This Is Heartbreaking
Filed under: Inspiration > Elizabeth TaylorDame Elizabeth Taylor attended the Macy's Passport AIDS fundraising event in Santa Monica on Thursday night, her first major public appearance since being hospitalized this summer.
And, unfortunately, she is not well.
Elizabeth could hardly speak.
We're told her teleprompter wasn't working, but we're not sure we believe that.
This may be her last public appearance ever!
Our heart goes out to you, Liz.

Kudos to Taylor for her longtime work in fighting AIDS. The world is a better place for the efforts she has put into providing support services for people with HIV/AIDS, prevention services, and education for the populations most in need. She will leave an amazing legacy!

I adore Elizabeth and I always have, Perez. But this is not sad. She has been so sick, so often, and she just keeps chugging along. I admire her! She is still doing good work for AIDS and she is a real example to me. How many of you small haters on here can even point to one tiny thing you have ever done for any charity? How many of you could keep staying active even tho you are sick? Elizabeth Taylor is a national treasure. And she is still the last, genuine Hollywood movei star. She is both classy and a classic. Go Liz!

Elizabeth Taylor is truly a lady who knows to live and who knows how to inspire. The teleprompter may have sucked, but her presence and her smile were more than enough to make people happy. She looks fabulous. And her work with people affected by HIV/AIDS is beyond reproach.

She was reading from cards and couldn't get the words out, it's called Aphasia. So sad.
Elizabeth has been a tireless fundraiser for AIDS for many years, and raised millions. Anyone who says unkind words about her is a total asswipe.
She actually looks surprisingly healthy. And i think i can sort of believe the teleprompter story, because she seemed to be focusing on something and struggling to read it.

Listen up Jessica, Charlize, Keira, Angelina - this woman was once the most beautiful woman in the world - years of drug abuse, bad men, booze - here she is. No husband - being wheeled around by the hired help - alone - I don't feel sorry for Liz - she had it in spades and f*cked it away on pills and bad decisions - you ladies in Hollywood who think you'll always be wanted in beautiful - think again - make your money - get out and have a family cause that's all you'll have in the end - don't be like Liz - be smart - take care of yourselves and don't think you'll be beautiful forever
I do have sympathy for Liz Taylor, but I have to say that the saying that "Karma is a Bitch " is really true in this case. Many years ago she was at an event where there were some disabled people in wheelchairs. Liz had her people to try to have them moved away from where she was because she said that "handicapp" people made her sick. She didn't want to be near them. When the media reports came out about this incident, she tried to redeem herself by posing with people in wheelchairs. It's sad that she is ill, but this shows us that we should be careful of how we treat people because we never know how we will end up in the end. I'm just saying…

This has to be a teleprompter issue, she's concentrating on 1 specific area and speaking as though it's going really slow.
Oh Come On ! It is so damn obvious that she cannot see her teleprompter properly, nothing more serious than that. Stop being so dramatic everyone, she did bloody well considering what she is and has been going through physically. She is a trooper. Don't bury her yet.
Awww, well at least she has lived an amazing life, so if she goes im sure she will go satisfied and accomplished. What a career!!!! =)

It's so sad to see any cultural icon get to be that age. Whether it was a medical condition that was causing her to read slowly or not, there's no denying that she's not in great shape. Poor Liz.
Her PR people should be fired for letting her stay out soooo long in front of that audience without assistance.

I think she is a amazing women just to show up to help and talk on aids is so great she is doing good works still in her 80's she got through it her eye sight isnt that great she needed glasses for to promter. If i was her i would have chosen some one to read it and talk a little part of it. She is amazing and she fights to stay alive to. I hope she gets better.

Oh boy, I was cringing. I don't think it was the teleprompter. I think she had delays in how things went from her mind to her mouth. They should have just had her sitting there looking pretty while someone else spoke. I feel bad, she's really not that old, ya know, and yet…Oh boy.
