George W. Bush is "very disappointed" with the vote of the House of Representatives to shoot down his Wall Street bailout package on Monday.

Says his spokeswhore, "There's no question that the country is facing a difficult crisis that needs to be addressed."

The rep said the president will be meeting with members of his team later in the day "to determine next steps."

  2. 2

This idiot and his corporate friends have RUINED the entire global economy!!!

  3. 3

    yeah, he's dumb.

  4. 4

the DOW did drop to 705 ish but is now hovering around 500. The vote is not over but currently does not have enough votes to pass. They are keeping it open in an attempt to scrounge up votes but it seems like they may actually lose votes. The stock market, specifically banks etc are getting screwed.

They are not approving the bill because the general population of America is dumb and think "I don't want to help the big wigs make more money by bailing them out" but what people don't understand is that those big wigs keep America growing by investing in businesses and there success ultimately leads to the average American doing better. The congress is not voting because America is calling them and saying you better not vote for it as well as the fact that they would be basically signing a blank check to the Fed Reserve. They will not start from scratch, they will just make amendments to the current bill specifically focusing on regulating the money that goes out so no CEO who screwed up the company get paid and so that the American Taxpayer will get money if these companies do well.

    Perez=wrong

    discuss

WHY IS THIS GUY STILL FUCKING TALKING!!………I cant stand this man……….I wonder if his mom still likes him?

  6. 6

    Re: gatorgirlsrq – Looks + Brains =HOT!

  10. 10

THIS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH BUSH YOU STUPID IDIOTS.

  11. 11

I guess he isn't going to get his big golden parachute check now……… oh but that's ok , the HMO's will still give him his checks

  12. 12

HE IS SOOOO FULL OF SHIT

  13. 13

Re: njpaul0129 – no kidding it is from people, being really really stupid with getting a mortgage that is worth more than the house that their buying and only making 8 bucks an hour

  14. 14

Just a rehash of an AP story. Good job, Perez…

  15. 15

Oh Well…if the Speaker of the House had kept her mouth shut in the minutes before the vote it may have passed. 228 no to 205 yes is close…you only need 217 to pass or fail a bill. See what you get when the lfet keeps talking instead of doing. ALSO IF the left really wanted this bailout passed they have the votes to do it. It seems like some of the Democrats are a little worried about being able to get re-elected in November.

  16. 16

    FUCKER!
    .
    MCCAIN=BUSH2

  17. 17

Mabye if we weren't spending 10 billion frivilously in Iraq each month, we could use that to help. But what do I know, I am only in the military, seeing it all first-hand.
    I smell a depression.

  18. 18

god bless america were gonna need it

  19. 19

This seems to be the most dramatic crisis since 1929. I hope America will be able to rise again and overcome this terrible moment. Italy is in the same boat, anyway.

  20. 20

I guessin' that wasn't Taco Night at the White House.

  21. 21

    Here's the Roll Call:
    -
    Democrats backed the bailout by 140 - 95 votes, or roughly 60 - 40. Republicans opposed it by 133 to 65, or 67 - 33.

  22. 22

Determine the next steps? I hope that monkey doesn t mean ANOTHER WASR by that!

  23. 23

I'm so tired of the Economy mess, people need to go to jail or something!

  24. 24

If he pushes the bailout people will say he's wasting taxpayer money by helping and if he doesn't the same people will accuse him of not giving a shit about the economy.
At this rate we're going to be six months into McCain's presidency before we get this shit sorted out.

  25. 25

    Note again, please.

Republicans - voted AGAINST the bailout 133 to 65 - so 67% opposed.
    Democrats voted FOR the bailout - 140 - 95 votes - 40% opposed.
    -
Did not pass due to Republicans.
    -
Considered detrimental to McCain as he was unable to galvanize the Republicans (personally, I don't think he should be expected to do so at this juncture)

  26. 26

Why not give each person in the US $200,000 to pay off their homes - which would solve the housing crisis, buy a new home, buy a new car, have money to spend, which ultimately will create jobs and help the economy. LOL

  27. 27

Although I am not a fan of Mr. Bush,
    it isn't his fault.
Shit likes this goes way back to 1971, when our dollar was officially no longer backed by gold.
    That was a huge mistake.
Tell me this, ya'll… with the cost of this war and our HUGE national debt…
where is the 7 billion coming from????
    Answer: THE PRINTING PRESS!
This bill passes, and the value of our dollar COLLAPSES.
    That equals: NOT GOOD!!!
The Federal Reserve will print out anything they are told to print, and the more money in circulation, the less it's worth.
We as the middle class should NOT be getting the fat cat criminals off of the hook in Wall Street.
Let them suffer for their crimes. And many here who talk about Clinton's sub-prime loans being the problem, yes and no. That wasn't good, but look at the cost of this war we are in.
"it was a mistake to go, it's a mistake to stay"- Ron Paul.
Why should we be going over there, blasting away their bridges, then staying to rebuild them while ours here crumble during rush hour traffic???
We need to STOP BIG G'VT SPENDING.
That means not allowing the bailout to pass, and END THE WAR.
    NOW!!!
Bring our troops home and let's strengthen our borders.

    Re: SparklingBerry

    Sparkling Berry,
there s MUCH MORE behind all that what lead to this economic situation! And iot all has to do with GREEDY conservative corporate friends of Bush who passed all those tax and stock exchange laws to PREMIT such criminal behaviour of bankers! It would, hover, take too long to go into details here….but several trading instruments were PERMITTED at the US Stock Exchange but NOT permitted, e.g., at European Stock exchanges!

  29. 29

She is the White House Press Secretary, not spokeswhore.

  30. 30

EVEN BETTER….the Democrats are having their press conference right now. The Dow Jones had dropped ANOTHER 150 points…Does anyone else think that this is BECAUSE OF the Democrats??????

  31. 31

    Re: Renfamous

He and his Republican banking friends "didn t give a shit" about the economy during the last 8 years - at least!

  32. kcmd says – reply to this

    32

Repubs are going down, and this goes for McCain and Palin. The Republicans — some who said their feelings were hurt — have ensured that we are staying in the economic mess. Get rid of the Republicans. Vote Obama!

  33. 33

If you think those NINETY FOUR democrats who didn't vote for it aren't part of the problem, then you are crazy. All you need is THIRTEEN more votes- why don't the DEMOCRATS pass it?? It is grandstanding. PURE political grandstanding. WHERE are those 94 votes? Why are you worried about Republicans- there were NEVER more than 70 republican votes anyway. EVER. Why did PELOSI call this VOTE when she knew she didn't have it??? She just wanted to spew BLAME- why doesn't she go after her OWN party members???????? McCain got 60 republicans on board. PELOSI can't get 13 of her OWN party????

  34. 34

I just feel like watching a certain video on Youtube when I see and hear this HYPOCRISY in the USA from Republicans and Bush: "Megalomaniac" by INCUBUS! :-)

  35. 35

Walk the plank ya spend freak!!

  36. 36

DEMOCRATS HAVE THE MAJORITY IF THEY WANT TO PLAY PARTY POLITICS THEY CAN PASS ANYTHING ITS THE FACT THAT SPEAKER PELOSI "ADMONISHED" THE HOUSE MEMBERS 10 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE VOTE. IF THE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE CAN'T EVEN GET HER OWN PARTY TO VOTE YEA ON SOMETHING AND SHE GETS OVER 35% NAY VOTES FROM HER OWN PARTY SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT. YOU ONLY NEED 217 YEA VOTES TO PASS A BILL SHE IS 12 SHORT..
AND THIS IS WHY CONGRESS HAS A 9% APPROVAL RATING.

  37. 37

What?? Sorry, but 700 billion dollars will make somebodies pockets fat as fuck and it won't be us little people.

  38. 38

EVERYONE PLEASE TURN ON THE NEWS THE MARKETS HAVE OFFICIALLY CRASHED BELOW -600 AND PLUMITING, YOU CAN THANK THE DEMOCRATS AND NANCY SHITLOSKI FOR THIS, NOT PASSING THE BAILOUT…WE NEED TO GET THIS BILL PASSED OR OUR ECONOMY IS GOING TO CRASH, THIS IS VERY SAD NEWS FOR AMERICA AND THE US ECONOMY…
    -
THIS IS WHY WE NEED TO VOTE FOR MCCAIN BECAUSE HE'S THE ONE WILLING TO GO TO WASHINGTON AND GET THE VOTES NEEDED TO PASS THIS BAIL OUT BILL, WHILE OBAMA DIDN'T THINK IT WAS AN IMPORTANT ENOUGH ISSUE, KNOW HOPEFULLY PEOPLE SEE HOW BAD THIS REALLY IS!!!

    39

    Blame the republican's:

    republicans for - 65
    republicans against - 133

    dow is now @ -712 !!!!!!!!

    Re: Cherry Bomb

Cherry Bomb, even if it WERE passed, it would not SOLVE this mess that several DECADES of American IGNORANCE, ARROGANCE and GREED and wilful conservative economic lawmakers have put you - and the rest of the world - in! Me, I lost about 70 % of my oldage savings at the stock exchange due to IDIOT AMERICA!

  41. 41

You guys seriously cannot be mad at President Bush…if you're going to be mad at anyone be mad at yourself for buying a home you can't afford, and a car you can't afford and then you idiots go out for every meal and charge it! Stupid dumb fuckers!

  42. 42

    Re: arrora
Sorry, but do you REALLY believe a simple few hundred million or even billion Dollars can get you and the world out of THIS MESS now?

  43. 43

    Re: guilty of being white
Right! And that s the IRONY of this! Unfortunately.

you say - At this rate we're going to be six months into McCain's presidency before we get this shit sorted out.

    CORRECT STATEMENT SHOULD BE-
At this rate we're going to be six months into OBAMA'S presidency before we get this shit sorted out.

  45. 45

    Re: WhiteGirl
Isn t that exactly the "American Way of Life" so profoundly PROMOTED and protected by corresponding legislation for decades especially by CONSERVATIVES?

  46. 46

    Re: Bavaria

lol and the miracle Democrats did when they told the Republicans to shut up about regulation and Fannie Mae in 2004? This was a fuck up on everyone's part so quit acting like a retard. Pretending George Bush is some kind of Snidely Whiplash supervillian who causes earthquakes and pees in your cheerios every morning just makes you look stupid as hell.

  47. 47

THANKS BUSH FOR PUTTING OUR COUNTRY IN THE SHIT HOUSE

  48. 48

Over six years ago, Bush warned that we are heading for a downfall. Then Barney (I suck cock) Franks said in affect he was 100% wrong. So once again the DEMOCRAPS could have done the right thing, but decided they knew better than anyone else. NOW WE HAVE TO PAY FOR THEIR FUCKING DUMB ASS ATTITUDES. Wake-up folks these are the jerks that want to run this country.

  49. 49

    Re: jrnpp

lol someone's in for a surprise in November ;)

  50. 50

It s NOT just the "too easily granted mortages to people who cannot afford a house", but: Even in that asepct, the banks in Germany are much more RESPONSIBLE! In Germany, you are expected to already POSSES 50 to 80 % private equity of the sum you need for buying a house, and you will NOT be granted a house loan/mortgage unless you can give some "security"!

  51. 51

GIve every American taxpayer over the age of 18 $400,000 dollars to stimulate the ecomomy

  52. 52

THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH BUSH!!!! HE made a mistake by wanting to DO the bailout to save how he looks, but he ALSO CANNOT be the cause of the problem. Any decent economist would agree that the government stepped in and forced interest rates and mortgages to be offered to low income families under the Clinton administration back in the 90's. Guess what? IT FAILED!!!! Those people couldn't pay their mortgages, and then those companies stopped making money. HOW IS THAT BUSH'S FAULT??!!! IT'S NOT!!! Everyone is quick to blame him cause he's unpopular. Grow up and place blame where it's deserved!! Let the free markets work, people! Government is the PROBLEM! Not the SOLUTION!!!!!

    Re: arrora

    #38

you're a dumb ass republican parrot.

McCain came to last weeks White House meeting called to discuss the crisis and didn't say shit. He offered no advice or solutions. All a political stint on his part…just one of many. McCain is like Mr. Magoo, totally confused, feeble and senile.

McCain - " The fundamentals of the economy are strong" LMFAO

  54. 54

    Re: Renfamous
2004? This situation dates back FAR MORE…..and they only one "looking stupid" right now is AMERICA! Has been for the last DECADE even! :-)
Too bad none of you seems to have learnt any foreign languages at school, otherwise you could actually READ ont he internet WHAT the rest of the world thinks of Bush and his country and especially his economic corruptiveness he calls "expertise"…:-)

  55. 55

Re: SlickWilley – the republicans were in control of congress for 12 of the last 14 years. AND they only took over congress in 2007 not even two years ago. AND with a republican senate democrats don't control much of anything. YOU REPUBES LOVE TO POINT FINGERS AT THE OTHER SIDE WHEN IT"S YOUR FAULT AND TAKE CREDIT FOR THINGS THAT YOU DON"T DESERVE CREDIT FOR. WE HAD A FANTASTIC ECONOMY DURING CLINTON'S ADMINISTRATION. Nobody wants to bail these fuckers out. If you don't, it would be like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

  56. 56

    Re: cmmrm80
IF Clinton s Administration did that, then WHY has the BUSH Administration, who were in power during the last 8(!!) years not altered it???! Instead he and the Republicans over almost a decade LOWERED taxes for corporations and the rich and collaborated with Osama Bin LAden and Arabs from Saudi Arabia especailly (CARLYLE! ENRON! a.s.o.) at the stock exchange and his friends, i.e. conservative JUDGES and corporate managers saw to it that the legislation made this POSSIBLE! ….

  57. 57

Somehow this economic mess, the U.S. brought us in Europe into as well, reminds me of the shitty situation in Iraq! In both instances, the Republic Administration (Cheney, Bush, etc. ) brought themselves and their people into shit and then CRIED for help from OUTSIDE! Or help from the TAXPAYERS!

Why did the DUMBASSES let it go so far?! I bet the Conservatives all have long ago hatched their chicken at the Stock Exchange already and in due time! Whereas the normal people now will lose their jobs and pension funds money …

  58. 58

I love how all the republican assholes just love to put the whole thing on the democrats. Just because the democrats have the house majority does not make every failed vote a democratic issue. More republicans voted against it than they did for it. And really Bush is pretty much useless, unless you need him for entertainment purposes

  59. 59

Re: arrora – more democrats voted for the bailout than against it you idiot. THe repubes don't want the bill passed because they disagree with more regulation of the market. but of course there has to be regulation. It's taxpayer money that's being given to these morons and the taxpayers as well as the government damn well have the right to oversee waht's going on with their money. That's what the repubes are afraid of, not cuz they give a shit about the taxpayer. It's deregulation that got us here in the first place and don't let anyone tell you different.

  60. 60

Re: Bavaria – i KNOW IT HAS ALOT MORE THAN JUST THE MORTGAGES, BUT THE CREDIT CRUNCH STEMMED FROM THE MORTGAGES THAT CANNOT BE PAID BACK, WHICH IN TURN LEAD TO THE WALL STREET GREED, IT IS NO WONDER WHY GREED IS ONE OF THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS………. IT CANNOT JUST BE WALL STREET THAT CAUSED THIS, BECAUSE WALL STREET WOULD NOT BE AROUND IF THERE WERE NO PEOPLE TO LOAN MONEY TO .I.E HOUSES, CARS ETC

  61. 61

    Re: asscrack

You're suggesting we flood the market with $50 trillion USD?
Brilliant! The economy will be fucked, but at least we'll all get to swim in pools of money like Scrooge McDuck!

  62. 62

Re: Bavaria – OK pal, you lost credibility in EVERYONE'S eyes when you said that the leadership of the US was collaborating with terrorists and foreign governments to screw the US over. Go back to your bomb shelter and turn on your radio…..cause the funny farm's on their way to get you…..

  63. 63

    Re: Bavaria

Your troll-fu is weak today grasshopper.
Here I was thinking you were a professional troll and now you're throwing stuff like "go learn a language!" at us? Come now..you can do better than that!

    64

McCains solution is to cut taxes for BIG Business

  65. 65

Re: ChrisInKy – AND WHAT ABOUT THE INNOCENT WORKING CLASS TAXPAYERS WHO ARE LOSING HALF THEIR SAVINGS OR MORE FOR THEIR RETIREMENT> WHAT DO WE DO JUST THROW THIER MONEY DOWN THE DRAIN WITH THE COMPANIES. NOBODY'S HAPPY ABOUT LETTING THESE GUYS OFF THE HOOK, NOBODY! BUT REALLY, YOU CAN'T LET COMPANIES LIKE THESE SINK, IT'S TERRIBLE FOR THE ECONOMY.

  66. 66

i guess retiring off of my investments is a no-go at this point?

  67. 67

He should be disappointed in himself …..and it is his fault he is in charge of the country …they seen it coming and he hoped it wouldnt tank until he was out of office ….

    WAKE UP

  68. 68

Great leadership, Cowboy. Thanks for de-regulating your corporate buddies to the point of no government oversight .. to the point of downright abuse .. and to the point of near-catastrophe. THANKS for nothing.

  69. 69

Re: amylala – What investments? GONE, Baby, GONE!

  70. 70

NJPaul0129 - the problem is dumbasses like perez keep posting inaccurate information…you are right, this is not Bush's fault, this party started with the Clintons! McCain/Palin '08…I have truly come to the conclusion after reading Michelle Obama's Princeton Thesis, the Obama's long history involving radical, anti-white groups, etc…that this country is really in for it if we elect this racist to office. I personally cannot support a candidate who so clearly is only in for himself and for his "people," not all the people. This joker has even made racist comments about asians. I cannot wait for the tape of M. Obama bashing Whitey to be released…

  71. 71

To jrnpp - McCain's plan calls for cutting taxes to ALL business, big or small, hence growing the economy…get your facts straight.

  72. 72

    Re: PLainJane82
I do get your point, totally…
just give this some time. The market will go back up, slowly for sure…
    But that is historic accuracy.
Yes some people will have to put retirement on the back burner for now until stock goes up again.
BUT DON'T BLAME THAT ON THE BAILOUT NOT GOING THROUGH!!
    Blame Wall Street!
They are the ones who have made the poor decisions, and have gotten us here in the first place.

  73. 73

    Re: loribaby1 – #70
I read her paper too, and it is certainly not Ivy quality. It was just… bad. Funny how I've not come across an Obama voter who has actually read Michelle's paper.

  74. 74

Re: loribaby1 – I disagree. That strategy of cutting taxes for big corporations HAS NOT WORKED. In fact, look where we are.. have you been living in a cave?

  75. 75

Yellowpeeps — cutting taxes to ALL companies, big and small…such as the dry cleaners, hair salons in your town, etc…companies that make batteries, bottle water, etc…not just big companies, but all companies. If small business thrives, the economy will thrive. Don't just listen to Obama reading off of a script…read it all…check the records…

  76. 76

Smirks - and the paper is full of hostility towards white people. that is what is scary is how angry she is at an entire segment of the population simply based on color. she is a very angry, bitter person. i fear her more than bush, obama, mccain or palin…because i think she is full of hate and unfortunately i think barrack follows her around like a lapdog.

  77. Galen says – reply to this

    77

Technically its the fault of the libtards in congress that forced mortgage lenders to offer no credit check and no down payment home loans to their welfare dependent constituents knowing they did not have the means to repay the loans.

  80. 80

I'm not a bush fan, but his people should realize what a rotten job they've done working for him, too. He'll be fine… He'll just go home and live on the oil company money he's been given (and whatever his family was paid for 9/11).

  81. 81

ok perez, we can all tell that you're a douchebag oops i mean democrat, so can we please stop talking about politics on your "celebrity gossip juicy celebrity rumors hollywood gossip blog"? you are pissing off a bunch of your fans that are both democrats & republicans!!! STFU you don't know what the hell you are talking about anyway!!!

  82. 82
