Is Mozart really dead?
Researchers have uncovered a brand new piece of music handwritten by Mozart. It was uncovered in some little dark room where it had been forgotten about in a library in France.
The sheet of music is incomplete, though, as it is only a blueprint for the melody without any instrumentation or harmonies. But "it is absolutely new" said Ulrich Leisinger, head of research at the International Mozarteum Foundation in Salzburg, Austria, "We have new music here."
That's one pricey piece of paper! If it were to be sold at auction, experts predict it could easily fetch over $100k!

They don't mean "new" as in composed yesterday, but "new" as in never before seen or was lost and is now found. He's definitely dead…didn't you see "Amadeus"…they just threw him in a ditch…IN A DITCH. What was that all about. Totally great news for the music world…now someone just needs to complete the music…fill in what's missing and add to what is sure to be a beautiful and interesting melody!! The article states : Mozart did not write it before 1787, Leisinger said. Mozart died in 1791.
He had fallen ill during the last year of his life, my guess is he had started to write the piece at this time and was unable to finish due to his health.

Mozart's burial was not dumped in a ditch. His burial was typical at that time in Vienna. Movie gave impression Wolfy was down to his last dime and nobody cared. Not true. When news of his death traveled, large memorial services were attended by crowds in many European capitals.
Besides masterworks like "Don Giovanni", over 600 concertos & sonatas, Mozart even wrote scatological music which I know will interest Perez readers. One canon is "Leck mich im Arsch" (literally "Lick me in the arse", sometimes idiomatically translated "Kiss my arse" or "Get stuffed") K. 231. Wacky genius who loved gold clothes.

I am so impressed you posted this! I am a classical musician and avid Mozart fan, especially his later works! As someone who reads Perez at least twice a day, and teaches little kids how to play orchestral instruments, I thank you for being the gate for yet another useful fact, lets just hope they find more!

I think Diddy should by it and turn it into a classic. It would really be interesting and not a bad idea for him either, I don't think $100k is much of an investment, when you are talking about history. I'm sure others would disagree, but they would be….well, let's just say - if he doesn't and I had $100k - I would take it and finish the missing pieces my own way. If not Diddy, then someone else, like Alicia Keyes or Celine Dion.
