Gold Medal Found!

We mentioned yesterday how Olympic Gold medalist, Brendan Hansen, had his gold medal "stolen" from him while flying back home this week.

Hansen won his gold medal in the 400 medley relay with Michael Phelps.

Well, there's some good news finally.

The medal has been found!

Turns out a passenger found Hansen's medal and turned it in to the authorities.

And, although this is great news, we're just a little bit curious as to where the medal was found and how it got there.

In the end, what matters is that he got his medal back. Right?

no big mystery here, as was reported two days ago the flight had a layover in Nashville, and a passenger on that flight found the medal and promptly turned it into authorites…maybe you should read a local newspaper to be the first in the "know"!

Re: PrincessKitty – I fly quite often…and, it's very possible for this to happen.
Chances are, Hansen carried his medal in a carry-on bag (since the checked-in luggage can be searched, and items removed, without you knowing about it). And, if another passenger recognized him from the Olympics, and noticed which overhead bin he placed his bag…it would not be that difficult to wait for the moment to grab his bag, search through it, and take what he/she wanted. Since the flight from Beijing was, more than likely, an overnight flight…most of the passengers would have been sleeping when it happened.

IT'S BECAUSE AIRLINE EMPLOYEES ARE STEALING DURING THEIR SO CALLED "BAG CHECKS" I should know! I've had 2 Ipods stolen on flights and countless other smaller things, DUH! I don't put anything of value in a suitcase anymore because in the last 7 flights I have taken something has been missing EVERY TIME.

Take any one of the other three guys heads and plunk it on Phelps shoulders and you'd have a doable guy.

Re: CaraGirl – I agree with you! When my son was flying home (from California to Wisconsin)…it was during a massive blizzard. So, he had an overnight stay in Denver, and then it was another two days for him to be able to retrieve his baggage in Milwaukee. His PSP AND DSLITE (that he had just received as a gift about 1 month beforehand), along with ALL of the games, videos, movies and accessories that went with them, just up and disappeared.
DO NOT put anything of value in your checked-in baggage! Even if you put a lock on it, it WILL be cut. You would be better off to put your valuables in your carry-on luggage…and putting a lock on them!
