This Is Not A Joke

While here in the States we deal with our own economic struggles, the world endures other hardships as well.

In India Lalit Kishore Choudhary, 47 - CEO of the Indian operations of Graziano Transmissioni - was bludgeoned to death by a group of angry workers recently laid off by the company.

That's hardcore!

On Monday, more than 100 former workers had gathered outside the car parts manufacturing plant while a meeting met within to discuss a possible reinstatement. The workers had been laid off following a prior incident at the factory, the result of underlying tensions regarding disputes over management, pay, and contracts.

The group outside responded to a cry for help within and rushed the building. Vastly outnumbered, company staff and executives scrambled for cover, with one man locking himself in his office.

More than 60 people were arrested with 20 in the hosptial.

A separate incident occurred about a month ago, where thousands of violent protesters brought Tata - the Indian conglomerate that owns Land Rover and Jaguar - to a halt, ceasing construction on a new car manufacturing plant. Other companies have experienced similar protests.

A spokesman for the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry said, “Such a heinous act is bound to sully India’s image among overseas investors.”

With several United States industries outsourcing to India, we wonder how the dominoes will fall.

Choudhary leaves behind a wife and a son.

What a tragedy.

    8. 8

Oh lord, kind of makes you want to do the same to the CEO on Wall Street.
      (not really . .. )
      -
But . . .. Merrill Lynch handed out 2.65 Billion in bonuses — 2 days before they went belly-up. Like they didn't know.

Sad………Anyways, Perez did you watch "Priviliged" last night? The main character (JoAnna Garcia) was on her computer and she was on www.perezhilton.com! It was great! You should check it out ;o)

I wouldn't feel pity for the CEO just yet. To inspire so much anger, he was probably a cruel and heartless boss who abused his workers. While I don't believe anyone should be killed by another human being, I am curious to know what this CEO did to cause his former employees to brutally kill him.

    11. 11

That's a damn shame. Poor man.

Now it's time for American companies to bring the jobs back to America. Enough of this. It's not worth it. Pay Americans, take a little less profit and learn to manage money better. That's what American companies need to learn.

    12. 12

Meaning, "as if" they didn't know . . . . just sickening that they handed out bonuses in the BILLIONS — knowing full well 2 days later the game was up.

Survival of the fittest. Another example of a backwards country with backwards people. No wonder people are trying to sneak into the western world. While it's truly sad, it's also disgusting. Perhaps that country needs to deal with its retarded caste system if they want to get anywhere.

      Re: milou

Piggy CEO???? Hardly. I definintely lean liberal, but to blame people who made it to the top is disgusting. Why should CEOs, corporate execs, and partners, et al share all of their profits? Why does everyone have to fucking be equal on this fucking communist wannabe planet? While I don't agree with sneaky CEOs and handing out millions before a huge bust, I must say, the way the wealthy in this country is "treated" is just as bad as the way the poor are treated. It's called reverse discrimation. Survival of the fittest. If you're not happy at your $20 an hour job, go back to school or start your own business. Anyone who refers to another human being as a "big money grubbing asshole" is only jealous that it's not himself with the big money. Not all people who are at the top are idiots. Just like not all poor people deserve to be helped by the government.

If you think corporations or businesses are greedy, then get off your ass and see what it TAKES to be the person who borrows the money, pays the permits and gets the structure, buys the insurance, fills out all the forms, deals with the goverment and its regulations, pays half your damn social security that you are too scared to handle yourself, pays disability, worries about lawsuits, worries about whether or not payroll will be MET at all because YOUR family might starve if it didn't make it this month, and then try to sleep at night. If you don't like working for a corporation, or business you don't own, then get up OFF YOUR ASS and start your own business. NO ONE stops you from doing it. Then maybe one day, you'll get to head up a large company and someone can come beat you to death for disagreeing with them or actually be so stupid as to think you deserve a profit. Go on- make your OWN cars, toilet paper, computers, ipods, lumber, gasoline, medications- GO ON and do it.

    17. 17

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAAA HAAA HAAA this ain't no tragedy we should be chucking all these "execs" out of windows EVERY DAY.

      Good for them.

Re: RDRH – Hey, Adam Smith, take your neo-liberal theories and cram them up your butt. People just want to be treated like HUMAN BEINGS and earn a FAIR wage. That "survival of the fittest" bullshit you're shoveling is for ANIMALS like YOU… AND YOUR MOTHER.

      This ain't the fucking jungle.

Where was Barak Obama's brother? He makes $20 a month. How tough would it be for brother Barak to double his monthly pay? Poor guy.

      Re: milou

No, actually, I'm not saying that at all. Find where I've written that. Please. I'm speaking in generalities… I'm saying not all people who make it to the top are indeed evil, greedy, or selfish. Just like not all poor people are lazy. If you go back to my blurb, you'll find I disagree with people handing out millions…billions… illegally before knowing what was about to go down. I just loathe how poor and middle class alike boo-hoo the uber-wealthy and what they do with THEIR money. The middle class esp. are very quick to judge what top notch CEOs, CFOs, CTOs, Partners, owners, and other business execs and what they should be doing with THEIR money. Oh this person doesn't pay his workers enough, this one doesn't donate enough, blah blah fucking blah. Personally, I worked my ass off for my degrees and for the position I have today. I'm not about to give half of it away (or more) because the hippies of the world are too fucking lazy, stupid, or both to obtain any wealth for themselves. THAT SAID, I don't agree with bringing harm to others or conducting illegal activities to advance one's fortune.

Talk to me when you get your MBA from PENN or pass the CPA exam or work your way up from mailboy to COO of a top financial services firm. I'll be sure to treat you to coffee to listen to all your intelligent words of wisdom.

Little surprising to me…..people in India and other similarly poor countries let their people be EXPLOITED to be MAXIMUM by American and other globally operasting corporations! Lives of human beings does mean NOTHING to the neolib capitalism American style!

      ———————-
So true! It s almost always the big American or global corporations EXPLOITING(!) their employes as much as they can (even in the U.S. they do this - cause you know, you usually do NOT need "3 jobs" to make a living in Germany! At least UP TO NOW, it s gradually changing unfortunately as German corporations and politicians idiotically adopted a few "American" specialties for their employees during the past few years and a lot of non-working mostly criminal immigrants live on German welfare and are a burden on the social system!).

Neo-liberal American "predatory capitalism" on a global level, with all its unsavory features such as greed, ruthlessness, and egoism, little wonder sooner or later the exploited workers in these very poor countries will no longer be satisfied with just a few crumbs of bread instead of a normal wage to make their living!
Anybody buying this cheap merchandize manufactured in countries such as India, China, a.s.o. SUPPORTS this inhumane neoliberal system!

    32. 32

Tough shit. We should have done that to the fucking Indians that bought our hotel and laid off everyone so their fucking family could work there. We had opened that hotel, had been there since the beginning, and the dotheads kicked us out without giving us a chance. It happens all the time over here in the states. Serves the motherfucker right.
