People Still Care About Metallica
Metallica's first album in over five years, Death Magnetic, is projected to be doing fairly well.
The record is on track to take the number one slot on the top U.S. album charts this week.
Sales data is being released on Wednesday, but according to preliminary estimates, their new album will make it big.
According to many sources, Death Magnetic is said to have sold 450,000 - 500,000 copies last week, even though the album was only on sale for three days.
Their last album, St. Anger, also sold very well during its first week of release, selling 419,000 copies in just three days as well.
Something that might be helping Metallica is the fact that some stores, like Best Buy, are bundling the album with Guitar Hero and even with some Metallica headphones.
Ticketmaster is also offering a ticket/album deal for buyers.
Will Metallica's new album will put them back in the spotlight???

If you did your research you will find how this was a long awaited and very anticipated album all over the world. Just look at how many albums were sold in many other countries during the first couple of days. Metallica will always withstand longevity.

Metallica fans are rejoicing. They haven't lost interest. Some of the most die hard music fans in the world are metal fans. My boyfriend and probably twelve of his friends bought this album last Friday, the day it came out. This album is way more hardcore than the previous album, St. Anger. It reverts back to the sound and style of the "old" Metallica (Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets). Be careful what you say Perez, Metallica will kick your ass….

I read your site every few days and certainly appreciate all the time and effort you put into your posts, but you are really talking out of turn with this Metallica stuff. Do you know anything about the band, or did you just see an AP wire about the release of Death Magnetic and decided to get into the action by slagging them?
If they did sell 450,000-500,000 records in 3 days, what exactly would lead you to believe that people don't care about them any more? Take a look at their concert attendance figures. That ought to set you straight. This is a band who consistently sells out almost every arena that they play in, worldwide. Do your homework next time before you throw a post up like that.
I'm sorry but I can NOT sit here and not add my opinion…. Metallica is one of the most influential Metal bands PERIOD!! The problem is… is that when St. Anger came out it was so awful.. I actually cried.. This newest album is better but not good its uninspired and the drums are lazy.. Will people loose interest?? NEVER Die hard Metallica Fans will always be diehards.. Even if we are mostly fans of the first 4-5 records.. Metallica RULES!!

Got my copy! I have 2 say I am pleasantly surprised. Well, I guess I shouldn't have been. It couldn't have been any worse that St. Anger! Death Magnetic is a pretty good mix of Metallica's ranges. There's something for everyone on this album.

Okay, leave lars alone, he's standing up for artists, and I love him for that. Metal fans are true music fans, probably the last bastion of real fans of rock out there. Metallica will never lose it's fan base, as tweens have access to the internet and their parents' music collection ( if said parents have any taste in music, Metallica will be in the mix someplace). I really think Cliff Burton (God rest his soul) would have loved this album as a testament to his life. Jason Newsted's probably pissed that they got over His Highness leaving the band, put out something better than St. Anger. Listen to 'My Apocolypse'…it's a kick-ass song. 'The Judas Kiss' roccks. It's really TOO MUCH METAL FOR ONE HAND!!!!!

Metallica have no place on this site. I think I can speak for metalheads globally, when I say that the anticipation for their new album has been huge and along with that, I am totally excluding the 'fans' who appeared after the 'black album and Load just because they appeared in the charts.

This is the most successful heavy metal band in the world and have sold-out stadiums all over the world over and over again. Not to mention that they headlined several of the biggest three day music festivals this past Summer. I've seen Metallica live about 8 times since 1996, most recently at the Reading Festival in England. I also saw them headline that same festival in 1997 and both years they were amazing and put on a hell of an awesome show! This year they did a two hour set, compelete with fire fountains from the stage set, firework displays and a huge screen as a stage backdrop behind them, as well as two huge screens either side of the stage, so everyone got to see the performance. They can sell-out eighty thousand seater massive football stadiums. Beat that yer bitches!
I also forgot to add that I saw Metallica at Reading in 2003. That was one hell of an unforgettable performance, too. Like I said,
