It's happening!!! Yay!
With the White House embroiled in deeply divided dissent over an urgent economic fix, Senator McCain has decided to resume his suspended campaign and take the stage for tonight's nationally televised debate.
With the failed bailout talks still fresh in the public's mind, the debate will probably prove to be yet another battleground for the economic crisis.
As it should!
We need to know what our future leader is going to do about this dreary situation!
Yesterday, things got so heated that President Bush had difficulty maintaining order among lawmakers. The presence of the presidential candidates later on in the day only made things worse, adding to the atmosphere of frenzied urgency.
But, now McCain is back on the campaign trail, with Mississippi as his first stop.
So make sure to tune in tonight! It's sure to be a doozy!

The president, in order to let everybody be heard, deferred to various Democrats, and every one of the Democrats — Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, and Frank — declined to speak and deferred to Obama. So Obama became the official Democrat spokesman in the meeting. This was to hype Obama’s leadership and presidential aura and so forth. What happened next, the first thing out of Obama’s mouth — Paulson is in the meeting — is he starts ripping the House Republican proposal and asks Paulson what he thinks of it.

This led Boehner and the other Republicans in there to think they have been sandbagged. We found out this morning that Obama had no clue — because he was in transit doing other things, he had no clue — what the House Republican position was. What happened was that on the way to the meeting sometime during the day, Obama’s staff received an e-mail from Treasury Department employees who work for Paulson detailing the House Republican plan. So when the Democrats deferred to Obama, he launched into that. He had no clue what it was. That’s why he asked Paulson for his comments. I don’t know what Paulson said, but this is what led to the fireworks. This is what led to everything breaking down in there. This is why Dingy Harry walked out, ’cause it didn’t work.

It ended up with Obama essentially chairing the meeting, with the meeting falling apart. The president was described as “beleaguered,” trying to regain control of the meeting. McCain didn’t say hardly anything. Everybody was yelling and screaming in there. McCain did not. He said, “We’ve gotta put these differences aside, work together,” you know, typical McCain
Joe Biden must have missed a memo from the Messiah. USA Today is reporting that Biden has requested $51 million in earmarks for Delaware in the new spending bill.

Sorry guys but McCain looked so old, he was yellow! The left side of his face was sagging and he voice was really soft and shaky. Anyone saying different is not facing the reality that he is not fit to lead this country! Maybe, eight years ago, but not now.
We can't have a president that needs to go to bed by 7:39 and wake up at 10:00.

this debate was a draw for me. both candidates failed to convince me that they are ready to lead this country. mccain continued to whine about a war that we already lost and should have never been involved in (get over it) and obama couldn't seem to understand that this country should not be rushing into another war when we can barely secure our borders at home. neither offered plausible solutions to the economic crisis. mccain's stance on earmarks is quite frankly getting annoying at this point. maybe if he didn't choose a running mate who secured more money per resident in alaska than obama did in illinois, i might be inclined to listen to him. instead i found myself asking: if we should not judge palin's ability to lead solely on this topic, then clearly obama is in the clear on this issue. in addition, i felt personally offended when mccain kept saying "i know the veterans, and they know i will take care of them." since when is protecting the health and livelihood of veterans more important than ensuring a base quality of care for everyone in society? so basically my life doesn't matter because i didn't join the military? i serve my country everyday through community service and a public service job that doesn't pay enough. and mccain really thinks that my brother in the marines is more deserving of health coverage than i am? nice mccain, thank you for clearing that up.
if we can find money to kill people, we can find money to help people. i am sick and tired of hearing about this economic crisis and everything the politicians are trying to do. well, surprise, surprise, free-market capitalism leads to increased wealth disparities, while half-assed regulations don't provide enough protections on corporate abuses. we now have workers who don't know anything and can barely read/write beyond a high school level, and we're surprised when companies choose to locate overseas. mccain is right, the business tax is high; obama is right that loopholes allow business and the wealthy to not pay as much. but both miss the point…lowering taxes on businesses will not convince them to stay unless we have the most highly skilled population in the world. weighing the costs and benefits, if it's cheaper to move to another location and hire people who are better trained for less money, that's a no brainer. however is we shift the argument and say you pay more to locate here because we have the best and brightest workers, well now that's a different argument. we must look at all the issues surrounding this economic crisis: corruption, lending practices, education, health of workers, proper training, etc.
neither candidate was able to articulate these and other points on this issue. why? they never care about the long-term and only focus on what will get them political points now. this economic crisis will not be solved by such selfish politics, it will only be delayed.
Some on this board appear to be living in an alternate reality.

Yes He's Old, this is something WE ALREADY KNOW AND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SIGNIFICANTS OF THE DEBATE OR THE ISSUES. It's nice to see you judge a presidential candidate by ageism, which is just as bad as not voting for Obama because of the color of his skin. Not to mention McCains Mother is in her 90's and still well and kickin although since this is the first time you ever actually took time out to hear McCain speak you probably never saw his mother in the audience supporting her son.
