Meg Ryan: "Dennis Quaid Cheated On Me - A Lot"

America's (former) sweetheart, Meg Ryan, is finally opening up after years of silence and talking about her former marriage to (she claims) adulterer Dennis Quaid.
On her marriage, Meg reveals that "Dennis was not faithful to me for a very long time, and that was very painful. I found out more about that after I was divorced."
Poor Meg!
But, she adds, "I am not a victim. I was there. I was in that marriage for a really long time. Some days you think, This is so crazy, and you are all intellectual about it. And other days, it's just really, really painful."
So, after her public divorce in 2001 and her brief hookup with Russell Crowe, Ryan opted to stay out of the media spotlight for a while. Effectively killing her career.
Oh, and that whole thing about calling her "America's Sweetheart" which started more than 20 years ago…..Turns out Meg doesn't like it.
She says, "It's an old-fashioned idea, so anachronistic. I understood it was a compliment about being lovable, and it felt nice … but it also felt, after a time, like ideas were being projected onto me that had nothing to do with me. The girl next door to what? I never felt like a very conventional person."
Ingrate!
So, what's Ryan been up to these past few years?
Traveling and living off her millions of course.
Meg says, "I've been famous for a long time, and these last years there's been a great lull. So its has been me throwing a backpack on, traveling a lot — its been fantastic."
Turns out the traveling has been great. And almost three years ago she adopted a baby girl from China during her travels, Daisy True.
Of the adoption, Meg adds, "I don't feel like I adopted a child. I feel like I just got this unbelievable companion. Daisy is brilliant. This kid says things every day that make you just stop and stare at her. As mysterious and magical as it is to have a baby you gave birth to, I have that exact same thing with Daisy. I feel like we made some agreement, long ago and far away, to meet in the way we did."
Looks like Meg's life has been pretty clam and boring lately. But that's probably what she wants.

You sound so judgmental in this post Perez, why doesn't it seem like you're capable of being happy for her? Clearly, if only from the tidbits you brought us, she's gone through some personally difficult times. Kudos to her for coming back and being a single and happy mother.

She isn't an ingrate for speaking her mind. She didn't say I hate the people that called me that — she said she didn't like being pigeonholed. If you're going to criticize, at least make it a legitimate one.
What is so wrong with someone not liking to be boxed in by a nickname she had nothing to do with? I doubt her life has been boring though — sounds like her travels and her new child are amazing — you're just upset because she's not a media whore.

OK, seriously, she looks terrible…too much surgery…she has The Joker smile…but, how can you possibly say her life seems calm and boring? She's traveling the world, spending her cash, hanging out with her kid. Sounds pretty fantastic to me. I also have to say, she's hardly an ingrate because she doesn't like being called America's Sweetheart. That would probably annoy most women.

Looking GREAT, Megs! Her hair always looks fabulous! Wow - didn't figure Dennis to be the cheating type. Dennis' new wife looks just like Meg. Her little daughter Daisy is ADORABLE! How nice that she had a "lull" and spent the time traveling and enjoying her hard earned $. BTW ladies, in case you haven't seen it - "The Women" is SUCH a good film. I've seen it twice and loved it even more the second time around. If you liked Sex and The City, you'll love this movie too!

Ok, two things, first of all, Meg, Daisy doesn't need a "Companion" although obviously you do, you adopted a child that needs a parent. Also, what she says isn't amazing, brilliant or something that would make you stop and stare. Most children say funny or clever things, they are children and they have great imaginations. You have obviously never been around children before. Lastly, can you try to be a little less obvious about the massive issues you have about not giving birth to your own child? No, what you have with Daisy isn't the same thing, it isn't necesarrily worse or better, but to sit there and shout from the rooftops that it is exactly the same just makes it painfully obvious that the main person you are trying to convince of this…..is yourself. So let me just end this by saying, you are obviously a little crazy, and probably shouldn't have tried to adopt a child in the first place but since you did, try to be a mother and not a "Companion".

I think she's great. Her last few movies haven't been great, but SHE is great. And she's still adorable, in spite of all that plastic surgery she never should have gotten.
Travelling with the people you love the most is frickin' awesome. I love going new places with my fam! She also sounds as though she needed the years to put herself right. Good for her!!!!

I think it's funny she says this now, because the public seriously turned against her. The "Proof of Life" set romance was prior to the divorce, not the way you have it, P, and call it a double standard, because other stars have done it, (hello, I mean you Brangelina) but it did more to damage her career than any choice to take time off. I don't get it, after all, I like her more recent movies much more than the early stuff, but that's the way it goes. So long as she's happy, that's really the important thing anyway.
