When I heard about this on MTV Canada's Aftershow tonight I was shocked! … not shocked that he was gay but shocked that after all these years he came out of that fucking closet!! I dont know who he was trying to fool! Too funny!

This is soo funny. I knew he was gay from a few degrees of separation with another American Idol contestant. But sworn to secrecy, said nothing. I'm glad he just decided to do this even though I know what his issues were originally. Next Ricky martin will have to come out, and yet again another first hand situaton where I know he's gay. I knew Clay in Raleigh, NC before he was on Idol, and he was pretty much sneaking around for boys then. It seemed like he was more worried about his mother's reaction than anything else. She's this big Baptist Churh supporter, like one of the biggest in the state, and he was terrified of being disowned by her if she found out. I'm sure she doesn't care now that he's paid off her mortgage and has all this money. I'm glad he finally came out, but I wish he would have done it sooner. I also knew the guy who outed Clay in the Enquirer, and Clay just sat back and did nothing while his crazy Claymate fanbase went out of their way to try to destroy several peoples' lives that were involved, some indirectly, in that scandal. I wonder how they like Clay now.

I'm very glad this finally came out. I've never been a Clay fan, mostly because I hate his music, but another reason was because he was obviously gay and denied it. We live in an shitty world that is very hard on different people, but you know-stand up for yourself and come out..you'll only be loved more for being proud of your sexuality. I think it's wonderful he's setting a good example for his son. Eff people that leave him because of his lifestyle. He has a family now, and family comes first.
