That was a great performance! She's got a very sultry jazzy voice - suits that style very well. The performance was subtly upbeat but with melancholy blended in….
I can't believe the First Lady would sing this! "Tu es ma came" means "You are my coke"!!!!! Classy.

Not something I would go out and buy, but I liked it, I love the French language, it's so beautiful.
I loved it. Huge Carla Bruni fan. Loved her since her first album "Quelqu'un m'a dit". For those who can't speak or understand French "No Promises" is also a great song. That's why I love Europeans always progressive with their First Ladies. I wish a first Lady in the US had a talent like this.

Also, it's hard to hate on France's first lady for being a singer when we have such a ridiculous "hockey mom" VP nomination. Carla Bruni's only official function is to be charming, which she is. And she's pretty good at her second job too. Who says the french are not hardworking?

it's Sarkozy..and I like her. I'm mainly into 50's music, rockabilly, swing and such, have been for the last 20 years, but Carla Bruni is the only type of "modern/current" type of music I like. Caught some of her tunes on YouTube yesterday, quite good actually..
why do so many people have it out for this poor lady!? Princess Grace…one of the most revered royals of the modern age…was once nothing more than a little actress. People aren't defined by their jobs or stations. I thought we were past the age of eugenics.

Well. dunno being a first lady I think takes big responsability ..in some ways you become a property of the country… you represent the country to the world…
I'm not so sure if all french people are happy about having a little folk singer as the face of their goverment.
I think she should have put the little singing to the side and concentrate on things more "stately"
I mean she has an ok voice .. not great just ok ….
so If I were her… instead of giving interviews about her music .. about traveling to promote a stop to AIDS or world hunger….
and perhaps she should continue her singing after her husbands term
Wouldn't say she sucked, but it wasn't groundbreaking by any means. Her whole new album is full of cliched metaphors.
