All Summer Long" by Kid Rock)

      I have to say I may be the only one who is sad by reading this. I loved his music. I mean I grew up listening to it. You know what. Its not that Christian are so jugemental its that we want people to practice what they preach. Yes I believe Jesus loves us all but a lier is still a lier. Gay or not. That is what it is to me.       In a perfect world being a Christian would mean loving everyone regardless of sexual orientation, race, looks, or whatever. It should be whats in your heart what counts.       In order to fulfill the definition of "Christian" - you would have to adhere to the word of CHRIST to be defined as a CHRISTian. Homosexuality opposes the word of Christ - therefore, he cannot be defined as a "CHRISTian Singer", but rather, he is a homosexual singer of Christian songs.

      I think that this is such a sad story. I can only think of how this destroyed his marriage and hurt his children. Not to mention that this has destroyed his career in the Christian music community.

      Number of those passages which are found in the New Testament: 2
      Number of things JESUS said about homosexuality: 0
      Unless your Christ is someone other than Jesus, this has nothing to do with the "Word of Christ"

      By the way, as far as gaydar goes…of all the Christian singers I've heard and seen in my life–many of whom I would wonder about…Ray Boltz never pinged for me…I never would have picked him out in a lineup and think he 'passed' pretty well all those years, which is just to say that you never can tell what another person is going through
