They Were There

Filed under: Jodie Foster > Barbra Streisand > Barack Obama > Leonardo DiCaprio > Chris Rock > Will Ferrell

chrisleo__opt1.jpgjodiewill__opt1.jpg

Leonardo DiCaprio, Jodie Foster, Chris Rock and Will Ferrell dug deep and paid the $28.5K to attend the Barbara Streisand-led fundraiser for Barack Obama in LA on Tuesday.

According to a new report, Obama opened up and shared his feeling about the 'concerns' people have had about the closeness of the race to the White House:

“A lot of you, just in conversations while we were in the photo lines, had all sorts of suggestions… And a lot of people have gotten nervous and concerned. Why is this as close as it is? And what’s going on?” The Illinois senator said that the race was always going to be a hard-fought contest because he represented a “leap” for voters, especially when running against John McCain, a “genuine hero” with a “compelling biography.” Obama said that there was “enormous resistance … because people have been fed cynicism for a long time” but he said that he remained “confident about winning because I’ve looked at John McCain, I’ve looked at Sarah Palin, I’ve looked at their agenda, and they don’t have one.”

Barack is so diplomatic!

  6. 6

…careful stars! AIG just got bailed out. Watch your hard earned dollars. But what an excellent investment, for a 'change'.

  7. 7

And Barry Hussein is dumb also. Everyday John McCain and Sarah Palin are out on the campaign trail telling everyone what their plan is while Barry hangs out with the elite in Hollywood. Yeah that's real change Barry. I'll stick with a real American like McCain.

  8. 8

Come November, we're fucked with whoever ends up being the next president.

  9. 9

Weird, but I pictured Chris Rock voting for McCain.

  10. 10

    YESSS!!!

  11. 11

    Good Morning LettyB

  12. 12

    YES !!!
    OBAMA 08!!!

  13. 13

If Heidi Montag was there I would vote for Obama.

  14. 14

This is the campaign of a very desperate man. If you have to turn to your friends in Hollyweird than there is not much left of a campaign. He's running out of things to say folks. He's down to the last gasp effort. If you have to rely on Hollyweird to elect you, you are practically dead now.

Re: LettyB – Yeah, but look at what these retards (celebs) did to Kerry's campain…
I think celebs start to piss off normal folk like us and…
    Goodbye Rocco Bama

  21. 21

Seriously… why is this race so close? It should be a no-brainer! Why are people supporting McCain/Palin? Are supporters brainwashed to think that Palin is actually qualified and nonjudgmental? Or that McCain will actually change our country? Wake up people!

    Re: njpaul0129

Hm, but I just read this: "GOP lawmakers sue to stop Palin investigation

By Steve Quinn / Associated Press

JUNEAU, Alaska - Five Republican state lawmakers filed suit Tuesday to end the bipartisan investigation into Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's firing of the public safety commissioner even though the vice presidential candidate once said she welcomed the probe into allegations of abuse of power.

The lawsuit called the investigation "unlawful, biased, partial and partisan." None of the lawmakers who filed the suit in Anchorage Superior Court serves on the bipartisan Legislative Council that unanimously approved the investigation.

Palin fired public safety commissioner Walt Monegan in July. Weeks later, it emerged that Palin, her husband, Todd, and several high-level staffers had contacted Monegan about state trooper Mike Wooten, who had gone through a nasty divorce from Palin's sister before Palin became governor. While Monegan says no one from the administration ever told him directly to fire Wooten, he says their repeated contacts made it clear they wanted Wooten gone…."

  23. 23

lol @ Obama complaining about cynicism. Isn't "REPUBLICANS SUCK. AMERICA SUCKS NOW. EVERYONE THINKS WE SUCK. VOTE FOR ME!" pretty much his entire platform?

    Obama diplomatic?
Obama was for a speedy withdrawal of the troops, but when Bush wanted to bring them home he told the Iraqi government to wait until he was in office to announce the withdrawal. Obama is just a dirty politician who will do and say anything to get elected.
He saw his withdrawal plan being taken over by Bush so he was pissed… Why can't he just be happy the troops were coming home regardless of his doing?

God, I hate that guy with a PASSION!!!!

  25. 25

    Re: njpaul0129
At least it s not all "corruption" and "lies" as is the case with the Republicans…

  26. 26

Haters haters haters, put your white hoods back on.

  27. 27

    Re: LettyB
    can I kiss you face?

  28. 28

talk about out of touch with real Americans - hanging out with those has-beens? I don't think so! I can't wait to see that jigaboo fall flat on his wide-nose and big lips in November!

  29. 29

Everyone turn on Rush Limbaugh at 12 eastern time and learn something. He's got this Barry Hussein Obama pinned liked a donkey he is.

  30. 30

Re: LettyB – Letty, you're such a freaking tard!

  31. 31

Then why are you so scared? Could it be that you lack experience and choose a "dud" running mate only because he is a senior senator with longer experience in the senate but like you, he has NEVER governed. Barrak has zero experience governing the people of this nation and he's running for president! Palin actually has more experience than Obama.

    Re: Renfamous

Just FYI: The entire world thinks "America sucks" ever since the Bush maffia came into power and ruined your FINANCES and your morals and your REPUTATION! Clinton was cheered when he came to Europe whereas everytime Bush came our police and military had to spend more htan 30 million Euros on just to PROTECT Bush from PROTESTORS in Europe! Bush s clan and entourage when he came here to visit Merkel even tried to block out European media and to prevent them from reporting the protest they saw - which luckily did NOT WORK in Europe! *G*

  33. 33

Well, Obama is right about one thing.

John McCain is a genuine hero.

    Vote McCain/Palin 2008!

  34. 34

    Re: Bavaria

lol do you think there would even BE a "probe" or an "investigation" if she wasn't the Republican VP candidate? They're investigating the fact that people think that she might have implied to other people that she might have thought the cop who threatened her family's lives, TASERED AN 11-YEAR-OLD, and drove his patrol car DRUNK wasn't such a great guy to be protecting and serving their state.
Even if she did go out of her way to have him fired, which I don't think she did, I wouldn't have a problem with it at all.

  35. 35

Re: LettyB – Yes, but sadly most havent even graduated high school, none of them have a degree in political science that I know of…I would be frightened to agree with the likes of Pamela Anderson, Lindsey Lohan, Pink etc.

  36. 36

Yup, just Barry Obama hangin' with his homeys.

  37. 37

Only Obama can make a burn sound classy! I feel lucky to live in a time where I am going to get to see this man in the White House.

  38. 38

    Re: hollyholly8

Honestly - no one in Germany understands this! Must be American masochism…or your people FORGET too quickly! :-)

  39. 39

wouldn't it have been refreshing if we woke up this morning to the headline that Obama had made an announcement at the event that all proceeds from the event were going to be sent directly to the gulf coast?………..oh no, canceling the snl appearance made enough of a statement to reach out to those affected

  40. 40

Whatever. Way to host a $28,000 fundraiser in a time of economic crisis. WAY TO ACT LIKE THE MIDDLE CLASS OBAMA!!!

  41. 41

I wait to see who all the celeblefties are going to vote for and then I vote for the opposite person, how else would I know how to vote? Thank you Hollywood.

  42. 42

    Mmmm, Leo is looking fine!

  43. 43

Re: Bavaria – Wooten was convicted of DWI while employed as a state trooper…it was found very unusual that he kept his job when 2 years earlier a trooper from the same department was fired for the same offense. He should have been dismissed.

  44. 44

Re: PunkyBrewstein – Awesome. I love it too that he is so 'normal' just like 'us' and yet, were 'we' there? Nope. Just rich famous people. And us 'normal' folk are left here to read about it on Perez.

  45. 45

Well what is Obama's agenda? Change? What change, all I have seen and read is that our money will change, for the worse. Repeal all the tax cuts of the Bush administration, higher income taxes, less money for us the working folks. Everyone tries to blame Bush for our economic problems, LISTEN PEOPLE, what party has the majority in the Senate and Congress, Bush does make and pass laws, those idoit democrats are doing it.

  46. 46

To everyone who keeps saying they don't care what celebs have to say…umm, yeah ya do or you wouldn't be on this website. You just don't like that most of them disagree with you.

Personally, I want to know where celebs stand because it shows their level of intelligence. I will not support conservative artists because conservatives lack character and compassion. I will pity them and work hard for them to keep their right to be ignorant but I will not financially support their art. Luckily for me, there is not a single famous Republican who I am or ever was a fan of.

  47. 47

Re: Hard-On – Unfortunately I think you are right. This country is going down the tubes, sad sad sad. But eventually all great nations colapse.

  48. 48

    Re: Bavaria

Can you please let me know exactly what we did as a nation that made you think we give a FUCK about who Europe supports in our presidential election?
You all seem to think that Americans are stupid for not supporting YOUR candidate, never mind that it is OUR election representing OUR opinions. Yes, international relations are important, but as a whole you elitists aren't even open to cooperation unless we elect your buddy Obama.
I hate to break it to you, but you aren't that goddamn important to us. We need a president who will take care of our country FIRST, not one who will be sucking the EU's dick for four years.

  49. 49

yes there they are the happy and shiny people at at $28,500 a plate fund raiser, because they sooo understand the "little people", what a joke! McCain /Palin 08
