A Little Hocus Pocus Never Hurt Someone
Over a dozen people were killed Sunday during a soccer match in eastern Congo after a riot broke out.
According to a U.N. funded radio station, a riot broke out over allegations that a player was using witchcraft during the match.
We can't make this up!
Most of the victims, sadly, were just children between the ages of 11 and 16.
Unfortunately, they were suffocated as panicked crowds began to run for the exits during the chaos.
Reports are that the police tried to control the violence by then firing into the air in an attempt to protect their commander, who was hit in the head and also wounded by fans.
Craziness!!!
Afterwards, dozens of teenagers then marched through the streets in protest on Monday.
Even Julien Mpaluku, their regional governor, paid a visit to those in the hospital.
Mpaluku did confirm that the government was investigating the situation and admitted that soldiers had fired into the air in order to clam angry crownds.
The shooting then prompted the panic, which killed several people "when the crowds all tried to leave at the same time. Most of the dead were children, only two or three were adults."
Witchcraft or not, let's hope they get better security in the future, and better exit locations.

This has nothing to do with football, in case you are not aware of this Eastern Congo is currently one of the most dangerous places on Earth. There is a devastating civil war with 15.000 casualties per day. They also have deeprooted traditional beliefs that some children are witches. This causes thousands of children to be casted out of their homes to live on the streets because they are believed to be "witchchildren". If something goes wrong it is quite common to blame it on a child and call it a witch. Sad but true. That so many were killed was most likely due to the extreme tension in the country and the ever-presence of militia and soldiers. And to McCainiac… if you want to solve any of the problems in the rest of the world partly caused by your republican party, for christs sake do NOT vote those retards into office for another four years. Outside of the US noone can possibly understand how anyone could vote for Bush TWICE??? or how anyone could now wish to vote for a man who is quite old and may very likely leave a completely inexperienced woman in power.

Apparently, life and education is valued less there. So what if a few more ignorant niglets die, there are too many anyways. More efforts should be focused on saving the endangered animals in Africa, the people there aren't worth it. I say let AIDS take its course.
