Ike Forces Barack to Cancel on SNL

The Obama campaign issued the following statement on Friday:
“In light of the unfolding crisis in Texas, Sen. Obama has decided it is no longer appropriate to appear on Saturday Night Live tomorrow evening.”
Hurrican Ike is the worst storm to have hit Texas in 50 years, according to reports.
So sad.

Just giving you guys some information. I admire and appreciate Mccain's service to our county, but he is a celebrity himself. He has appeared twice on SNL on some really dumb scits, he also appeared in a move (Wedding Crashers) and you guys forget that he wrote a book & had a movie made about himself and his experience as a POW. There is nothing wrong with that, I read his book and watched the movie, but before you suggest that Obama is Hollywood, you need to remember that Mccain is the only Presidential canidiate this year who had a movie made about him and made a cameo appearance in a Hollywood Film. Obama hasn't. OBAMA/BIDEN 08!

update from houston. we are in northeast houston. lots of trees down on houses, little flooding, more problems from the wind. its not looking too good, power out for up to 3 weeks, probably at least a couple of days everywhere.

hey guys, i am from houston texas i evacuated to austin texas with my 12 month old son and his father. i understand why obama has removed himself from SNL at such a serious time. Right now the Texas coast needs as much attention as possible.
Galveston Texas, Surfside Texas, Freeport Texas, and various other surrounding areas has taken a lot of damage from this storm. Surfside was basically washed away. i have family who have a beach house in Freeport and at 5 pm yesterday it was reported to them that they had 6 feet of water under their house. Today it was reported that their roof is gone and the walls are buckling in as we speak.
Houston was hit with a lot of wind so theres a lot of damage to the downtown area. Skyscrapers that have not one window left in tact. i dread returning home because of whats there for me to say, thankfully my home was not damaged but unfortunately some of my neighbors were not as fortunate.
just keep all of us in your thoughts and prayers because we're gonna need it. my heart goes out to everyone on the texas coast right now.
we havent had a storm like this since Alicia in 1983 and we just marked the 25th anniversary, now Tropical Storm Allison was in 2001 and flooded the entire city of Houston, but this was much much different. they told people to stay put to avoid what happened 3 years ago when Hurricane Rita was suppose to hit Houston but went up into the Texas and Louisiana state line.
now im just rambling, i feel so somber right now… but we will build it back and mother nature will take it again.. its the cycle of life and comes along with living on the coast. We are the GREAT STATE OF TEXAS, we will over come this in due time!
thanks for all of the kind words that ive read thus far, its nice to know that the rest of the country is paying attention just as we do each time any other state has horrible natural disasters take place.
