Is saMAN a Self-Loathing Lesbian?

Despite saMAN's obvious affections for LezLo and her recent MySpace Sarah Palin rant, the DJ turned down an offer to spin at a benefit to save West Village's lesbian institution Rubyfruit.
The 15-year-old bar was named after Rita Mae Brown's Rubyfruit Jungle. Serving as a lesbian landmark in New York, Rubyfruit has hosted the likes of dykon Martina Navratilova and Tammy Lynn Michaels, who later declared her commitment to Melissa Etheridge.
Recently, however, escalating rent and declining business threatened to shut the place down. A wealthy benefactor came to the bar's rescue and it will close temporarily for remodeling and reopening as the RF Lounge.
saMAN would have DJed at the opening benefit party.
Owner Debra Fiero said that plans were running smoothly with saMAN until the DJ learned that the Rubyfruit is a gay and lesbian bar. Then she reportedly dropped out because she doesn't do "those kinds of venues."
Oh, we see - "those kinds."
saMAN's spokesman, Brandon Phelps, claims otherwise, saying that they were never approached by the bar.
Denial seems to be a running theme with saMAN, especially considering her "friendship" with LezLo.

I hate to say it, but I tend to believe Samantha on this one. Even if she did not want to do it, why would she say she doesn't do those kind of venues when she could simply claim another commitment? Doesn't make sense. She is smart enough to know that she would be quoted if she said something so stupid, so I am guessing this is complete bullshit.
The fact that she is so obviously annorexic shows that she is somewhat self-loathing. Also the fact that she always mugs for the camera making the false tough face, and phony gang signs shows that she is not comfortable in her own skin. It's no wonder that she doesn't like gay bars, she hates herself, she is gay, therefore she hates "Gay".

P Nasty I know you hate her, but this is s stretch. I've never heard of her doing a set at a many different kinds of places, so if she doesn't do gay bars (and incidentally, I am a HUGE Rita Mae Brown fan, anyone reading this, go get any one of her books, you will not be sorry) or date bars that doesn't mean she is ambivalent about her sexuality. Besides, there is no way to know what happened, the story from the owner of the bar and from Ms Ronson's rep don't line up, so I suspect miscommunication about this whole thing.

Being in a gig with with more of a lesbian crowd that I don't really know makes me feel a little uncomfortable as I feel they will not get my stuff and I find myself having to hold back on my wild antics that I would normally do in front of my peeps. So yeah, I think twice before booking at 'Those Kinds' of gigs. Plus I don't want them to consider booking me because 'I'm just one of the girls'.
I joke that me and my girlfriend are not Lesbians since we do have a sense of humor, constantly surrounded by gay boys, love musicals and like it up the butt.

Ok. I'm going to assume that there is more going on at Rubyfruit then just it being a gay bar that's making her turn it down. Maybe management did something she didn't like or insulted her in some way. If that's the case, then it wouldn't matter who the bar was for in the first place.
But if it is about it being a gay bar… honestly, any lesbian would know by the name alone that it's a gay bar in 2 seconds flat. Rubyfruit Jungle is like, Lesbian Lit 101, right there with On Our Backs and The Well of Loneliness. How can you possibly miss that? It's just short of the entrance being a giant labia.

Give me a break. Someone seeking diversity doesn't say things like "doesn't do those kinds of venues", unless of course it's a Klan rally or something. Well… That makes sense to me, she doesn´t want to be taken as a "lesbian icon" or be related to all of those events just because she is one of the few openly gay famous person, she wants to be taken as a DJ. maybe she doesn't want to be seen as a lesbian that hangs out at all gay bars because she wants to be the one to always be where it's cool for everyone. I'm here in Vancouver Canada- I'm a straight person that loves to go and hang atgay bars, straight bars- anywhere…I love lesbian bars because most times the women are just really nice and down-to-earth. I go to a lot of the "young crowd" gay bars and the people are snotty and rude to you if you are straight. If people want equality, we all need to hang together and not care what the other person does, or who they choose to love.
At the same time, if she actually said she doesn't do "those types of venues" that's just kinda rude. I can understand if she is just making a stand against segregation- but that would perhaps be a little too much of a "read in" on my part.
I guess we'll only know by what she says about it.
