Quote Of The Day

| Filed under: Quote of the DayPolitikKid Rock

kidrock07-280x210.jpg

"I truly believe that people like myself, who are in a position of entertainers in the limelight, should keep their mouth shut on politics. Because at the end of the day, let me tell you what I 'm good at: I'm good at writing songs and singing. What I'm not educated in is the field of political science. And so for me to be sharing my views and influencing people of who I think they should be voting for … I think would be very irresponsible on my part. So I'll just keep my mouth shut on that. I think celebrity endorsements hurt politicians. Because as soon as somebody comes out for a politician, especially in Hollywood, when they all go, 'I'm voting for this guy!' — I go, 'That's not who I'm voting for!' … As soon as Oprah Winfrey pops up and goes 'Ha-la-la-la-la,' I'm like, 'I love Barrack Obama. I hate Oprah Winfrey.' I don't hate her. I just don't believe in her, so I don't want any part of any of that. I think celebrities hurt politicians."

So people cant be knowledgable about music or acting as well as politics? People on perez use this website as a way to tell others how they feel so why should celebrities or anybody else be prohibited to do so as well? I dont know if they neccessarily want to tell others how they feel to persuade them, but as we all know it is hard to keep in feelings and thoughts that we feel strongly about.

  2. 102

Yeah your right KID ROCK…. You should not be allowed to say anything regarding the up coming election. You are and always will be " POOR WHITE TRASH " Right along with Sara Palin and Family

  3. 103

    I totally agree.

  4. 104

Finally someone says it! I agree 100% with him. I mean, if a celebrity was voting for someone it wouldnt make me not vote for the candidate but it would make me look at that person more. Like Matt Damon and Ben Aflek piss me off everytime they open their mouth. These people are telling us to vote for Barack Obama because what, he will help with the global warming. Well sorry the main priority, at least for people living in Michigan, is keeping their job and being able to afford their house that is only worth $100 grand maybe even less. Celebrities arent living in the real world so i could really care less what they have to say.

  5. 105

how stupid….this from a guy who got dumped after a few days or weeks of marriage from another idiot…..Puleaze!!!

  6. 106

I love kid rock! Other celebrities should take notes from him.

  7. 107

I really like this guy… my kind of man!

  8. 108

    Re: provfun@hotmail.com
you must be one of the good, fair, caring people…democrap! right.

  9. 109

Oh and P.S. before someone wants to take a political debate for whos better suited to run the country, I just used Obama as an example.

I always laugh when a celebrity makes political statements. I'm not sure what qualifies them to influence anyone, as most of them are barely able to make an intelligent statement. I appreciate Kid saying what so many of us are thinking about celebrity endorsements. You rock, Kid and I like you even more than I already did. Let's hope some of the "Hollywood Loud Mouths" listen to you!

  11. 111

i actually think he's right on this one, I mean, endorsments from.. celebs? yea.. .. no

  12. huc says – reply to this

    112

Bet you had no idea Kid was so smart!

  13. 113

    One more reason to

    LOVE KID ROCK!!!

He is SPOT ON. Why can't anyone else in Hollywood use their brain. Oh Yeah that's right ……he lives in the real world…Detroit. Kid, do all us average americans a favor and share your wisdom with your famous friends.

    YOU ROCK!

  14. 114

Robert James Ritchie is 100% CORRECT !!!!!!!

  15. 115

Finally a smart celebrity. I knew I liked that guy. I think I'll go and buy more of his music.

  16. 116

smart smart man.. i completely agree.

  17. kjen says – reply to this

    117

    AMEN Kid Rock!

  18. 118

Ahhh Kid Rock…love you! 100% agreed!!! And…your concert in CT was amazinggggg! So talented, and smart ;-)

  19. 119

It's too bad Samantha and Lindsay didn't read Kid Rock's quote before posting their irresponsible political rant on their MySpace blogs!

  20. 120

The most intelligent quote I've ever seen on here..Oh, and just because he's telling celebs they need to shut up, which they do, when it comes to politics, doesn't mean he's voting Republican you idiots..I personally don't like either candidate–unfortunately Obama is simply one big celebrity endorsement who doesn't have the experience it takes to cut it in the White House. I'll be voting 3rd party.

  21. 121

    I agree with him 100%

  22. 122

That's great K.R. You're WAY smarter thank you look. Do you think you can get Sean Penn, Susan Sarandon, Barbara Streisand, and the rest of the celebs to go along with you? We really don't care what they think, but for some incomprehensible reason, they think we do.

  23. Arshe says – reply to this

    123

    Wow Smart

  24. 124

He is only saying that because the majority of the celebs are voting for Obama. And kid rock could not sing or write a decent song if his life depended on it. He sings about being an American soldier in his latest song, chickenhawk needs to sign up and go fight in Iraq!

  25. 125

i couldnt agree more. celebrities endorsing politicians is the most annoying shit ever. like i fucking hate barack obama- thank you oprah.

ps i want to fuck kid rock like im never gonna see him again.

  26. 126

    Hells yeah

  27. 127

Wow! I think I am in love! LOL Kid Rock is my hero.

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

  28. imk says – reply to this

    128

dummies, it was an interview with country music television. It's like interviewing with Fox news.

  29. 129

Yes! Finally a celebrity with intelligence!

  30. 130

im not a fan of his but i think hes absolutely right and im glad a celebrity finally pointed that out. when celebs try to win votes for political figures it comes off as cheap looking. like ' if you like my movies vote for this guy'. if they want to bring attention to social issues then thats one thing, like gay rights, health issues etc, thats fine, but dont do the 'he is the chosen one' crap oprah does. shes acts too spiritually superior and its a huge turn off. Even when the pope does that shit its annoying, so i really dont want oprah acting like she was sent here to wake us up.

  31. 131

I completely agree with this. Alot of younger people or even any kind of fan get influenced by their favorite entertainer (musician, actor, actress, etc.). I think they should keep out of politics because let the people decide who they want. Let them know the people they want to vote for because of their own decision. And plus when entertainers get into politics it seems like things start looking like a show.

  32. Cutie says – reply to this

    132

    amen to my fellow detroiter!

  33. 133

Clap, clap, clap! It's about time. I 100% agree. I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion, yes, but as your choice as a celebrity to be "in the spotlight" it is just that. You are "in the spotlight." Everything you say and do is under the microscope. People are so easily influenced by stars that any drip of opinion is licked up without any independence or self knowledge. Note to celebrities; we love you and all, but watch what you say. People actually tune into your thoughts, not ours.

  34. 134

    HE'S 200% CORRECT!!!

  35. 135

Re: Rynne – funny aside I was listening to the 70's channel on XM radio the other day and they were doing a 1972 count down with Casey Casem, nad in 1972 Barbra Streisand was singing for candidate McGovern LOL!!! it's like these people NEVER learn! we all know how well that went down as well as when she sang for Kerry and Gore recently! and Obama - we'll see!!! LOL! McCain /Palin 2008

  36. 136

Re: Los Anjealous – it's called narciscistic disorder, that's why they think we give a rat's ass what they think

  37. 137

hell yeah, i agree completely thanks kid for being one of the few intelligent celebrities!!

  38. 138

Re: Muy Feo – You say that like it's a bad thing….

  39. plano says – reply to this

    139

You hit the nail on the head, my friend.

  40. 140

    I AGREE kidd HOLLYWOOD STFU!!!!!!

  41. 141

Ah, the mother-fucking early mornin' stoned pimp! So screwable…

  42. 142

    Finally somebody said it…

  43. 143

    Amen!

  44. 144

"let me tell you what I 'm good at: I'm good at writing songs and singing. " HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. HAHAHAHAHAH. HAHAH.

  45. 145

I absolutey agree. I'm proud he's a fellow Michigander :) but sidenote… isn't he kind of supporting Barrack and making a statement about politics by adding in that last thought at the end? Hmmm…

  46. 146

I always thought Kid Rock had a brain — now I KNOW he does. I wish others would take his cue and shut the fuck up. PEREZ??? Oprah?? Damon????

  47. 147

Seems my link won't post. SO how many of you have seen the commercial being shown in the movie theatres of Kid Rock for the National Guard? Seems pretty political to me.

  48. 148

Pen Palin - what's the part you like the best about having hot air blown up your a… you must be a civilian in Killeen or a snotty spouse because I know that someone in our military can't possibly take anything BO says seriously.

The Kid is one smart cookie.

  49. 149

    Talented and SMART!!!

  50. 150

he's just a republican freak who's afraid to say he's voting for McCain. I think everyone should speak up. It's a free f*cking country, get it? People who don't like celebrities speaking up about politics are always republicans….truth is, they don't want anyone speaking up about politics because they aren't so hip on the whole democracy deal anyway, they'd just as soon spit on the constitution, which is essentially what he's doing (though I don't know if I'd listen to much of anything some dildo who actually willingly calls himself "kid-rock".)

  51. 151

WOW!!! The most intelligent thing I've heard from a celebrity and it came from Kid Rock, I would've never thought. But he's soooooooooooo right, CELEBRITIES need to shut their freaking mouths, stick to your day jobs you probably know nothing about politics. Let people make up their own damn minds.

  52. 152

Kid rock, can you get any more white trash than this pig, Isnt he arrested once a month for some felony assault? While I'm glad that this moron chose to say he likes Obama he didnt realize that he was posting his thoughts, his thoughts about oprah other celebs, hes too stupid and white trash to realize hes posting his thoughts too just like the ones hes being critical of.

  53. 153

I LOVE KID ROCK!! Finallly a celebrity that makes sense. Not only are you one of the greatest rockers, but I believe you are the smartest! Keep on rockin!!

  54. 154

He is correct. Who gives a rat's ass what celebrity wants who in the White House??? I'm not so stupid as to want someone do my own thinking- only tards care who Oprah endorses. Like her stupid ass lemmings that care what books she reads or body lotion she uses. Gimme a break. Hollywood needs to STFU and just do their freakin jobs.

  55. 155

    Love him….he is bang on.

  56. 156

Smarter words were never spoken from a celebrity. Smart. I'm kinda shocked that he can think so far into the situation but I'm very impressed with him.

  57. 157

The world according to Kid Rock!

  58. 158

    Amen to that!

  59. 159

Kid Rock, I never liked your music…but you now have my utmost respect for saying to the masses what I've been saying all along in regards to celebrities and politics.

  60. 160

Go shove a d!ck up your nasty @ss Kid Rock!!! you can't even form a sentence that makes sense, who wants your endorsement??? we all know you are just attention wh0re, slutttt!!!!

  61. Sal says – reply to this

    161

    I agree with you 100%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  62. 162

WOW, finally a celebrity that is using his head!!

  63. 163

    Preach it, Kid, preach it!!

  64. 164

How refreshing to see that Kid Rock is not the narcisst that Matt Damon is. Damon's remarks about Pahlin were RUDE!!! I was once a fan but will never see another movie he is in. Kid Rock is a midwestern boy who was raised with some class.

  65. 165

LMAO….Just because YOU aren't educated, or CHOOSE not to be educated about politics is YOUR choice…did you ever think that perhaps some of these outspoken actors or celebrities have minds of their own, and perhaps even EDUCATE themselves on issues KID? I am truely sorry that you are uneducated about politics…however, YOU ARE RETARDED!!! Let's think about this…. you should be uneducated about the politics that will shape and affect YOUR country?!!! That is seriously the lamest fucking thing I have heard today.

  66. 166

Yes. Are you listening Bruce Springsteen and Matt Damon? It hurts you and your candidate. Keep your yappers shut. Use Paul Newman as a role model if you need to. Most of you have this burning desire to let everyone know that yes, you too belong to the COOL GROUP, which would be the Hollywood Liberal Elite.
You can't resist letting your uber-cool peers and the uneducated little people (who might mistakenly vote Republican unless you set them straight) know about it. WE DON'T CARE. Absolutely nauseating.

  67. 167

Kid, you are such a moron. Are you not an American? Every American has a right to speak out and state who they are voting for. Yes, even the American celebrities and no, you do not have to be a genius to follow politics. It is nice to be alert and involved on what is happening to our country and the rest of the word. Can you imagine such a concept??? Wake UP!

  68. 168

cubstl, has it ever occured to you that maybe if a celebrity is backing Obama and not McCain, then maybe they want CHANGE in this country just like every single American? We love our country way too much to see it ran by an "out of touch" liar who is clueless on the economy as well as other issues that are effecting Americans on a day to day basis.

  69. 169

I agree that celebrities need to EDUCATE themselves about politics before they make statements, but I also think they have the right to speak out just like any other American. We have freedom of speech for a reason…

  70. 170

Man, now that's refreshing. Kid I love your music and I love your thinking. You are right, as soon as cow's like Oprah and Barbra Streisand publicly backed Barak. He did have a chance to win.

PEOPLE DON'T CARE WHAT CELEBRITIES THINK.

  71. 171

Kid Rock said, "I love Barrack Obama" but he will not endorse him.

I do agree that entertainers should…SHUT YOUR MOUTH. I don't want to, nor do I CARE, what you think!

  72. 172

    Well said dear sir!

  73. 173

He's just an animal killing Republican like Sarah Palin. He's just pissed no one in Hollywood is voting for his candidate: Grandpa and Gramdma.

  74. 174

VERY WELL SAID!!!!! I TOTALLY AGREE!!!!!

OBAMA HUSAIN CAN STICK HIS HOLLYWOOD FRIENDS UP HIS ASS.

  75. 175

Just another f*cking redneck with his head up his azz!

  76. 176

    Re: Roni_C.
His head is up his ass because he said, "I love Barrack Obama"
You Odumba supporters should look at everything before opening your mouth!
The fact is that Odumba has not experience leading or running ANYTHING!
Palin has 16 years, that includes city council, mayor, and governor.

  77. Memi says – reply to this

    177

I have always loved Kid Rock!

  78. 178

    I AGREE

  79. 179

STFU you has-never-been! WTF do you know you dumb redneck. You probably have never read a book.

  80. 180

I think this is the first time I've ever really agreed with this guy– not that he opens his mouth that much anyway. He probably wanted to slap Pam "the whore" Anderson in the face with that comment. Nice one.

  81. 181

I didn't know a political science degree was required for a political opinion- in that case, most of our presidential and vice presidential candidates that are running need to shut up, too. Just by him saying this illustrates his own point that you can make an ass out of yourself by trying to make a political statement. I think anyone 18 and over, that is a registered voter has a right to say their opinion, as stupid or intelligent as it may or may not be. A celebrity has a vote just the same as anyone else, they just have larger voice, no test or degree is required to vote, and any and all views should be welcomed in this country. If you write off Obama because you don't like Oprah, then you aren't voting on the issues anyway.

  82. 182

WOW! that is like the first smart thing I have ever heard from him! I can't stand him but I TOTALLY agree with it. It is the same with when politicians talk about religion! I think that hurts them as well… What the hell happened to "separation of church and state"? I think that they forget about it or just don't care!!

  83. 183

I love you Kid Rock!! I wish more people were like you! Keep rockin' baby!

  84. 184

Sounds reasonable to me…… I think he should date Pink

  85. 185

Good lord guess I should have read the comments before posting………….. ALl he is saying is I AM AWARE I have influnece and a voice and I am choosing to not open my mouth on a subject I don't feel I am that well informed on …. How the fuck is that bad, REALLY a lot of people should learn this lesson !!

  86. 186

wow, i thought i hated kid rock but this is a good statement! and oprah eff*n blows!

  87. Sgirl says – reply to this

    187

Amen! First intelligent thing I've heard out of a celeb in awhile. Too bad his fugly ex wife can't shut the fuck up with her big overinflated lips and dried out hair!

  88. 188

    THANK YOU KID ROCK!

    you said it perfectly.

  89. EBerg says – reply to this

    189

Voting is supposed to be confidential. So unless you're a politician, lobbyist, or work for a campaign, keep your mouth shut.

  90. 190

    Idiot.

Just because YOU know nothing about politics doesn't mean every other celebrity knows nothing about politics. Celebrities are people. People with minds and opinions. And while many of them act like fucking idiots, they are in actual fact no stupider than the general public. Some of them are even intelligent. And those intelligent celebrities who actually have bothered to learn a thing or two about their country's politics have as much right as your local tow-truck driver, convenience store clerk or kindergarten teacher to give voice to their concerns.

Kid Rock needs to learn to speak for himself. HE chooses to remain ignorant and therefore HE should not be making celebrity endorsements. It's painfully obvious that his distaste for political celebrities is merely a response to having been asked publicly about his political stance and, being too embarrassed to admit that he and he alone is too stupid to care, not having anything smart to say.

Celebrities, like everyone else, have a right and a responsibility to vote! Speaking publicly about your beliefs is a choice that we all have. I know if I was in a position to reach and influence others I would make damn sure I did!

Maybe he's just jealous because, lets face it, Kid Rock is not and has never been in a position to influence anyone outside of 14 year old boys. And even that only lasted for about three weeks in 1999.

  91. 191

FINALLY!!!!! An entertainer who realizes that fame (or notoriety) doesn't automatically mean a person knows jack about politics (Sean Penn and Richard Gere, take note).

  92. 192

He shouldn't use blanket statements & should just concentrate on himself. Yes, not all celebrities know a lot about politics & should keep their mouths shut. But there are many who do follow politics & world events. They know their sh!# & I think should help inform voters who otherwise might be persuaded by the hypocritical Right.

  93. 193

    Kid-You Rock!

  94. 194

Thank you Kid Rock! Finally a celeb with head on their shoulders. Lord knows Oprah is only voting for Obama because he's black.

  95. 195

    I AGREEE!

  96. 196

    I love Kid!!!
