North Shore is an amazing facility and I urge any animal lovers out there to make them their primary charity. They take animals who normally would be euthanized for sickness or being malformed, and they rehab them so they can be adopted. If they aren't adopted, NSALA will support them until they die. But the only way to do that is by the money people donate. Now - I am a victim of the recent employment rate drop and am having difficulties finding work other than waitressing and bartending, but I try to send everything I can to this organization because I know the money is going to be spent for the good of the animals.

He looks so sad and beaten by life and it's just a baby. I hope the kitty finds a wonderful home. He/she deserves it.

I thank North Shore Animal League for their continued passionate efforts to save dogs and cats on Long Island, and also those who have adopted their pets from shelters like these. You are all lifesavers!

    12. 12

It's a bullshit charity whose president pays himself over $322,000.00 a year with your donations. It's rating is terrible - mismanaged funds, overspending on the wrong areas and not enough on the animals.
Try to adopt there and see the "hidden" costs that you're charged.

This bimbo should investigate an agency before she puts her (or, rather, her fiance's) name behind them.

My kitten looked just like this when we got him, same color and everything. The shelter told us that he just had an Upper Respiratory Infection, and that his eye was just gooey from that. It turned out that his eye was completely punctured, and he would be blind in it forever. He looks almost normal now, except his eye is kind of glazed over in this blue stuff. We think he's beautiful!

    14. 14

You're exactly right katria, the north shore animal league is a complete fucking scam. Their charity rating is extremely low and they have a long history of mismanaging funds. I'm all for helping animals, but give your money to a charity that actually does something like the human society NOT the NSAL.

BethO is a vapid cunt, she's pimping this shit charity and she has a designer purebred dog from a breeder. She hasn't adopted one single NSAL animal herself, she's just their paid spokeswhore who's using howard's name to generate some press for the shitty NSAL.

Btw, bethO is a fucking horseface.

    15. 15

Poor little special baby! I love it when people help animals because they are so innocent and good. I hope this kitten gets the help he needs.

    16. 16

whether you agree with what the NSAL does with the funds or not isn't the point. if you want to help animals, go out to your local shelter, adopt a pet in need, volunteer your time, or just give what you can. the bottom line is still helping animals!

    17. 17

$262,000… that must be one _very_ sick little kitty. Incidentally, that would buy thousands of vaccinations for people in developing countires. Way to set your priorities!

North Shore Animal League is a puppy mill! I had a friend who worked there when she was in college. You wouldn't believe the horror stories she told me about this place! I did get a dog there a long time ago before they redid the place, probably 15 years ago. Before I met my friend who worked there, I went there to get my dog a playmate. We were just looking around when they plopped this puppy(irish wolfhound mix) in our arms. We fell in love with him! We asked if we could adopt him and they went to get his paperwork. They came back out and took him from us and took him in the back. They then informed us that we couldn't adopt him because he had some sort of disease that was contagious! They told us we couldn't go home to our other dog until we had changed our clothes because he could get it!! Why would you put a contagious dog with other dogs and people who could possibly infect other dogs!?! DO NOT support this place!!! Donate to your local shelter or if your in the Long Island area support Bide-a-Wee or the little shelter!

It's absolutely horrendous what some people will do to victims that can't speak for themselves. I have never heard of the North Shore Animal League America…I will definitely check into this organization (to make sure that it is reputable).
My son and I make donations, each month, to the ASPCA (we are MASSIVE animal lovers/supporters)…and, we would be more than happy to support another cause that aids those who can't speak for themselves.

    21. 21

Knowing Howard only from the radio show, I still find it hard to believe he wouldn't have checked into this charity extensively before backing it. After reading some of these comments I would be more inclined now to check into it myself before donating… which is what probably should always be done anyway =)

    22. 22

Re: NoMoreJadeYay – How about you get your priorities straight and spend your donation on what you like and the animal lovers will help the animals who unlike the people have no voice and do not have the ability to help themselves.

Re: popo123 – OMG! I would have felt SO angry, if I were you.
I thank you, very much, for the info that you provided.
      **
BTW…why hasn't this organization been closed down, by now?

Re: NoMoreJadeYay – FYI….I would rather spend $1,000's for an animal (that can't speak for themselves) than for a human being that CAN…but, don't/won't.

Re: Anonymous – This place hasn't been shut down because everything is covered up! My friend that worked there said they owned several puppy mills in the south and they would get shipments of puppies on a daily basis. If you look at the puppies they all look the same month after month, year after year. They use the puppies as a way to get people in to look at the older dogs that need adoption. (You have to walk through the older dog area to get to the puppies) It is sick and twisted to buy puppies that are mistreated at a puppy mill just to get people into "BUY" other dogs. I say buy because there are so many hidden fees added on to the adoption price. I'm not the only one who's had a bad experience at NSAL. Check out complaintsboard dot com and search for North shore animal league or search the web. A lot of celebrities support NSAL by donating money and slapping their face on the organization. They don't know what actually goes on at this place. There were reports, I don't know if they are true, that the older dogs, if they were there too long, would be shipped off to shelters where they would be euthanized.

If you get a dog or cat from NSAL you are supporting puppy mills!!!

Please support the ASPCA, your local shelter or a more reputable no-kill shelters, like Bide-a-wee or the little shelter!!!

Re: popo123 – THANK YOU, popo123! I could never support an organization, such as the one you described.
I can't imagine anyone being so heartless and cruel as to torment animals in this way, and manner.
May I ask….is there an organization, that you can contact (such as the ASPCA or PETA) who can shut this 'organization' down? If you have never contacted them, I will be more than happy to.

    27. 27

Re: Anonymous – I'm not sure who can shut this place down. Sadly, I don't live on LI any more, so I don't think I could do much. I am sure people have probably tried to shut this operation down but they cover everything up. I'm sure a message to the ASPCA or PETA might help if enough people tell them. Anonymous- I am so glad if I got this message across to even just one person. Thanks for listening! There are so many other great organizations out there.

Please, Please, Please everyone, don't support NSAL!!! Support your local shelter or rescue group with not just your money but with your time. Even a few hours a month would be appreciated for any charity, not just ones for animals.

    28. 28

Can't these celebs just give the amount they hope to raise?

    29. 29

I'd hate to be an animal on this planet. People do insane things to them.

    30. 30

      Poor kitty :(

Now your kissing Howard Stern's Ugly Ass Twat Wife's Ass? You are pathetic.

    32. 32

okay this is NOT a bullshit charity!
this is right near where i live and i've donated things and money there.
they put their money towards helping the animals. and all people who work there are volunteers who don't recieve any payments. they're sweet and kind there.
