As one of the firsts to do so yesterday, we informed y'all how Janet Jackson is no longer with her label, Island Def Jam.
They have "parted ways" and now more information is being released.
After a long relationship with Virgin, Janet signed with Island Def Jam in July 2007.
Her most recent album, Discipline, was released in February of this year.
But when the album didn't sell what she expected, she became dissatisfied with Island Def Jam. Janet even said in an interview that her label had "stopped all promotion whatsoever on the album" after releasing the first single, Feedback.
So, just 14 months after signing on with Def Jam, Janet decided it was time to end the relationship. And according to her publicist, it was Janet's decision.
Even earlier this month she hinted at the possible split, saying "I can't say if we'll be working with them in the future. I don't know what the future holds between the two of us."
Jackson's management team has released a new statement. It mentions that Janet will now "have autonomy over her career, without the restrictions of a label system."
So she'll be doing it herself! All the success or failure is on her shoulders!
The statement adds, "Always known to break new ground and set trends, Janet's departure from Island makes her one of the first superstar artists to have the individual freedom to promote their work through a variety of avenues such as iTunes, mobile carriers and other diverse and innovative channels."
So in other words, much more $$$ for Miss Jackson.
Madonna recently scored a MEGA BUCKS deal with LiveNation.

It's no wonder regarding the lack of record sales and ticket sales. That Feedback song was the strongest song on the CD - and it was awful. Hey Janet - could you please sing a little louder…. like above the music???

Okay, so doesn't (didn't)her boyfriend have a record company? Doesn't she have enough money (what's left of it) to start her own independent label and shop her own record around? Maybe she needs to get away from pop and put out an acoustic cd? Or get away from all this big ass production that looks like Rhythm Nation on heroin; maybe she needs to work with Jay-Z and put out a rap project; maybe she should talk to Jay-Z about starting from scratch; maybe she and Mariah should team and do a song; maybe her and Miley Cyrus should do a song; maybe she should do another movie…Janet, stop your friggin whining, get a better management team, and work it out!!!

Live Nation has been courting her since they offered to do her tour - which is selling out (they knew it would and don't waste time with poor shows).
She's going digital - her audience will buy and her fan base is as strong as Madonna's. They are both artists with huge influence & staying power but are not relevant to the tweens anymore, but make big bucks nonetheless.
It's that simple.

Yes Del Rob - I am def going to make that show and anyone who's into goo music, especially good pop would love it!
But the whole playing lounges thing, Toronto - nah - she's got too much money and too much sense (especially by leaving the label biz) to let people run her change - JD doesn't get his hands on it, he's got his own millions. But you made me chuckle!
Perez should have posted the whole course of events that got released yesterday, cuz they mentioned Live Nation was courting her and Rodney Jerkins wants to work with her and Jimmy Jam & Terryto make a classic standard people will buy without having to run with the lil pop tarts she helped create.
If this was Perezzer's "other" queen this story would be spun into gold. Even when people started reported madge's tour lacked, the papers were praising JJ's tour but not a peep from her big fan "Perez" - to worried it might make his Queen look bad after pumping all that smoke around her so-so CD & tour … I say best to them oth but Perezers doesn't really work that way - it is his blog I guess, maybe he should manage his girl's tour?

I saw this concert and I have to say I was disappointed. I don't think she sang a full song during the concert. All Medlies. I was really surprized how much weight she's gained, since 6 months ago when she look phenomenal. I'm shocked that she wasn't in better shape, after rehearsals, etc. I also felt her energy level was not up there at all. I love Janet, but this tour is definitely not her best.
Like to see what all you haters look like when you get to Janet's age Janet is fierce!!! And nobody can bring her down not even U haters… I wonder what is happening with Mandonna sales?

her last 2 albums were amazing.. sales say nothing about quality and creativity..
I wish her all the best and hope she continues with making music.. the world would be much emptier and less creative without her.

just saw the tour in vegas…only my second janet concert…it started out good but by the sixth song alot of us were over it….she really needs to reinvent herself…the same choreography at EVERY tour ,,,the discipline track was just vile…guess you cant teach an old dog new tricks;( HATED THE COSTUMES AND THAT STUPID MOHAWK….what was she thinking??????
