Quote Of The Day

| Filed under: Quote of the DayPolitikKid Rock

kidrock07-280x210.jpg

"I truly believe that people like myself, who are in a position of entertainers in the limelight, should keep their mouth shut on politics. Because at the end of the day, let me tell you what I 'm good at: I'm good at writing songs and singing. What I'm not educated in is the field of political science. And so for me to be sharing my views and influencing people of who I think they should be voting for … I think would be very irresponsible on my part. So I'll just keep my mouth shut on that. I think celebrity endorsements hurt politicians. Because as soon as somebody comes out for a politician, especially in Hollywood, when they all go, 'I'm voting for this guy!' — I go, 'That's not who I'm voting for!' … As soon as Oprah Winfrey pops up and goes 'Ha-la-la-la-la,' I'm like, 'I love Barrack Obama. I hate Oprah Winfrey.' I don't hate her. I just don't believe in her, so I don't want any part of any of that. I think celebrities hurt politicians."

I lovvve the kid! Talented + brainy! Hope some of the the other dimwit celebs heed his great advice.
    xoxo, Isa

  2. 2

I agree. Celebrity-Politician endorsements are very harmful. These people spending 500 dollars on a pair of jeans do not represent the regular Joes of America. They should stick to singing and acting and their bell-air homes

  3. 3

    amen!!
I believe all celebrites are like sheep…
We need a few good people that dont want to follow what the next Tom, Dick or Harry is doing.

  4. 4

Probably the most intelligent thing that has come from the mouth of Kid Rock.

With the exception of "Start an escort service, for ll the RIGHT REASONS!"

  5. 5

well freaking finally! someone who makes some sense. i have never thought a lot about kid rock but now i really like him. and i know he's a republican!!

  6. 6

    I agree 100%!

  7. 7

    So true!!

  8. 8

I couldn't agree more!!! I think Rusell Brand, Oprah, and all these other dumb celebrities should stop using their status to influence people on subjects they know nothing about!!!

  9. 9

Good for you, Kid Rock. You've got more class than your ex.

  10. 10

And we all know who he's voting for

  11. kmp says – reply to this

    11

I'm sure Gore and Kerry agree as well!

  12. 12

    you know everyone is saying

who would have thunk kid rock is smarter than all of the celebrities in hollywood

bless u 4 being so smart sensical

    xxoo chris in mn

  13. 13

    AMEN, BROTHER!
i was never really into kid rock, but he just won himself a new fan.

  14. 14

That is the most intelligent thing i've ever heard a celebrity say! Good job Kid!

  15. 15

Wait…a celebrity slagging off celebrities for voicing their political opinions? They're taking a stand which is more than he's doing. As far as writing good songs and singing well…if his performance of someone else's hit at MTV's award show was any indication of his talents, he's a loser on all sides. Well, whatever grabs the headlines, I guess. Pathetic fuck.

  16. 16

THE SINGLE MOST INTELLEGENT THING SAID SO FAR IN THIS ELECTION!

  17. 17

YES!!!!!! Finally a celebriity I can agree with. Well Said Kid!!!

  18. 18

What a smart guy; he's quite under-rated on his talent AND his logic.

  19. 19

Re: BeNiceYall – …but mcCain who owns more houses than he can cite IS qualified to represent us average Joe's…?

  20. Rynne says – reply to this

    20

I think he's right on that actually. The Democrats have proven that time and again. When they should have won they lost and a lot of their cred was wasted when the Republicans made fun of them for being the party of entertainers and celebrities.

  21. 21

Smartest thing that's ever come out of his mouth.

    kudos

  22. 22

    i agree 100%

  23. 23

Kid Rock and class don't belong in the same sentence.

  24. 24

I agree. I used to like Oprah until she refused to have Hillary Clinton on her show because she was endorsing Obama.

  25. 25

finally !! a celebrity who is making a bit of sense and not jumping on the political bandwagon when they have no clue as to what each candidate stands for…oprah matt damon etc.. and all the other celebrity morons should take heed and keep there ignorant mouths shut..so of hearing them bash the candidates.

  26. Subec says – reply to this

    26

    Shut your face!

  27. 27

crap had a brian fart there and messed up typing my last line…it should read that i'm so sick of hearing them bash the candidates..

  28. 28

I agree 100% - you should get a clue, Perez. It's so obvious how biased you are on here…

  29. 29

That's the most intelligent thing I've heard a celebrity say about politics!

  30. 30

What a crock of shit! So that means anyone who has not studied political science should not voice their opinion or vote for that matter. Don't go on Perez then I mean here you are talking about politics on a celebrity fucking website. That's what I mean about fucking Republicans! You are such hypocrites!!!! If you decide to vote against a candidate solely because Oprah endorses them, that says more about you then anything. You are playing games with the life of many because of spite, assholes!

  31. 31

    AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look celebrities have the right to their own opinion. But the thing is…they are in a career that their fan base is a pool of different religions, race, beliefs, etc. As entertainers they make their living/career off of us. Therefor, if they take a stance on an issue, then they are taking the chance of alienating their other fans. I have always said they shouldn't really talk in the spotlight about religion, abortion, politics. When they do they make half a side happy, and tik the other side off. Hence, taking the chance of losing fans. I AGREE KID! VERY intelligent! AMEN! I mean in the end, it's not like Oprah is going to change my mind about what I believe in, or Elizabeth Hasselbeck(sp). They are people just like us, and if ANYONE changes their vote and opinion on a stars opinion, then you shouldn't have the right to vote.

  32. 32

he is absolutely correct. To all celebrities: the less you say, the smarter you sound.

  33. Gen says – reply to this

    33

Dear Kid Rock: Do AMerica a HUGE favor and don't vote. Stay home on election day.

  34. 34

    I agree with him 100%!

  35. 35

Totally agree with Kid..There are so many simple people out there who don't want to think for themselves and just do whatever their favorite celebs tell them to..It's irresponsible and dangerous for these celebs to use their status to garner votes for THEIR choice of politician..I'm all for bringing issues to light, but people need to do their own research and come to their own conclusions when it comes to who they want to lead this nation..By the way, he never said he'd be voting Republican..he said he liked Obama, but that he doesn't like Oprah so it makes him not want to support Obama..

  36. 36

So in order to have an opinion every American citizen should have a political science degree?

And actually, he's not a good songwriter or singer either. Maybe he should just shut up…that's the only thing that he's good at that he mentioned.

    What a douchenozzle.

  37. 37

You've got to admire the guy for being honest. He is absolutely right.

  38. 38

Re: PixTweak – How ridiculous is your statement against Republicans?? If anything, it's both sides who have people making choices based on the dislike of a celeb endorsing them or just for stupid reasons..I've heard people saying they'll vote for Obama..Not because they agree with anything he stands for, but just to ensure another Republican doesn't get into office..THAT'S a scary thing! Do your research people and vote for the INDIVIDUAL..NOT THE PARTY! Ugh..I hate politics..

  39. 39

BUT, since there is the contingent out there who are a bunch of Automatons who will do what their fave celebrities tell them to do, GODDAMN IT GET OUT THERE AND FUCKING ENDORSE BARACK OBAMA BEFORE MCCAIN AND PAIL DRIVE US BACK ANOTHER 100 YEARS AND MAKE SLAVERY LEGAL AGAIN AND OPPRESS WOMEN BACK TO CHAMBER MAIDS AND A COMPUTER CHIP IN EVERY VAGINA BECAUSE YOU OBVIOUSLY DON'T DESERVE TO LIVE YOUR OWN LIFE AS WE CAN LIVE IT BETTER FOR YOU!! HOMOSEXUALS WILL BE HUNTED DOWN AND SHOT FOR SPORT. AMERICAN SOLDIERS WILL BE SENT TO THE MEAT GRINDER OF WARS BASED ON LIES UNDER THE ASSUMPTION WE ARE LOOKING FOR TERRORISTS IN THE MOST RICH OIL LANDS IN THE WORLD WHILE THE REAL HUMAN ATROCITIES THAT NEED LIBERATED WILL CONTINUE TO SUFFER AS THEY HAVE NOTHING TO OFFER US!! FUCK PEOPLE DON'T YOU GET IT??? BARACK SHOULD BE UP BY 100 PERCENTAGE POINTS, BUT THIS NATION SI S FULL OF FUCKING IDIOTS WHO REFUSE TO THINK FOR THEMSELVES! FUCKING GO KILL YOURSELVES ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALL IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  40. 40

OH WHATEVERRRR! STFU Kid Rock. I'm sure he's a republican anyway. Celebs got a right just like anyone else to show their support for their candidate. If you're going change your vote just because of what Oprah says then you're dense and stupid.

  41. 41

I love how he says " I don't hate Oprah, I just don't believe in her. " Wtf? She's not Santa Claus. He's an idiot, people have a right to their a opinion and if someone changes their opinion because of their favorite celebrity, shouldn't be voting in the first place

  42. 42

Right on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nobody cares what celebs political views are!

  43. 43

    BRILLIANT!!!
What a week for Kid Rock - he was great on the 'Fashion Rocks' show and 100% correct here. If Obama is not elected it will blamed directly on Hollywood. Middle America HATES the fuckin Hollywood establishment telling them what to think -but Hollywood just can't help itself. Average americans are going to say 'fuck you' and vote for McCain.
This happens every 4 years - but Hollywood never learns!

  44. 44

Hell yeah, finally a celebrity that knows better.

  45. 45

Also, this guy appeals to Rednecks who, typically vote Republican. His career is on the dumps so this comment my get some business. Come on, we live in the same country even if we are forced to pick parties. This is ridiculous, it's about the best possible candidate and out of the 2 Obama is the one!

  46. Reg says – reply to this

    46

Couldn't agree more - he spoke a lot of sense.

  47. 47

So true! Keep on running your mouth you idiot celebrities, your only hurting the candidate you want to win!!

  48. 48

Re: poobanut – Do me a favor and take your own advice! You've lived in this country for the past 8 years, right? How's it been going for ya? Obama is clearly the best candidate and it is you who's picking solely on loyalty to your Party.

  49. 49

    EXACTLY!
celebrities should just keep their friggin "opinions" to themselves they rarely ever help. and they make the politician look bad that such a numb skull is voting for them.

  50. 50

Re: OPRESOR – After you, dude! In the name of Christ, your Lord!

  51. 51

wow.. cant stand him but it seems to me he has A LOT more brains than friggin' oprah and her sheep.

  52. 52

way to report on a story thats about 3 weeks old.

  53. 53

    Amen. And Oprah is racist.

  54. 54

it's too bad he actually does suck at writing songs and singing

  55. Laura says – reply to this

    55

    He is an idiot.

Whatever your career is, you have a voice and if you like to use it, in whichever you like to use it, you have that right.

And so does Kid Rock, but he is still an idiot.

  56. 56

Re: Penelope Palin – funny that Kerry's wife's fortune which dwarf's Cindy McCain's was never an issue in 2004………….oh, and his military record was the cornerstone of his campaign…….self righteous hypocrites…all of you

  57. Laura says – reply to this

    57

oh, and celebrities bring $$$ to a political campaign.

p.s. Kid Rock is white trash from Detroit but he thinks he's a southern country boy.

  58. 58

For the most part I agree. I can tolerate politics from celebrities if they want to state facts and details (I'm looking at you, Matt Damon). If you're scared, tell us why.

If Obama is allowed to tax corporations like he wants to, the only people working in the US will be Perez and the celebrities, cause the real jobs will go overseas.

  59. 59

Re: mamajud – And 2004 would have …what to do with this election? As to your little dig that "all of you" are hypocrites…thanks. That's the sort of fair-minded, mature approached I've come to expect from "many of you" Republicans. Obama, Miss Thing.

  60. 60

Re: Penelope Palin – #15 are you saying that talking shit in soundbites is doing something? KidRock has been to Iraq and Afghanistan entertaining the troops multiple times……..we call that walking the walk.
    .
.as for him stealing music….it's called mixing, and he's on tour w/Lynard Skynard….you know, the band that wrote the rif.

  61. 61

Re: Penelope PalinRe: Penelope Palin – okay…..some of you…….and it has everything to do with this election when these "issues" are used to try to minimize McCain's credibility…..it's practically the definition of hypocracy

  62. 62

Look, Kid Rock, just because you are an IDIOT does not mean all celebrities or artists are idiots. Some actually do know and follow politics. If they're passionate about a candidate to the point where they do not care if they lose fans or money then why not voice their opinion. If anything, it hurts the celebrity not the politician. Case in Point, I used to like that Gretchen woman, Redneck woman song singer until I saw her singing at the RNC…now, I'm removing that song from my Ipod…see it hurts celebrities, not politicians…lol… Any human being who can still respect Republicans after their choice of Palin is not a friend of mine.

  63. 63

i thought kid rock was stupid. BUT WHAT HE SAID WAS BRILLIANT! thank you thank you thanky you kid rock! not only for your wonderful song all summer long, but for your wise insights on the world of politics.
i never ever thought i would say that

  64. 64

A lot of you seem to agree but don't have a reason why.

Bottom line is you shouldn't let other people's opinions speak for you… you should make decisions based on your own beliefs and knowledge.

It has nothing to do with celebrity. If a non-celebrity were to endorse and you'd follow that just because they're and "average joe" you're a fool. You need to make your own decisions.

  65. 65

The funniest part of this entire quote is that he says he is "good at writing songs & singing" AHAHAHAHA

Yeah celebs who aren't educated should not endorse politicans, but those who are, more power to you.

  66. 66

he is so right. fianally someone in hollywood shows they have a brain

  67. 67

totally agree! thank you kid rock!

  68. 68

I love Kid Rock and I agree with his viewpoint and decision to keep to himself. More people should think like he does!

  69. 69

Sorry, Kid……celebrity endorsements DO help the politician. Which is scary, cause there's a lot of dim people out there who actually listen to it……

  70. 70

Always dug Kid Rock. Great comment!!! Are those Lords leather pants you're wearing?
Hope so, that would make even more hot. Nice spread in LA Times last week. With the exception of that "wonderful" gold necklace you wore at he VMA's you have great style.

  71. 71

"what I 'm good at: I'm good at writing songs and singing"

    yeah RIGHT.

  72. 72

He is so washed up, he should just keep his mouth shut period. Nobody cares about what kid rock has to say. Celebs have a right to their opinion just like anyone else, and if they want to voice it, more power to em. Kid's just jelous no one cares about what he has to say.

  73. 73

Re: mamajud – Mama, please don't talk about a celeb walking-the-walk to someone at Ft Hood, home of multiple-deployments! Our collective butts are on the line while he's wallowing in silicone and, yes, someone else's hit songs…maybe he's on tour with LS because he just can't fill a concert hall by himself

  74. 74

I agree completely…I don't want a bunch of "idiots" that most did not even finish hogh school to be telling me who should I vote for…they should stick to what they do and THAT'S IT…

  75. 75

    Re: jthrasher
uhh no he's not saying that. he's saying that since celebrities seem to have such a great influence over the general public, we shouldn't regard their political opinions as like another "trend" to follow blindly.

  76. 76

[re=2874719]Re: Penelope Palin point taken…..i admire the strength it must take day to day, and hope your loved one comes home safe……..when i said walk the walk….i was comparing him to other celebrities yapping on the red carpet, not to people like you and your family living on the front lines.
    .
.p.s. you have to admit, it's a kitchy tune…no?…..I can admit i like Pink's music

  77. 77

DAMN STRAIGHT KID !!! You should slap the other celebs in the face–I dont think they realize how many Americans ARE educated and know what they're talking about when it comes to the issues—and Id prefer to come to this site and see Celeb Gossip and Celebs trying to sway my vote (which would never happen) VIRGINIA LOVES MCCAIN!!!!!!

  78. 78

wow kidrock! you have completely earned my respect. I'm so tired of celebs telling me who to vote for. They just say offensive and ridiculous things about candidates. So do you Perez no offense but I don't really care to hear who you vote for either. I think you should take a cue from Kidrock. I'm no fan of his music but I respect him for saying this. I really believe celebs should keep quiet on these issues.

  79. 79

I completely agree with Kid Rock here. Finally an educated celebrity. Stars really do hurt politicians when they publicly support them. I don't know why, but it turns people away.

  80. 80

100% agree. because i can guarantee u that 98% of the celebrities endorsing any candidate is because others do it because its the thing of the moment just like trucker hats were or kabbala.. ask any celebrity wat the platform of the candidate they are endorsing is and they wont know it….and i think they ruin politics because u have ppl like paris hilton who endorse a candidate and lets face it the girl is DUMB and if i were i politician i would be embarrassed to be endorsed by her or any other celebrity that is that…..wellll…..stupid

  81. 81

Re: PixTweak – his career is in the dumps? he released a cd almost a year ago that's still in the top 5. so much you know.

  82. 82

whatever. he likes to pretend he is trash. bet many didnt know he was raised middle class. i believe the term for a guy like this is "poser"

fucking take a bath kid cock and don't forget how you were raised.

  83. OSSIM says – reply to this

    83

    That's right Kid Rock…
    Now tell Lezlo and Saman…
Those dumb shits talk too much.

  84. 84

I never thought I'd say this but I completely agree with Kid Rock!!!

  85. 85

I think that people need to start having a mind of their own and don't vote for someone just because a celebrity tells you to. I also believe that getting people to vote needs to be a big deal you (by you i mean the celebrities) should promote your ideas about how important it is to listen to the candidates and to vote. It's people like Robert Ritchie, AKA Kid Rock, that dumb down america by making those comments and not realizing that just because you don't "believe" in someone (like Oprah) doesn't mean that you won't vote for the same candidate. It's all about how individuals feel about the candidates… it's the celebrities that help people see that this election is super important.

  86. 86

Thank you Kid Rick! Finally a celeb does something right!

  87. 87

GOD I love him! He's hot and sexy in a dirty way, lol And he's RIGHT!

  88. 88

Re: mamajud – LOL…agreed, Mama, kitsch has a certain appeal that I'm not immune too either!

  89. 89

    What a chode

  90. 90

I LOOOOVVVVEEEEEE HIM! Why can't others follow his lead???? He's talented, hot and obviously smart!

  91. 91

I agree!!!When most celebrities endorse the same candidate I think the other guy I would have more in common with I can't relate to Hollywood and what there needs are…Diddy hurting for cash to put gas in is private jet I'm hurting to fill my 2007 ford.

  92. 92

Why even bother to post something about this looser? What was the name of his last hit? Or album for that matter? Kathy wins emmys, Kid Rock talks about non sense. A list, meet Kathy, D list meet Kid Rock.

  93. 93

ahhhhh, the smell of republicans hating……..he might as well had said 'go mcCain' after that "pretend not to have an opinion about politics" speech.everyone has an opinion.i know people get flack for being republic right now, but it's because the obvious pick is democratic nominee obama. the white lady on cnn that shops at walmart said it best..she's not stupid!she not gonna mess up a country's fate just becuase obama is 'unfamiliar'.

  94. 94

if u dont feel u can have an opinion on politics then u should not vote, you will b doing us a favor.

  95. 95

Re: Penelope Palin – i'm glad we could end it on a good note….nice to see civility can prevail….and i'm also glad my kids are way to young to have a clue when we are driving along rockin' out…..singing about u & your hand tonight!!!!!

  96. 96

Re: PixTweak – That's really funny..I never actually said who I'm voting for or why..ut I DO take my own advice, thank you very much..YOU should probably re-read posts before you start talking out of your ass..

  97. 97

I couldn't agree more. It hinders their reputation as well.

  98. 98

I am amazed that people don't realize that celebs are democraps and they are the ones with all the money. WHat is in it for them. They are used to being over payed, spoiled and getting things for free. When they give large donations it is a tax write off.

  99. 99

    omgggg he is so hot
I am not crazy about most celebs, but i swear i would do him at the drop of a dime.

  100. 100

    Re: Penelope Palin
    "Penelope Palin" you're weird, sorry.
