Behind The Hacking

As we mentioned yesterday, Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin had her Yahoo email hacked into.
Screenshots of her inbox, along with a few emails, were leaked to the Internets. And now, new details are being released as to how the hackers got into her account.
By impersonating her online!
It was actually really simple.
The hackers knew Palin's date of birth, her home zipcode, and guessed that she met her husband in highschool.
With those way too easy "security questions" answered, the hackers were able to change her password to "popcorn."
So an obvious piece of advice to everyone, select a difficult question and put an answer only you would know, even if it doesn't match the question.
Obviously, the FBI and the Secret Service are launching an investigation into the intentional hack.
Even comments by the "hacker" have circulated around the Internets already, with one message stating, "I am the lurker who did it, and i would like to tell the story." He/she adds that what had started as a prank was only cut short because of worries that the FBI would investigate.
Duh, you're committing a big crime!
Gabriel Ramuglia, who operates the Internet anonymity service in Athens, GA, that was used by the hacker, said he is fully willing to cooperate with authorities.
Ramuglia said he was reviewing his own logs and promised to turn in any helpful information to the feds, since the hacker violated the rules against using the service for illegal activities.
Ramuglia added, "If you're doing something illegal and causing me issues by doing this, I'm willing to cooperate. Obviously this is the most high profile situation I've dealt with."

No, breaking the law is a very bad thing. After two DUI's (praise the Lord Jesus I didn't hurt anyone) I am a complete stickler for abiding the law to a T. Right down to only crossing the street when I have my "little white walking man", even if there is no other car in sight, to also never turning right on red without bringing to car to a complete and total stop. I hope they prosecute this son-of-a-bitch to the fullest extent of the law. And I hope he learns a real good lesson from it, just like I did. Breaking the law is not cool. Do your shit legally. Get your drunk on at home and don't even think about driving until your BAC is zero. There is a fine line between using a personal e-mail account as opposed to a business one. If e-mails from colleagues are coming thru your personal account and they are of a personal nature (such as discussing work, trying to boost the other up, even arguing about work) it is considered personal. If you actually conduct business over a personal account, that is a different story. Hopefully she wasn't discussing or trying to conduct business affairs over her personal e-mail account. If not, it is nobody's business what she has to say over her personal, private account.

HOWELL, Mich. - The U.S. Secret Service said Wednesday it's investigating two threatening letters against Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama — one sent to the Livingston County Democratic Party and another to a local business.
Douglas Zloto, resident agent in charge of the federal agency's Saginaw office, said authorities are trying to determine the nature and extent of the threats.
"The Secret Service takes every threat extremely seriously," he told The Ann Arbor News. "We will be using every resource to investigate this threat … and to determine how it was made."
The letter sent to the party office reportedly expresses a wish that Obama "gets a bullet." The second to the unidentified Howell business owner includes racial slurs — preceded by a warning that the owner should "think hard about who you are trying to elect."
