Perezcious reader Jennifer was (un)fortunate enough to see John Mayer do his comedy thing in the NYC this past Sunday.
She sent us her pix and an account of the evening to share with y'all:
Last Sunday we went to the Comedy Cellar in NYC. John Mayer made a special appearance.
My friend and I took pictures when he walked on stage. There was no sign saying we couldn't. Her flash accidentally went off and he acted annoyed and called us "You Tube". He kept talking about his break up (with Jennifer Aniston) although he never said her name we all knew. It seems he is still not over her!! He wasn't very funny — perhaps he should stick to music!

I doubt he was talking about Jen, that non-relationship was fake from the beginning. And if he was, it must've been in their contract for him to continue acting like he's not over her, so she doesn't appear like the loser that she is.

I liked John until I realized how self-involved the guy is. PATHETIC. Then the whole Jennifer Aniston thing was a trip. Telling the world he broke up with her and that he did it because he didn't want to lead her on…he felt he needed an applause for that one.

John Mayer reminds me of Criss Angel… hangs around celebrity women to get HIS OWN face in the news… then blabs and blabs about it to anyone who will listen. Frankly, I had never even heard of John Mayer until he starting dating Jessica Simpson.. I think this is how he gets his exposure. You can so tell he puts on this big, phony "I'm a nice guy act".. like when he stuck up for Jessica in the news when everybody in Dallas hated her… You know she was probably thinking.. "asshole, you screwed me over and now you wanna look like the nice guy in the news!" John Mayer is a puke.
The story is true… I'm the friend whose flash accidentally went off. For the person who wanted more details… he basically was talking about how he wishes the relationship had ended badly so he could call her a c*nt and just be done with it. I think he is still pining for her, or this is the only way he can get attention. He may be hot to some people, but his attitude towards his fans is appalling. Eventually, enough people will have a run in with him and he'll be tagged the douchebag of the century. I feel somewhat sorry for him…. fame isn't an easy thing to handle.
whats the deal with all the jm ragging? i mean jm is an artist a true artist. the man is one of the best blues guitarists today, he writes great music well minus 'room for squares' totally a sell-out album. but why do people worry so much about all the bull shit written about him? why not pay attention to the shit that pete wientz says in playboy admitting to being addicted to perscription pills, doing acid at 14, aiming a gun at is head, someone like him is the one starving for attention but nobody has taken to it and plastered that all over the internet. just because john mayer dated jennifer aniston everyone thinks hes some pathetic person who craves attention? i also was romantically connected with heidi klum, and jessica simpson but after his break up with anniston hes some sort of dumb ass that nobody can stand.
im rambleing a lot but fuck, john mayer is incredibly fucking talented, not many people write their own lyrics, guitar pieces, are ahead of art direction for albums/dvds and are also the president of their own tour. hes fucking smart. lay off…and go read a playboy and look at whitney ports nipple, at least she hungers for the attention.

I enjoy John Mayer’s music but it is just something about his personal antics that really turns me off. I keep getting the feeling that when it came to his relationship with Jennifer Aniston, he was just whoring her for the mass attention.

A pure, unadulterated TOOL this one is. The Comedy Cellar is so small & personal. If I was there I would have thrown something at him. Then I would hope the rest of the crowd joined in. He's lucky I wasn't there. There is only 1 way out of this place & you have to walk through the audience to get out. He would have been crawling & limping up to the street level!

John Mayer has become a tragic, laughable figure who despite any real talent he has, is now more known for his ramblings and his complete lack of tact regarding his partners. He doesn't need company - he's too in love with himself. John, if you're reading this and I believe you do - I'd really like to see things from your point of view, but I can't jam my head that far up my ass. (o:
I love this man. Musically he is amazing. He is talented and he can be very witty and charming, and he is so hott!.. but this comedy stuff has got to stop. He is not a comedian, he is a musician and he is demoralizing himself by doing this because he is not funny….and why oh why would he want to do a comedy act about relationships when he is getting so much bad press right now for exactly this. John, get in the studio and do what you do so well and stay out of the tabloids…they are making an ass out of you. Your fans love you and we know what is soooo very special about you.. There is a reason some kids eat lunch alone in high school.
